Click to report rating    10/26/17   1     1     1     1   All over bad. I've known people who will not go to this clinic again. Misdiagnosis, and over charging, rude staff. Doing work that was not required, and this was confirmed by other vets. Ordering medications that the client never agreed to. RID: 64931
Click to report rating    7/3/14   5     5     5     5   Dr Makowal and his staff have looked after my dog for over six years. From the moment we adopted her until her death last week. We have always received kind and courteous attention. Dr Makowal is everything that I'd expect from a vet. After a knee operation a few years ago, my dog had a problem a few days later. Dr Makowal was on vacation when the staff had contacted him, he returned from vacation and saw her the next day to perform the needed repair. My dog later developed cancer and Dr Makowal was just as caring and attentive right to the end. They are a five star clinic in my estimation. Thanks. RID: 52391
4/26/13   1     2     2     3   This was the cheapest vet clinic at the time and I was on a budget so when I bought my first puppy I started out at this vet. I never liked the staff, they always seemed stuck up, especially the front desk. They may be cheaper but they only seem to care about the money, not the animal. My dog got her first bladder infection and I was scared and once Again, on a budget. I called to make an appointment and inquire about the price. No matter what for, they always wanted to charge me like 40$ or so for a poop sample. EVERY VISIT! I needed to go get her urine checked, or for an ear infection, and it was required apparently to do a poop sample. And they make you feel stupid or inadequate if you're not rich. Like you're shoved to the side. Didn't like this vet at all. Very impersonal and not thorough, always left feeling confused. RID: 42096
Click to report rating    10/16/12   2     4     5     2   I have 2 dogs. They are 12 and 14. No immediate health concerns.Moved to Ajax and started with the Makoowal Animal hospital in Ajax.First visit was ok, but it seemed that they were trying to push medication for a routine checkup. This year I split the visits for shots in half (Jul and then Sept).Visit in July they got blood tests (recommend for older dogs to test kidney etc) and were examined (heartworm). The doctor checked thoroughly for fleas and ticks and commented that he was impressed there was no sign of them.I stated they have never been diagnosed with fleas ever. After my visit I noticed the dogs scratching more.On followup visit they were riddled with fleas and ticks.I saw myself. We were given a large amount of various meds, without discussing other options.Im concerned that they may have been contracted there as they are not in contact with other dogs and have never been kenneled, and now, their follow up phone call is to sched dental surgery for the 12 yr old. CONCERNED! RID: 37847
Click to report rating    12/21/11   5     5     5     4   I have been with this vet clinic before Dr. Makowal took over. He is a very kind and caring vet. I did have issues after my cat was diagnosed with diabetes like trips to emergency from insulin overdose, high price of "prescription" food, different diagnosis from his other vets, and whatnot. But, due to my own research, and conultations with Dr. Makowal only, my cat is now insulin free with a proper regimented diet that I feel is right for her and that tests have confirmed. No matter what, our pets are individuals like us and they all don't respond to the same treatment(s). We know our pets better than our vets do so it's a combination of consultation and communication that offers the best for our furry friends. I definitely recommend Dr. Makawol as he truly is a very caring vet. RID: 29993
Click to report rating    4/12/11   4     3     2     1   SEEMS MORE INTERESTED IN MONEY THAN WELL BEING OF PET. COMPLETELY DISINTERESTED ONCE HE REALIZED WE WEREN'T INTERESTED IN SURGERY FOR A TORN ACL IN A SENIOR DOG. WHEN WE ASKED FOR A REFERENCE FOR A PET PROSTHETIST HE NEVER CALLED BACK. RID: 24323
Click to report rating    8/17/10   3     4     2     3   This vet clinic was recommended by a friend to us. We were told the vet was fantastic and that vaccinations/surgeries were reasonable. The vet that we originally had was very expensive, so we decided to switch to this clinic. The main vet Dr. Makowal has always been good, and obviously really cares for animals. However, during our last visit, we found out there are now 2 other vets that would be helping out. We unfortunately had an appointment with one of the new vets. He was not thorough, and didn't offer much advice when I showed concerns about my cat's weight. He only suggested I buy the $70 bags of vet food they sell, and then didn't off any other advice on a diet plan for my cat. He didn't answer any questions well, or show much interest in his job. A week after the last appt, my cat started limping,so my husband took him to get checked out. They didn't even look at his leg, and just told my husband he had an "infection" and ulcers in his mouth. Not thorough and didn't care at all. RID: 19258
