Vets that I have interacted with have been professional. Front desk staff are horrible. Even if your pet has been a patient for years, they will not see them in emergency situations. Crazy expensive for very poor client and nasty attitude by support staff. This is a clinic that has leveraged the shortage of vets to the max.

All about maximizing fee, horrible service, you will wait 20-30 minutes after your appointment time before you see a vet. Then you get to wait 10-15 minutes just to get your bill. After that $ is insane. VCA ruined this vet,

If I was only rating Dr. Beltran he would have 5 stars. He is a genius when it comes to holistic veterinary medicine and our dog loved him. He takes his time to examine her thoroughly and explains everything in detail. He will not do any unnecessary vaccines or procedures and is 100% supportive of raw feeding. His rates are expensive, but when you consider the amount of knowleddge he has and time he spends with you, it is beyond worth it. He has actually tried to save us money by telling us to buy certain supplements online instead of purchasing through the clinic. My only complaint is with Blair since I have received a phone call once telling me that my dog needed to get her rabies, after Dr. Beltran has told us we should wait. This was confusing and frustrating since she was rude about it anf I had to argue. We also had to see another vet once who tried to tell us how unsafe the raw diet is, which again was confusing since it's conflicting information from 2 vets at the same clinic.

Excellent until you need anymore more than shots and a physical because they will drain your life blood before they are done.

This place is insanely expensive They may have nice, competent staff, for the most part, and nice facilities but no matter how good the care is it is not worth the money I paid. They charged 500 dollars for a spay, which later on got infected only a few days later. Best part is, they were not willing to take any account at all for the infection, and charged ANOTHER 700$ for apparently a "discounted" second operation. 1200$ for a spay on a cat... are you serious?! Straight robbery. There was also an indirect comment made by a staff member in front of me and other customers about a review I posted, which is extremely unprofessional.

I went here because we wanted a holistic perspective. They were only supposed to charge $280 individually for the cat and dog. Dog was in very good condition, but we walked out with a bill of $700. Cat was in excellent condition, but the bill was $400. If you want a holistic perspective, you're better off going to a regular vet for check-ups and seeking a holistic canine/feline nutritionist for nutrition and prevention.

Dr. Beltran is amazing. He did such a thorough examination of Mya who is almost 10 now. She is doing great but this exam picked up on an ear wax build up, which could be easily cleared, as well as a tooth infection which would only have gotten worse had it not been found. I am so happy to have found a more holistic vet in the Ottawa area. I recommend Dr. Beltran to everyone. :)

They charge close to double the price on everything compared to two other Ottawa clinics I use. I was told the blood work was 130$ on the bill it was 139$ plus 40$ for drawing the blood!!?? That charge was not mentioned before hand.

We take our dog to this facility because Dr. Beltran is there. He is an amazing vet who takes an holistic approach to his patients; he is also a very compassionate doctor who takes time to explain his treatments.

I'm not that familiar with Blair except that they do charge quite a bit more than most. I once brought in a cat with a swollen lip. I had my own vet but because of the distance, I thought it would be more convenient to go there. He told he had no idea what it was and would have to do a biopsy. I decided I'd better go back to my usual vet. He took one look and said it was an allergy (that we discussed) . Gave her a shot and that was that. Cost me less then the visit at Blair. I can only imagine if they had done a biopsy.

My father is 90 years old with his small 12 year old dog as his best and only friend. The dog is very inactive and developed diabedes. The dog did not do very well, but the hospital kept the dog alive for the sake of the dollars and false hope for my father's companion. The poor dog finally died 2 months after the diagnosis basically being on life support with no real hope. My father's own health suffered as a result of having to taking care of the dog. $5,200 moved from my father's bank account into theirs. The dog sufferred. There were far more bad days for him than good. The dog always looked to my father for love, spent most of his time looking into empty space. Poor thing. Just want to say...Elder abuse is not always physical...It can also be in the form of taking advantage of the elderly. I've never seen the hospital so I gave average grades on facilities and punctuality, but on the rest I am hugely disappointed. My father misses his dog, but his phsical health is much better.

For more than 12 years I have taken by dogs to Blair. Great staff and no rush attention to my pets. Each has had some very challenging health issues and the vets and staff have got them trough it, either themselves or through quality referrals. Some times it is a bit costly, but I still have my boys in good health, lively and active. I am very grateful to Blair!

The staff at Blair Animal Hospital have always treated my cats and dogs with excellent care and compassion! They saved my cat's life when another vet told me he should be put down. As long as I have pets, they will continue going to Blair because I know they will be in safe hands.

We have 2 cats and this is our local vet. We only have one other place we can compare it to, the Beechwood animal hospital. Both seem fine we just switched due to proximity.

I've been a client at the Blair Animal Hospital for 10 years now, I have cats and dogs. They are an excellent Hospital, they offer a lot of services, they do blood work, x-ray's, ultrasound ect. They take the time and very good care of my babies, I trust them 100%. All I can say is to give them a try, I am still very happy with the service I've been provided. Continue with the great work guys.

The just want your money. They misdiagnosed my dog after charging for a blood test and thousands in medication. They obviously didn't do the blood test because when my dog collapsed a few weeks later and I had to take him to the emergency, they found the problem immediately and said it would have been shown in the blood test they supposedly did. They are thieves, arrogant and do not care. IF you do not pay them they will threaten to have your dog taken away. They will not allow you to take their scripts to anyone else. They are not a real Animal Hospital. They have very short weekend hours (Saturday only) and have no emergency or overnight care. They are a surgical clinic only. Avoid Blair at all costs. Go to Altavista or Ottawa Vet Hospital on Carling.

The staff is very friendly but I understand why since the charge is so ridiculously overpriced. They triple the price you would normaly pay at any other veterinarian. And they want your money so they're making stories up for you to get worried and pay their expensive charges about the health of the animal when he's doing fine. Don't waste your time, find another veterinarian.

I've been to those $50 clinics before too. The so-called hairball problem that my cat had came back a few weeks later. She actually had kidney failure! The vet at Blair saved her. The estimate I received for treating her was accurate and the treatment she received was worth every penny. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Boy was I wrong about this place. They seem to care for your pet and are extremely friendly but at the slightest onset of illness the battery of tests and hospitalization they charge is obscene!! My cat stopped eating for 4 days. After an examination they told me she was dehydrated, needed an xray and possible hospitalization. When I told them I wanted to get a second opinion I was told "don't forget you get what you pay for". Thinking she was in pain I decided on the xray (they really know how to play on your emotions)...Did I get what I paid for?? I got an inconclusive X-ray which they couldnt read and had to be sent to a radiologist for another charge! Suffice it to say $650 later I got nothing!! I went for the second opinion from another vet and for $50 was told my cat had a hair ball and it would pass naturally. Unbelievable. I will not be returning!!

Their vets are in it for the money. They will invent reasons to do unneeded procedures to your pets. They will estimate the cost of said procedure and then double or triple the end cost. They also have no air condition in the rooms so it is a hazard to take huskies and other winter oriented pets in during the summer months as it is at least 40C in the exam rooms when it is 25C outside. Unfortunately for many people, other than going west to Alta-Vista there is no place better in the East End of town in terms of facilities.
