I can say that Dr Hughs is very knowledgeable. It’s evident she cares more for animals than people. She is THE rudest human being I have ever encountered. She will place blame on you for your animals health issues, and she will scowl and yell at you. I see she has some good reviews, which to me is surprising. Has no people skills what so ever. No idea how her staff can tolerate her ignorance. Staff are very professional and kind. Vet Techs are all very good and kind. When a client leaves crying from feeling offended and yelled at, there’s an issue. She’s a bully!

I’ve been a client since moving to the area in 1999. In 2013 I moved to the NE end of Winnipeg and to this day I make the 40 min trip and will continue as long as Dr Betty practices! If you like a no nonsense, animal focused and compassionate vet this is the place. If you prefer your vet in a white coat and a clinical setting (no judgement) then this is not the place for you. I love that they’ve been rescuing local cats/kittens for years and some wander about the clinic along with staff pets. Over the decades Dr Betty and her awesome staff have helped me care for 10 dogs. Each pet received knowledgeable compassionate care. Prices are very reasonable and I’ve never felt any unnecessary extras were added in - if anything we were given extras at no charge. If this rating system allowed more than 5 stars I’d give it!

2017/06/11...I like Betty and her staff, her services have served my pets well over the years. I haven't found long wait times. The office is clean and tidy. I am comfortable with the animals that reside at the clinic or are brought to work by there humans...many workplaces are becoming animal friendly, I feel this kind of atmosphere provides a more relaxing environment for my pet. Betty's pricing works for me and my pet health care budget. Thank you Betty and Staff!

Dr. Betty does not beat around the bush, I appreciate her straight forwardness. She is so good with all my furry babies. The girls are fantastic, kind, sensitive, very helpful. I would not go anywhere else for my animals' care. They are very reasonable with their fees. I love them!

Dr. Hughes has been our family vet for over 30 years. We have seen other vets when we moved away and we'd be hard pressed to go to anyone else as we feel very cared for and treated well. No doubt about it, Betty tells it like it is. She treats the animal first, the human second and that is how it needs to be. We are a family and things in life are expensive. Betty has always been remarkable at presenting practical solutions to problems with our dogs and prioritizes the procedures based on the dog's needs. I wholeheartedly recommend Betty and her staff.

Dr. Betty Hughs & her team are honest & truthful about your pets health & care. If you can't handle the truth, don't go there. If you want the very best care for your pet do not go any where else! Betty & her team have treated, cared for & LOVED all my pets for 40 yrs now. With Betty & her valuable team, your pets health & care comes first. Her rates are very reasonable & the "Clinic Cleanup" time is AFTER she has seen her last patient. Many times "they" have stayed way past reg clinic hours to be sure every pet was treated. During Clinic Hrs your pet's care is more important than keeping the "hair" off the floor. An unexspected emergency will always (& should) come first before a reg or non threating appt. (Remember, it could be your pet needing this immediate care!)I too have had to wait because another persons pet needed more attention then first expected. It happens! It will be a very sad day for many of us when Betty closes her clinic doors for the last time. Mary Ann of Winnipeg

We adopted a "special needs" dog and don't know where we or our dog would be without this talented vet. Dr. Betty is a little brisk it's true; upon our first meeting she sternly told me "Your dag is fat!" but underneath lies a loving, dedicated professional,her prices are very reasonable and the staff are amazing. Five out of five from Little Bear!

A family member had suggested that I go to St. Francois Xavier Animal Hospital for my animals, and I am glad that I switched over. Betty knows what she is talking about and puts the needs of the animal first. Both Betty and her team are patient, caring, and have great beside manner. I would strongly recommend Betty and her clinic to anyone. Betty found things that my previous vet had not, and initiated test immediately (where as the previous clinic did not do anything). I am relieved to know that both of my animals are in such good hands now. I only wish that the clinic had longer hours, other than that, I have nothing negative to say. Some people may say that Betty can be abrupt, but she means well and does what she can and needs to. She is punctual, thorough, and a wonderful veterinarian. I highly recommend going here.

I have been seeing Betty for over 12 years. She is knowledgeable and has a very pragmatic nature which can be disconcerting and could easily perceived as patronizing. I have mixed feelings about the clinic and the services she provides. The wait can be very long, Betty seems to want to gouge you by pushing unnecessary medication for my dog, and unnecessary procedures. Yes, the wait run is overrun by staff dogs and abandoned cats. Her prices are lower than city vets but you get what you pay for.

After bringing my 7 year old pug to a number of different vets in the city St Francis Xavier was recommended to me. We now have been seeing Dr Betty for 2 years now. I can say without a doubt this is the most caring facility I have encountered. The welfare of your pet is first and foremost, and they do not try to gouge you the way some of the city clinics do.

We’ve had the privilege of having Betty as our vet for almost 8 years now. She’s Amazing at what she does, and is not only cost effective compared to city rates, but really cares about your pets health, and doesn’t push medications and contraption **** on you the way the city does when it’s really not needed. I’m just sad she’s not a GP as well because she’d make a damn good doctor! As for the facility it’s Homely and very friendly which you don’t feel at most clinics. Yes there are cats and dogs running around all the time. That’s part of the fun of it. They have personalities just like humans, it’s sad that some people nitpick that as a negative. As long as her clinic stays open she’ll be my one and only vet.

The BEST clinic in province. Betty is amazing...yes she has a different demeanour BUT she cares depply, is very patient with owners AND incredible under pressure (i.e. dealing with my dog who was hit by a car). My only hangup was her clinic hours which I wish would be a little longer but she runs the whole clinic on her own.

You take the good with the bad at this clinic dr betty is extremely knowledgable and cares very deeply for your pets health but as mentioned previously the other dogs and cats that live there are irritating and the office is very dirty. DR.Betty is also quite patronizing which is hard to deal with but shes a good vet and the prive makes it worth the drive from the city.

I have been with Betty for 9 years now... she carred unconditionatly for my German Shepherd Cody.. until the sad day when we said goodbye.. Now have a new puppy and from 9 weeks he saw Betty... he is now a year and a half old German Shepherd Adolescent... Betty has treated him the best... Even though I drive an hour to get here from Winnipeg... Windsor Park... I would never change.... vets... It is a small clinic... and very homey...

BETTY IS EXTERMLY KNOLEDGABLE AND HELPFULL . MY DOG HAS A SIEZURE PROBLEM AND BETTY HAS BEEN A FANTASIC HELP !!!! I DRIVE FROM THE CITY AND WOULDNT EVER GO TO A DIFFERENT VET.
