You get what you pay for. It's not good.They are not even that cheap, they just are not as good as the vets in city. No blood prior to surgery? Scary.not good value

I'd have to say I agree with the negative comments about the front staff. The times we were there they were not friendly, barely acknowledge you. Didn't seem that knowledgeable either about things that are in there industry and should know about. They didn't know anything about pet insurance when I asked questions about getting signed up for the free 6 weeks. Told me to go look it up on the internet. I worked for a vet for 8 years and we were always made sure to know what we were taking about,and had the knowledge to assist people with their questions. The place also has a very strong urine odor that is off putting. The vet we saw seemed good and knew what he was talking about. As for the rest of the staff they need some customer service training ASAP. Get clued in guys!

Just had our pup in for spaying dropped her off at 8 am they tried to say I said she was a mature dog that had a heat when actually she’s the complete opposite of that....waited until 3 and still no phone call....when I called they said oh yup she’s ok come get her at 5....arrived at 5 just wanted me to pay the bill take my dog with no information of how things went no verbal conversation with the vet who did her procedure no follow up nothing?? This is weird to me as usually I would expect a phone call and a update to how she did what was done....nope here’s your dog pay me bye! Very impersonal experience good care but the front staff could care less about you or your pet they just want the bill paid next in line!

I have been a client for >20 years and I can only say good things about Dr. Weste. Yes, she is busy, but that is because she is so good. I cannot say much about the other staff vets as I've generally always see Dr. Weste. She is very pragmatic and will tell you the truth even if it is bad news, and does not try to up-sell you treatments that aren't going to change the final outcome. The counter staff have always been fine as well. The prices are good as well, though I must admit that I haven't bothered to shop around as I trust them.

I had my Ausieedoodle puly in to see Dr. Goodman today and as always the experience was excellent. She takes the time to answer all my questions and provides excellent advice. She cared for my Portugese Water dog for a short time as she passed quickly with cancer, Dr. Goodman was very supportive and helpful. Having had dogs most of my life I have been to a number of clinics and the Weste in my experience is the best yet, I highly recommend them.

My 70 year old friend took his 13 year old cat who was very sick to the vet to have her put to sleep. My friend is outraged and in disbelief by what this vet did to his cat. The vet phoned him later that night to say he was sorry for the way he treated his cat, and my friend had some choice words for him before he hung up. My 70 year old friend is broken hearted and thinks the cat felt betrayed by the man who loved her by the way she was treated in her final 45 minutes on earth that was pure and simple torture by an incompetent vet

I am so surprised at reading negative reviews. We went to Dartmouth Vet for 20 years, then when they changed owners we switched to Companion in Cole Harbour. The prices and misdiagnosed ailments at both places had us up in arms as we rescue cats and have 9-11 at all times. A friend recommended Weste and from day one we have had nothing but polite staff, albeit they are very busy and have no time to chit chat and appear short but have never been rude. Dr Goodwin has seen 4 of our cats so far, diagnosed, treated correctly and they are healthy after 3 years of these ailments going on while going to Companion. The bill for these 4 now healthy cats was less than it would have been to see and treat one at any other veterinarian in HRM. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Dr Goodwin knows how to treat cats and ours all have been calm in her hands. Even our most timid cat relaxed in her hands. Love this Place!

Absolutely the rudest front staff. Never ask how you are doing, very condescending. Even the vets were not helpful. Everyone was in a rotten mood, and I've been going here for years. Finally decided enough is enough. Will never return and will tell everyone not to go. Absolutely worst vet in Dartmouth. Makes you feel like an idiot every time you go. Look elsewhere.

I'm new to this clinic. We've only seen Dr. Goodman and feel very comfortable with everything she has done to make our pet well. That over all is the most important thing.

I took my cat to Dr.Weste 3 or 4 times spent over $800 on medications that were not needed clearly. Took her somewhere else to come and find out my cat has Leukemia which is non treatable. My brother has been taking his dogs there for a long time and he has nothing bad to say, i honestly think she just knows a lot more about dogs or cares more about dogs. Also the front desk is seriously ignorant, they NEVER greet you or ask how you are. They never smile, and aren't helpful at all. I had a question and they simply just walked away and i wait for 5 or 6 minutes for someone to come back then I just left. A professional way to handle customers is "Can I help you with anything else" You will never get that here. You or your animal will never get any attention from the staff, They are there to do their job and leave. No professionalism at all.

Dr Weste is not there to milk you dry like many other vets. She seems to genuinely care about her 4-legged patients. I found her easy to talk to and pretty matter of fact which is exactly what I'd like to see in my pet's vet.

Great with dogs, very bad with cats. Told me my cat needed amidepressant pills. Told me that there was nothing wrong with my cat. Cost me $1000.00 to hear this info. Had to take my cat to another vet to do more work. I believed that my cat had a stone in her kidneys. Dr. Weste told me that my cat had mental problems. My cat could not go to the bathroom with out screaming in pain. I don't believe that is mental problems. I believe it is kidney. Found out from the other vet that she had a stone in her kidney. Had it removed. Found out it was a rare stone that was never seen before. My cat is doing great now and has been from some time. Just think Dr. Weste, my car is not crazy but was sick. Stick to dogs as you seem to work on them just fine. NEVER TOOK CAT THERE AGAIN.

I have nothing bad to say about Weste Animal Hospital we take all three of our pets there. The staff is friendly, & all about the animals!! I will never go to another vet, I trust these guys 100% with my babies!!!! For me its important to find a vet who is in it to help my animals not, just to make money & I know I found that with Weste animal hospital!!!

I have been taking my animals to Dr. Weste for over 20 years. She was the only one who would help me years ago when my cat was very sick without charging me a fortune and knew I had no money and let me pay installments. All she cared about was making the animal well. I had moved out of town and had to go to another vet for a few months when I inquired to them about how much it would cost to get my dog on epilepsy medication they told me it would be over $800.00 to do all the tests that were needed to put him on medication well I could not pay that when I moved back in to town I called Dr. Weste and was told it would only cost me $250.00 now tell me who cares about the animal more. Dr. Weste's clinic is the best.

They made a total mess out of my cat's behind. During phone conveersations with staff, one person indicated they had NOT given the cat a tranqualizer and in a later conversation the next person said they had. The cat was shaved half way up his back and his bum looks like he has hemoroids. They did not remove the matted hair from his stomach area because the first person said "our cat was not being very nice". The cat is 13, has no front claws and is gentle. They did a terrible job on this animal and we will never return to this clinic again

We have been going to Weste Animal Hospital for approximately 12 years and have received excellent care and attention. Dr. Weste is a very compassionate and caring vet and more importantly our animals love her!

Took my cat here after he peed blood all over me. Dr. Weste ran a bunch of tests and sent the results to a lab in PEI - they got lost en route, no refund was given and after I took my cat to another vet I found out that all of the tests were unnecessary and that in the situation my cat was in a urinalysis - sticking a ph stick in some of their pee which Weste Animal Hospital can do on-site - would have diagnosed his problem and saved me over $300. NEVER AGAIN!
