Excellent care from Dr. Scammel he was so good with our elder dog Pepper went to him for years. Would highly recommend him for his honesty and knowledge. Also, wonderful staff who are very accommodating and polite.

I brought my cat in to Dr. Scammel several months ago and he diagnosed him with Cancer and suggested I put him down. I chose not to as I felt there was some life still. I went to another vet. I did gain 7 more months with him after being treated in Selkirk. Although Dr. Scammel may not have the best bed-side manner, he does relate well to animals and is brutally honest and was correct in the diagnosis of cancer. His mannerism should not detract from his ability to accurately diagnose and treat. We are not going to get everything we want in a veterinarian. I would rather have someone who is honest and treats my pet well and does not gouge me for every penny.

Dr. Scammel is the rudest man I've ever met. He is constantly shifting appointments around so that he can get out of the clinic and I always feel rushed. The techs are amazing and I don't understand how they deal with him. He is so overpriced and pretentious. He blatantly talked about how another vet clinic was horrible. I decided to take my pets to the 'horrible' clinic and have never been happier with my service and care. I have never written a review of a vet clinic until I had the displeasure of meeting Dr. David Scammel; after which I wanted to let others know he was not kind, understanding, or helpful.

I have been taking my dogs to a Rivers Aninal Hospital for 20 years and felt my dogs have always been treated exceptionally well . Staff very caring , Dr Scammell excellent . I have never been disappointed with my pets care .

Brought our dog in with abdominal pains, after a few tests we were told he has cancer. X ray and ultrasound were done, nothing conclusive, we were told a biopsy would be needed. We declined but allowed our pet to spend the night at his other clinic (Pembina animal hospital) after a couple days there and no signs of improvement we requested to take him home, it was highly discouraged, and we were told we should euthanize our dog. Two days at home and he was getting better, a week later and back to his old normal self !!! A few months later he has a few same symptoms. we took him to a different vet and within a hour we had a diagnoses. Canine Pancreatitis. Very treatable. Request his file to be transferred, some files and expensive test results are missing and cannot be found !!! makes me wonder if the tests were even performed !!

Have had Dr Scammell treat both my cats and dogs. He is extremely knowledgable and cares deeply for my pets. He isn't money hungry as suggested. Didn't have the money upfront and was getting paid later that week, he said to bring the cat in anyways because he cared so much for the health of my cat. He is great with the in home visits. Am lucky to have him as my inhome vet.

Doctor Scammel is not a good vet. He could not fix our cats broken leg. After 2 surgeries the leg was still broken and they claimed to use surgical steal rods and pins (never heard of this type of steal bending).He wanted to amputate the leg (prob to hide his malpractice) but the cat was put through so much pain already we decided the humane thing for our pet was to put him down. When we first brought the cat to get X-rays we were blown away by the price and tried to find the money to pay. He told us as we were deciding on what to do that we can pick up our cat (with a leg broken in half and take him home to decide what to do! Really !!! This guy is a butcher and I wish I would have known and taken my buddy somewhr else and maybe my cat would still be alive .

Got taken to the cleaners the last time. Had to get dinged another 350 dollars to fix scammels (funny how it autocorrects to scammers) diagnosis. When I felt they soaked me for services I got a canned response which was more offended that I may have suggested they took advantage of then what actually happened. It sounded rehearsed. I guess the nurses have to do it a few times. Came in again against my better judgement a few days back and they were rude to me as I guess the truth hurts. From now on I will drive an extra 20 minutes and not give them another nickel. I didn't see the needle being given this time but I have absolutely no faith that it was actually done. Never again and I will tell every one I can to stay away (pembina too... When you're really worried they can hit you even harder.) bad word of mouth is much worse than the $400 they took me for. Hope it was worth it.

Dr Scammell is a very cold, rude, arrogant money hungry man. It is all about money to him. He also owns Pembina Animal Hospital and his staff there is very inexperienced and they act scared to speak their mind. He does not care about peoples pets unless you have loads of money to pay his outrageous costs of treatment. He also keeps pets hostage in lieu of a bill being paid. Do not go there unless absolutely necessary. Hopefully someone else will open an emergency clinic soon so he goes out of business.

I have a young dog, an old dog (with advanced arthritis) and a cat (which I am new to).Dr. Scammell has always taken the time to ensure I am comfortable with my old dogs course of treatment and does the necessary follow up tests to ensure his comfort. When I got my kitten he made sure I knew how to care for her, in detail.He has NEVER been rude.Iwill keep seeing him.

Dr. Scammel is a wonderful doctor. He goes out of his way to take care of our Dog. especially when our house burnt down and our dog was rescued; she suffered burns. He went out of his way to call us immediately to see how she was doing. Took care of her. The staff is extremely friendly; And never once was Dr.Scammel rude to us. Money well spent!

did not do the best for Panda Bear had bld work Dec 22nd we were told it's low then 2 days later with no effort of ordering U/S, X-Ray etc just giving her injections of what ever it may be and asking for money prior to other medical attention...I really think she could have lived

Dr. David Scammell is very rude and unprofessional. Does not treat pet owners with respect or compassion when their pet's are not doing well.
