The doctor was nice, but the staffs were extremely rude!! They messed up our booking twice, and changed our appointment time without letting us know, then called us and told us that we were late. When I complain about it, I said I am not sure if I want to come back to your office if our booking always get messed up, the receptionist or the assistant who was on the phone did not apologize nor acknowledge there's a problem. Instead, she said "You don't ever have to come back again! bye bye" Then she hang up on me. Absolutely ridiculous! If she was that rude to me, I wouldn't trust my fur baby with her, or the clinic.

We started going to Garden City Vet around 20 yrs ago & have had no problems with the staff or Dr Charach. He is very shy & has a tendency to avoid eye contact so I can understand some of the comments. But he is excellent at diagnosing & takes his time explaining & answering questions. His prices are very competitive & reasonable. I just wrote a review for another Richmond vet & Dr Charach would never insist I buy pet insurance & then charge $800 for a simple procedure. We are taking our new puppy to Dr C & have spent $250 compared to my sister spending $1600 (& $45/mos insurance). Our pups are both 4 mos old & of different breeds.
He has a different staff than a few years ago (our dog passed on) & they seem very nice. One receptionist is Chinese speaking & he has a part-time vet who is Chinese but I don't know if she speak Mandarin or Cantonese. I'd recommend my friends to go to Garden City Vet Hosp.

I was extremely unimpressed with the service! The girls who work there are extremely rude and unprofessional. The clinic was dirty and the doctor was late. He took some time to talk to me about what was going on with my dog, but my whole experience was already ruined by the staff. The girl who spoke to me over the phone rushed me and when I came in later that day she was even worse! Apparently she works there full time and has been working there for months. Despite my service that was good from the vet, the staff there made me never want to go back.

Just moved to Richmond and found this clinic as to take my dog to for his annual examinations and vaccinations. It was easy to book appointments as the staff I talked to spoke Cantonese and was very accommodating with my preferred date and time. The doctor was professional and thorough with the examination of my pet and from the amount of information and knowledge he shared about canine health I felt that he genuinely cares for his patients. The cost of the general consultation was the same as many other clinics I have been to, but the vaccines were quite reasonably priced as it was a standard amount whether the patient needed one, two, or all 3 vaccines. Dr. Charach is now my dog's new veterinarian.

Dr. Charach have been seeing my dog for a few years now for various issues: routine check-ups, dental cleanings, as well as x-rays. One thing I really like about this clinic is that they offer a fixed cost for dental cleanings. I have been to other veterinary clinics before and their prices were 2-3 times more than what Dr. Charach charges. Other than that, I find their facility to be well equipped with an x-ray machine that worked fast. The film was literally ready within minutes and I was very pleased that I did not have to wait for a long time. From my experiences, Dr. Charach is certainly very knowledgeable and is willing to answer all my questions. Their staffs can speak different languages such as mandarin and cantonese, which is convenient for my mother (who doesn't speak English) when she brings my dog in for her annual exams. A few cons is that they may not have the dog food I need on hand all the time and that their office hours may change without notice.

I took my cat named Jasmin to the Garden City vet aprox 3 years ago with an abcessed tooth. I asked the vet whether I should put her to sleep or try to treat her. He said if it was my cat I would treat her and do a blood test to see how her kidneys are. He pulled the tooth treated her and I came back the same week on the Saturday and he continues treatment. Each time I came it as $300.00, I did inform him that I was having some difficulty financially and I was also worried about my cat suffering. I came for a total of 3 visits and she was getting worse to the point that she couldn't eat or barely walk. After the 3rd visit he recommended to come in again and and do another blood test etc.I tried the best I could to treat her.I had to inject water under her skin through an IV Bag. She suffered and got worse and finally she died hen I arrived at home. The lesson. Animals are different than people. I should have brought her to the SPCA and have her put to sleep?? A lesson learned for me.

I'm not sure who wrote the other 3 ratings but I just had a worst vet experience ever. He charged me over 300 dollars for ear yeast infection. He rushed things and my dog was terrified of him and his energy. He again rushed to flush his ear and was testing his ear wax under microscope without letting us know that everything was going to add up to become over $300. The receptionist was rude and was not professional at all. I had much more experienced nurses/receptionist in other vet offices. I was not happy with the experience and the cost but since I paid already I went back to ask if for sure it was just the ear yeast that he saw under the microscope, he quickly got upset and said he has 30 years of experience. Oh by the way because he locked the door to leave, I had to knock on the door to talk to him again.. When he saw me he HID behind a door!!!! I had to knock for a while to get his attention. He saw me and just turned around as if I was not there.

We've been taking our animals here (Cats and dog) since they were all little and have to compliment the professionalism as well as the humanity of the doctor. We've never felt rushed while there nor did we get the impression that our pets were just a number to be pushed through and the money processed. They really seem to care about the animal and educating you on doing what is best for your pet in the end.

My 10 year old dog had knee surgery. He's running around like a puppy. Nice staff. I'm very happy with this hospital.

Dr. Charach is a wonderful veterinian. He's treated "Lucy" since she was a pup and at 16 years old, she is so healthy. I took her in a few weeks ago because Lucy was having trouble with her back legs. Dr. Charach prescribed some medication and Lucy is running around like a puppy again. I feel like he really cares and takes a lot of time examining and asking questions about Lucy. The staff has been there for years and are very knowledgable.
