I have been to a number of different Vet’s looking to find the best care for my senior cat. I honestly believe that I have found the best clinic in the city. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and caring. Every time I had an issue with my old boy I would get daily follow up calls asking for updates or to just discuss the situation and providing recommendations. They genuinely care and always handled him in the most gentle and calming manner. They outline all options and cost and have never pressured me into a more costly solution
Once I sent a picture of a cat that had a medical issue from a friend in the USA that was suspicious of some of the advice she was getting. Dr Hume wrote back to me in less than 30 minutes with her thoughts and option in well thought out thorough email. I have to utmost respect for her and all the staff. If you want the absolute best care for your furry family member look no further, because there is no one better out there!

I'm so glad I found this Veterinary Clinic! I believe his name was Doctor Spencer, but he was amazing! I recently had gotten a puppy and had noo idea what I was doing. His staff and himself were so kind and welcoming and gave me a million tips on how to care and train my puppy. Being a new puppy parent - I would totally recommend this clinic!

My dog Anakin visited Dr. Spence for his yearly check up every year for about 4 yrs. His last check up indicated 1 off his prostate might be a bit enlarge. Dr. Spence recommended we had him neutered. We made an appointment immediately, had his blood work done, in which he was fine to do the surgery. He had to be there by 8:30am, and to pick him up at 3:30pm. The morning off the surgery, my son took and while waiting the attendant was yelling at my dog for not going on the scale. I called the vet around 11:00 at that time he didn't have his surgery yet. Rudely, I was told they would call me when he's ready. They gave him a collar which was too small. A week after he got sick, stopped eating, just lying around and lost weight. Nobody from the clinic even did a follow up. at, the time of his surgery, he was given gas, meds, plus his yearly needle. now,6 months IBD. Lost 11Lbs! Dr. Spence refuse to see him when I sent her an email. Not a caring place!!! Thank you Dr. Spence and Staff !!!

We found the care at Islington Village Animal Hospital to be superior! Our rescue cat, Cookie, was experiencing oral pain; we found IVAH through an online search & were NOT disappointed we selected this clinic! Cookie needed dental cleaning and surgery to remove badly decayed teeth. Dr. Erin Spence & her staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, patient, kind and considerate of us & Cookie through the entire process. We received a full report on the blood work prior to surgery with a complete, written quote. We REALLY appreciated that the fee structure was transparent - nothing hidden & no surprises - and the price was very fair by today's standards. After surgery care was terrific and Cookie seemed to like it there a lot despite the trauma of having had 5 teeth removed. We feed Cookie high quality pet food already and also appreciated that we were not pressured into buying the food they stock, instead. We highly recommend this clinic.

Dr. Erin Spence and her team have been great! My dog has been throwing up and recently had blood panel done. She was kind enough to follow up by phone the next day to help put my mind at ease. She also doesn't recommend unnecessary procedures. My dog is 5 1/2 years old and it was suggested that he get his teeth cleaned (approx. $500 procedure). I brush his teeth every day since he was a puppy and Dr. Spence advised me that his teeth are pristine and he doesn't need his teeth cleaned. I don't know of too many Vets that would turn down a $500 procedure. She also takes as much time as you need when she sees you and your furry child. Thank you!

Great clinic, great staff, great doctor. I am happy to bring my cat Jack there. It's very hard to find a good/reasonably located/reasonably priced vet in Toronto and anyone who has been to IVAH knows that they lucked out.

Can't really comment on their facilities and monetary value. I've been calling and researching various vets in Toronto in preparation for a coming pup. I emailed them for information on prices and to see their opinions on vaccines. A woman named Heather emailed me back quite promptly to ask for more information on the pup, when I told her some basics like breed and age and mentioned that I didn't have the pup yet she never responded back with the information I had asked for. Pretty uncool considering I was trying to be a responsible pet owner and it seemed like I was being tossed aside because I wasn't an immediate prospect. I wish I had gotten to see how great the clinic was considering these awesome reviews. (P.s. I put 3's for some things because I have to put in a rating)

I searched this forum and others for a vet I could grow to trust. I avoided vets for 10yrs. My persian had issues with his gums. I liked Dr.Spence the moment I met her. The girls at the desk and on the phone were a pleasure to speak with and very involved in the activity within the clinic. Erin is calm, concerned, and understanding. she listens and I really appreciate that. no pressure, just proper concern for animals and understanding of bank accounts. our cat had to loose most of his teeth :( this was shocking and stressful but she made it easy to deal with and our cat came home, healed, and even continues to eat dry food! with just a few teeth in the back. I really appreciate having 1 vet at 1 clinic, worth the drive from Brampton. recently, our cat, now 11, is beginning some UTI issues. I called Islington Village today, gave the girl who answered the phone tons of info. although they close at 7pm, Erin called me at home at 7:20pm we will be seeing her at 10am. Thanks for listening

I cannot say enough good about this place! Dr. Spence is excellent and she never pushes you to decisions (we have decide not to neuter our dog yet, she was fine with it)! She is always so helpful!Her staff is also excellent! They never try to rip you off, unlike many clinics in Toronto do. I keep recommending Islington village animal hospital to all my clients and friends!

I can't say enough about IVAH and DR Spence. We have been taking our pet family to see Dr Spence pretty much since she opened, we have 1 dog and have brought 4 cats to see her and every visit has been wonderful. The staff is fabulous, knowledgeable and helpful and Dr Spence is amazing. She is caring, never rushes us (I ask tons of questions) and also never pushes any products or procedures that. She gives us plenty of info and helps us make informed choices. She is the first vet who has never tried to "upsell" our food choices or made us feel "bad" about considering our financial resources when considering options for our pets' care. We love going there and truly feel she is the best vet we have ever met. Thank you to everyone at IVAH!!!

I chose this vet for my dog because I've read the ratings here. Everything was ok until I told the secretary I was not sure about neutering him. Fisrt, she started to tell me about prostratic cancer, but I know that neutering or not, doesn't have any relation with this kind of cancer in dogs. When she realized I was not impressed, she started to complain about my dog's behaviour and both, the secretary and the vet, started making fun of me and my dog. I felt very uncomfortable. It was a terrible experience, very different of all the appreciation they always had while I was paying the bills without questioning.

I went to the emergecy clinic with my sick dog. When we say the doctor, she look over him, then left to bring me a price list and a $1400 bill. I felt I was buying a car. She told me she wanted to do a number of blood tests and ultrasounds to determine not what the problem is. And that he had to stay overnight. When I said, no to this, and just wanted the medications and that if he got worse I would take him to my vet in the morning. She said that he might go down hill quickly, and she pressured me to keep him over night. I went to pay the bill. It came to $611. Wow, I thought that was a lot, but it was an emergency clinic. They proceeded to charge to my VISA. When I was still there I looked at the bill i discovered a $325 fee on it for an ultrasound that he didn't have. I told the receptionist about this, and she said it was for the X-ray, I said he didn't have a X-ray. She went back and asked an assistant or vet, who credited my creditcard, wile the receptionist wanted to shred the b

I recently brought my older cat in for a dental cleaning. The staff at Islington Village Animal Hospital were incredible at caring for my cat, and supporting me (I was very worried). I have no doubt that they provided the best care for my cat! Dr. Spence tailored a special anesthetic routine just for him (he has other medical conditions). He recovered very well and I am happy to have my cat back with a clean and pain free mouth! Thank you Dr. Spence and staff! This clinic is awesome!!! I couldn't ask for better care for my pet!

Just started going to this vet with our new puppy. Excellent service. fair pricing. No upselling. Arrive a little early, parking lot is large but often full. I have had pets for 25 years and this is the best place thus far.

This was our first visit to Dr Spence. We found the whole experience exceptional. Dr Spence and the staff were caring and experienced. My cat Jade was so comfortable thru her first exam. After reading reviews, I've decided to give it a try and I was not deceive from all the good staff people working there. The caring,the interest they had towards my dog sick health. Everybody was kind, knowledgeable, punctual and caring.I am now having Dr.Spence has our new Vet and thanks to her good care & time she took for my little dog who was very loud expressing his stress. I strongly concur with all other ratings on Dr. Spence and her team. They are VERY caring and go beyond the call of duty to ensure you and your pet are looked after. We had a dog who had some "special needs" and Dr. Spence and her staff helped us a great deal in taking care of him by providing the right solutions and for fees that were very reasonable right until his last day. For the veterinary care we required and compared to vets we had tried in the past, this clinic is what anyone (who really loves their family pet) would expect and much more!

After reading the great reviews of this Clinic on the Internet, I did not hesitate to make an appt for my two year old Burmese. I was there yesterday and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of facilities and friendliness of staff. Dr. Erin Spence is "A"mazing. She is extremely knowledgeable and keeps up to date on animal care by attending conferences, etc. Being my first visit, she did not rush me and I ask a lot of questions :o); Dr Spence is very patient and has true compassion for you and your pet. Her costs are very reasonable, way less than those vets in my area. It certainly is worth it to drive the extra distance to this clinic. Dr. Spence's top priorities are oral health and nutrition; she addressed my cat's needs in these areas with one amazing diet which my finicky cat LOVES! They go the xtra mile here. I don't have enough space to write all that I want but just to say don't think twice about going to this clinic. Two thumbs up!!! One happy customer - Barry

We really enjoyed our first experience with this clinic after a few bad experiences at other clinics that seem to tell you more of what tests you should do, than what you shouldn't. Dr. Fournier (there on Thurs. currently) deserves credit here as her manner was excellent, and she gave us many options without pressure. We left with our two little dogs feeling like it wasn't a traumatic experience for them, even though they had bloodwork done. So far, I'd really recommend this vet clinic.

Dr. Spence is quiet - lowkey - which is so great for my dog and me as there isn't a lot of hype and no pushyness. She lets you ask questions and make your own decisions. She knows her stuff and seems to be plugged into the vet world beyond her clinic. Staff is interested and motivated. They are pet people. The place is spotless. It has a family kind of place feel. You wouldn't mind your kids crawling on the floor. Best of all is her dog which she brings to the clinic. It's a true pet not a showpiece of neurotic perfection. He's big, he's good-natured and full of friendly energy. My dog who is about one third of his size loves him. There's a white cat, too, which sometimes lies stretched out on the front desk counter. Yeah, I like this vet. It's not a chore to take my dog here. My son drives in all the way from Waterloo to bring his dog here. She's our idea of what a vet should be - trained in veterinarian care - not a high yield salesperson on commission.

I would highly recommend this clinic. Dr Spence has been wonderful, treating my 2 cats with patience and care. My one cat objects to any vet or even smell of vet but Dr Spence handled him with great understanding. My other cat was diagnosed with hyperestagia something most vets don't even seem to know. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the clinic was clean and well equipped. The prices were extremely reasonable. If your looking for a bet this is definately the one to go to.

I needed to find a new vet after having a horrible experience with my dog at a previous clinic. I was so happy to find Islington Village animal hospital because Dr.Spence and her staff are so amazing.I was nervous about trusting a vet again after what happened at my previous cinic but I was so impressed with Dr.Spence and the way she treated my dog.I was so happy that she did not pressure me into getting any unnecessary tests or shots done. After recently moving to Toronto, my Dog became lame in the hind end. Trying to find a vet who cares more for the animals than the bottom line can always be difficult. Dr. Erin Spence is one of those few vets whom you can completely trust! She took amazing care of my dog. She gave me many options, and she followed up with e-mails. She even went so far as to talk to an Orthopedic surgeon on my behalf to get an idea of the actual cost for surgery. She e-mailed me a copy of the x-rays that she took!! Seriously, do you know of any other clinic that will do this for you? I would recommend this clinic to anyone in the GTA. Easily accessible, and well worth the trip. I would whole heartedly recommend this clinic to everyone!

Erin Spence is a great vet! I was thrilled with the service I received at Islington Village Animal Hospital for my cat's recent eye surgery.
I have to say, I have seen many vets in this city and I was really starting to wonder if they all just jacked you for every test and procedure possible. I feel so fortunate to have found this vet because I think first and foremost she cares about the animals. I haven't been working steadily in the past few years so finances are tight. It was such a relief to find an honest vet that offers great care and affordable prices. You will not regret taking your animal to Dr Spence.

Dr. Erin is absolutly wonderful! I brought in my adorable newfie puppy Panda for a check up because he had diarrhea and she was excellent! She listened, gave me a number of options, answered all my questions thoroughly and followed up personally the next day to see how he was feeling! For antibiotics, a check up and testing his stool she only charged me 130$! She is just wonderful, I highly recommend! The rest of the staff are courteous and friendly, it is a clean, welcoming environment!
