My dog needed surgry asap to live and they wouldn't help me with a payment plan. My dog was non stop bleeding so i didn't feel i had time to look at other vets. They told me i had to surrender her to save her life so i had no choice. Now i can't have any information even if she lived or what. They are greedy and heartless people and this was so so wrong. I am a single father rasing my small son on my own and all we had in the world was that dog and because this places wanted money fast my son couldn't even say goodbye. absolutely despicable place to bring your animal. i hope they feel our pain like this someday!!!! Click to report rating    7/25/16   5     5     5     5   I love this hospital for its balanced, comprehensive, and compassionate approach. Dr. Butler has treated our cats for various problems, including aggressive cancer. The results are in stark contrast with those of standard treatment, which we saw in our other pets. With a severe illness, you normally expect to see modest success at best before inevitable side effects set in. Quality of life is irrelevant in that system. Dr. Butler, who combines conventional and alternative methods, is concerned with animals' well-being, not just their diseases. This works great for our cats. The one with cancer got paralyzed and wasn't expected to survive beyond a couple of months after palliative radiotherapy at the Guelph university clinic. We asked the clinic about naturopathic options, and they referred us to Dr. Butler. Two years on the cat is alive and running! For the the hospital staff, we also have nothing but praises. They're friendly and dependable. I wish we'd known about this place before! RID: 61188
Click to report rating    10/26/15   5     5     5     5   This clinic is the most professional vet clinic I have used. The staff are friendly, the facility is fantastic and the Drs and Technicians are extremely kind and professional. If you are tired of being talked at and not to---this is the clinic for you. The Vet discussed my options with me and ensured I was completely informed and not just scared. Can't say enough about the wonderful feeling we got from this team. It's worth the drive to Guelph RID: 58794
Click to report rating    12/4/14   4     5     5     2   They took me without an appointment when I was unhappy with the student clinic up the road. Dr Smolkin is the BEST vet I have ever taken my animals too. She is the QUEEN of vet medicine. Whip smart, funny, takes time to explain in detail what she is doing, answers questions, very caring to my cat, thank you Dr Smolkin. Dr Butler is a condescending jerk (sorry, but it's true), he abruptly cut me off when he asked me a question because I was passively critical of the previous clinic (I didn't want to be, but I had to be to answer the question). So from now on, I specifically request Smolkin, and all is great, yay! :) RID: 54870
Click to report rating    5/30/12   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my 14 yr old German shepherd to Guelph to see Dr.Butler for treatments that most vets don't offer. My dog's hind legs suddenly stopped working one day, and after an emergency visit and weekly visits for 4 weeks, my dog was able to get up and walk short distances due to the electro-acupuncture treatments she received. The immediate response to the treatment was amazing, each time you could see the change. 1 year later, she is still with me and mobile thanks to them. Everyone at the clinic has always been very professional and friendly, and the only time I ever had to wait was when an emergency came in which was totally understandable. Usually they are very on track with appointment timing which is nice because I have an hour drive each way. Another great thing - when Dr Butler was on vacation he even had another vet at another clinic who was able to continue my dog's acupuncture treatment for him so she didn't have to miss any. Click to report rating    4/26/12   5     4     5     5   I have been going to the Guelph Animal Hospital since 2008 when I first got my dog and have not hesitated about continuing my care with them. The staff is always friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The care is exceptional and spans from the front desk to the nurse to the vet - everyone cares so much! I have never doubted that my pets are in very good hands :) RID: 33781
