Click to report rating    6/14/23   5     5     5     5   Clyde, my 2y old beagle had a bad cough. Concerned about his health I took him to the clinic at !:00 AM! This visit was like a breath of fresh air. The staff and the doctor were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The "no charge" gesture and the caring treatment of Clyde were much appreciated. Thank you again 404 Clinic! RID: 70728
Click to report rating    4/28/21   1     2     1     1   I had been waiting 6+ months for a dermatology appointment for my dog here. When I finally got the confirmation email in January i followed all their instructions to the letter. they did not ask for my visa or payment info, but apparently they say they did, and because i didn't give them my visa within 6 hours of booking the appointment (and 4 months before the actual appointment on April 28) they cancelled the appointment...in January...without telling me. I've been waiting forever for this appointment and if they had asked, I would obviously have done it. When I drove across the city to the appointment and surprise, its cancelled, the receptionist was rude and dismissive. Then when I asked if I could reschedule she put me on hold for 20 minutes and transferred me to an equally rude and dismissive woman who told me that the next appointment was not until AUGUST. These guys are total trash. Worst customer service ever. RID: 69939
Click to report rating    3/8/20   1     3     1     1   I wish there was an option for 0 stars. No matter what happens, please avoid this animal hospital. The push for expensive and unnecessary surgery for our lovely cat was way beyond ludicrous by this service provider. If you have a trusty vet, get their opinion first and remember not to panic, as hospitals like this prey on your emotions and feelings. We were sent here by another crappy hospital (TVEH) that appears to be their affiliate. We traveled all the way from Toronto, just to be pressured and pushed for "surgery." It seems like "surgery" is the answer by many animal hospitals nowadays, and if you do not do it, "Your animal will die!" They even did not do the ultrasound which we were referred there for. They even told us that they will call "an officer" because we took our cat out AMA. Well, not everybody has up to $8000 for surgery, which they demand an upfront 85% of. We had already paid $1500 for an overnight stay. Evil lives in this hospital. You have been warned! RID: 69111
Click to report rating    10/11/19   1     4     1     1   No, no and one more no!!! If you love your pet and I am pretty sure you do-never ever bring him/her to this clinic!!! But if you bring them anyway-make sure you know diagnose and check every step what they do for your lovely member of family!!! I brought my absolutely healthy 5 years old cat Simon, who swallowed some piece of foam. He was vomiting two days before, did not eat, drink, pee or poo!!! Clear condition showing full intestinal blockage( how I know now!!!) and I believe how GOOD doctors can see. But Dr. Caitlin Crain who worked that day was too busy “treating huge volume of emergency patients” how she said in her letter. And I guess Simon was not one of them!!! Oh well, RIP our dear Simon!!! He died in two days, only because it happened on Labor Busy Day, and Dr. Caitlin Crain did not have a time to make right diagnose. Now you tell me, Dear Dr. Crain- Is this case looks an emergency one for you ?Simon came to the hospital at 9am with 5-7% dehydration and was not treated for t RID: 68631
Click to report rating    8/12/18   5     5     2     4   Friday 7:30pm: Happy with reception and triage vet, Dr. Wong. The wait seemed extremely long. I have to give the establishment an overall failing grade as we had to take our critically ill dog to a Toronto Hospital for the care he required since 404 could not provide it in a timely fashion...Friday/Saturday RID: 66636
Click to report rating    5/6/18   5     5     5     5   Great doctors who actually care about your pets' well being. They gave me options for treatment for my cat and went over the pros and cons for each treatment. They don't pressure you to do anything you're uncomfortable with. Prices are on par with most emergency vet prices in the city. RID: 66083
Click to report rating    12/30/17   5     5     5     5   My Husband and I had to rush our 2 yr old Chihuahua mix in last night after a sudden collapse and vomiting. The staff helped us right away and took excellent care of our baby. The vet's and technicians explained everything to us and were quickly able to diagnose him with a sever allergic reaction. They gave us all our treatment options and were able to treat our baby right away. Today he is doing amazing and it is all thanks to the staff at 404 Emergency and Referral Hospital. On behalf of our family Thank You so much for you compassionate and professional care! RID: 65282
Click to report rating    7/14/17   4     5     4     4   This rating is not a fair one because the last time I was there was 2009 the staff and vets have changed so I really can't comment but I had to say something in order to continue RID: 64166
Click to report rating    2/22/17   1     2     2     1   Our cat suddenly developed Ataxia (his hind legs fell over as he tried to walk) which the Emergency Vets diagnosed as caused by Diabetes !!!! A neurological problem caused by Diabetes ? You've got to be kidding me !!! Totally incompetent; wasted a day here. Lesson learned: NEVER AGAIN. RID: 62792
Click to report rating    9/13/16   5     5     5     3   Our 16 yr old cat was clearly not well and we took her to the 404 Hospital on a friend's recommendation. After an initial consultation (which included some brief lab tests for confirmation) the vet told us our cat had terminal kidney failure. There was no option but to have our lovely pet put to sleep. Although the staff must deal with such cases every day, they never gave the impression that we and our pet were "routine". Everyone involved was caring and took the time to explain everything in detail, nothing was rushed. The 404 Hospital is not inexpensive but, as with anything, you only get what you pay for. Click to report rating    8/26/15   1     1     1     1   I brought in my cat, due to yellowing of skin. From the moment we stepped in, their use of language was discouraging and fear mongering. they kept him there over night, and told us that it is our choice to take him the next day. The next day, I sat there for 3 hours. Finally the Dr. Kraze stepped out and started telling me how she cares for my cat, and made me feel like a horrible person. but i wasn't going to leave my poor baby for another hour there. When we got him back, he looked weak and unhappy. He had a piece of feces stuck to his fur, which I removed outside of their office. Also, 1,400 for a simple procedure was steep! Thankfully, I took him to his own vet and he prescribed some medication, and now he is a happy camper, no thanks to 404 vet emergency. RID: 58178
Click to report rating    8/25/15   4     4     3     1   They had our dog 2 nights. $3200. Ridiculous. There is no mechanism to challenge these charges. RID: 58163
Click to report rating    7/6/15   1     1     1     1   If it is an emergency and time is a factor, I would go...otherwise avoid. The reception staff are incompetent and seem not to care. The veterinarian specialist are experienced and fine (surgery is good), but the vets they hire are just inexperienced new grads with no wisdom to think outside the box. If you have insurance, I would not mention it. They wanted to keep my dog overnight and we had several thousands already in tests with no answers, we decided to go to our old country vet and we got answers and excellent care..also a third of the costs.  12/28/14   5     5     5     5   Hershey, our 11.5 year old chocolate lab injured his CCL while playing, after a few months hoping he would be able to recover on his own, we ended up pursuing TTA surgery. After much research and looking into where he would get the best care and have the best possible surgeon, we decided to go with Dr.Isakow, as he is board certified, has a great surgical reputation and has the level of experience that we wanted for our senior dog. The surgery was performed and we are currently in the recovery process with Hershey but I wanted to say thank you to Dr. Isakow and his staff for such a successful outcome thus far. Hershey has had several surgeries throughout his life and I have to admit I have never seen such care in the process and the incision looks excellent. I have a blog where I am posting day to day info about his recovery process for other pet owners out there wondering about the surgery and recovery process. We look forward to his rehab http://tfarag.tumblr.com/ RID: 55213

12/7/14   5     5     5     5   I just wanted to thank the amazing staff at this facility for their concern for an injured/stray cat I found on the side of the road. It was late Saturday night and after contacting animal control (getting an answering machine) and several other vet practices that were very uncompassionate (and made me fell like I should have just left it on the side of the road to die) and just wanted my money. After contacting this practice they were very understanding of the situation and were more than happy to help this very injured cat. I will be sure to recommend this practice to all of my friends and family. RID: 54914

Click to report rating    10/17/14   1     1     1     1   I brought my collapsed dog for emergency care. In 10 mins, they swiped my credit card twice without telling me how my dog was. 40 mins after arriving, a very incompetent technician came to "take a history" that I had already given to the very rude receptionist (who yelled at 3 different people while I was there). I had to ask how my dog was, response: "She's ok." Not very comforting. The doctor seemed ok but I had to push him to tell me what may be wrong. When I picked her up the next morning the bill was $300 more than the treatment plan, with no explanation. The entire time it felt like a sales pitch to see their specialists (since no one could give me any idea why my dog almost died). It took days for them to send my dog's file to my regular vet (who immediately knew what caused the collapse). My vet called to talked to them about my horrible experience and their manager promised to call me. Never called. I won't be back and would not recommend them for any services. RID: 54132
Click to report rating    7/31/14   1     4     2     1   The 404 hospital is unfortunately run by one of the worst kinds of vets--the ones who care only about profits and know that you will pay through the roof for your pets. Dr. Isakow seems to be a skilled surgeon and doctor but he is even better at squeezing dollars out of pet owners. I have heard stories from neighbours of the 404 clinic ordering many useless and expensive diagnostics just to make a few more dollars. The facility is beautiful but the reception staff are not friendly at all and neither are most of the vet techs. The place is also crawling with an excessive amount of vet techs even when it is not busy. Do NOT bring your pet here unless you are feeling charitable and want to donate to Dr. Isakow's bank account. Shop around for whatever it is your pet needs and I am sure you will be able to save thousands with a vet who is just as qualified. RID: 52834
Click to report rating    4/23/14   5     5     4     4   Incredible Facilitie such state of the art fabulous surgeons and specialists, great location, wonderful staff. Treated two of my dogs, very good care and love for the dogs RID: 51185
Click to report rating    4/5/14   5     5     5     5   My border collie had TPLO for her torn acl, followed by rehab (6 sessions included in price of surgery). Dr. Isakov and staff did a really great job: She came home from surgery calm and happy; no swelling at all; and I have found follow up care at this facility excellent. This was a second surgery for my dog so I was very nervous about both the surgery and post-op care. They have great rehab vets so ask for help from them and you will receive an excellent experience all around. I will refer everyone I know to this vet clinic. This is a 24-7 facility which means someone is always available if you have a problem or concern. RID: 50882
Click to report rating    3/17/14   5     5     5     5   great place and beautiful facilities. Kevin is also a wonderful surgeon. RID: 50540
Click to report rating    1/27/14   2     3     3     1   My dog broke his leg and I was referred here from another vet who didn't feel qualified to fix the leg break (not very common breed). Very, very expensive and wanted to keep my dog overnight for no reason (other than $$$). When I realized the surgeon was a recent graduate, I asked for the experienced ortho surgeon to do the surgery and was refused. He wouldn't even speak to me directly and was angry at me for asking how many of this type of leg break the less experienced surgeon had repaired. For $5,000 I think I have a right to know! I cancelled the surgery and went to the most amazing ortho vet in Caledon who is very experienced with my breed and these types of leg breaks. While the facility is beautiful and the vet who did the intake was lovely, I was not impressed with the rest of the staff. They even "lost" my dog's x-ray after I drove 30 minutes to pick it up. This was after I cancelled the surgery. Coincidence? RID: 49512
9/17/13   5     5     5     5   My dog was recently diagnosed with cancer. This is a very heartbreaking time for me. My heart goes out to all owners who have to go through this sad journey. Dr. DeRose has been there, going out of his way to call and ask how my dog was doing after surgery, as we had to be referred to a specialist. He's returned my many phone calls the same day. In this time of despair, it is comforting to have a vet who is honest and will support me through my tears and fustration. RID: 47012
Click to report rating    9/16/13   1     4     1     1   This is a very nice looking facility and I guess they have to charge the big bucks to operate it. All they want is to do tests, tests tests and take all your money. They are so vague on the phone about results (even though you paid for it) and always want to book you in order to charge you more $$$. Very little compassion and not upfront about realistic outcomes. They only dangle the best case scenario to hook you in, even if it's more likely farfetched. RID: 46994
Click to report rating    4/25/13   5     5     5     5   We had our German Shepard in for a dermatologic issue and Dr Waisglass and the staff at the 404 were excellent in caring for our boy. It has been several months now that he has been good with no recurrance of his issue. Thanks to everyone at the hospital for giving our dog the quality of life he deserves. RID: 42050
Click to report rating    1/14/13   5     5     4     4   I was referred to the 404 by my vet in Bracebridge. My dog had a poor liver and her health was rapidly declining. Dr. Bronwyn was a wonderful caring vet who explained what was happening to my dog's liver..After a biopsy, ultrasound, hospital stay, it ended up costing a large amount of money, I didn't care, I just wanted my dog better. However, the results weren't good, and I had to put my dog down on New Years Eve. But, for whomever reads this review, I believe the staff at the 404 care for our pets. They were helpful, courteous, follow up was great. I actually took my dog to Dr. Bronwyn to put her down, because I trusted her and liked her more than my own vet in Bracebridge, and the drive was 2 hours away. Dr. Bronwyn showed the utmost respect for my dog and her needs and I thank her so much. The decision was hard to put my dog down after 11 years, but she was in pain & I refused to let her suffer. R.I.P Misty, I miss you...xoxoxo RID: 39603
Click to report rating    12/7/12   4     4     3     1   We were referred to the clinic for allergy testing for our dog. We live quite far away from the clinic and so travelling was very difficult for us. When her tests came back negative, the dermatologist suggested that we try foods and the like and then wanted to book another appointment. We had already been for two appointments and did not see the necessity since we had done the allergy testing there. While the doctor was great, knowledgeable, etc.... I did feel at the end they were pushing me to spend money on services that I could basically get from my family vet at home. RID: 38925
Click to report rating    11/25/12   5     5     5     5   The Drs and the staff are wonderful. The follow up is fantastic and my dog has responded very well to the treatment they recommended. I highly recommend this clinic to a pet owner that wants ethical professional treatment for there pet. Dr Bronwyn especially has been of great assistance to me. RID: 38693

5/20/11   1     2     2     1   I had the unforunate luck of crossing paths with this organization. I was referred by my local vet in Newmarket as my dog required knee surgery. I was quoted in excess of 3500.00 for a tplo TPL surgery. I found this to be quite expensive so I got a 2nd assessment. This 2nd assessment was almost 1000.00 difference in price. I then asked about the procedure and it was the exact same procedure. When we called to cancel are appointment with the 404 clinic the surgeon tried to tell us the place we were going to the doctor wasn't even a surgeon. This was a lie. Our dog was treated extremely well by the West Hill Animal hospital in Scarborough and has made an excellent recovery. The 404 clinic has now sent me a bill for over 300.00 for the consultation and blood work. When we questioned it we were told we would be taken to collections if we didn't pay the bill. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE STAY AWAY! I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO POORLY TREATED. PLEASE VISIT THE WESTHILL ANIMAL CLINIC. DR. WOODS IS GREAT! RID: 25124

5/19/11   1     4     4     1   Our cat developed seizures since Dec 2010. We started seeing the neurologist at 404 since Jan 2011. We found the neurologist inexperienced and disengaging. She categorizes our cat's case as difficult because our cat does not respond well to the typical anti-seizure drug of choice. She then lost interest and only pushed for more tests and not focusing on treating the seizures. Our cat went into seizures for 3 days and admitted to emergency when she experimented our cat with a new drug. During this whole saga, the neurologist didn't once call us to reassure us she has our cat under control. Our cat had 9 blood tests and 2 emergency visits in 5 months. After this hospitalization of our cat, the neurologist only spoke to us on the phone. We no longer feel she has the knowledge, credibility and compassion to treat our cat. She considers our cat's case as non textbook and basically withdraws from it. In our opinion, there is a lack of care and compassion shown by this neurologist. RID: 25094
