Click to report rating    2/11/24   1     3     1     1   We brought our 8 yr cat Samba in for diagnostic testing to find out why he was losing weight. He had an ultrasound exam and when finished Dr. Hillock talked us into having an endoscopy for a more definitive diagnosis. He said "it was safe and well tolerated". So we left and waited to be called to come get him at 4pm. When we got there we were told there was a problem with his recovery. We had to sit in the waiting room for 2 hours before we were spoken to by Dr. Hillock who told us that Samba had dropped his blood pressure coming out of the anesthesia. They were trying to save his life from an uncontrollable abdominal bleeding. He was being worked on in the critical care area but after discussing Samba's condition with Dr. Henke, the intensivist, we decided to have Samba euthanized to "end his suffering" because even with surgery Samba wouldn't survive. THEY KILLED HIM and charged us $5000.00 for their costs of trying to save him from an injury they caused! RID: 70989
Click to report rating    5/11/14   5     5     5     4   I first started going to VMCLI when my dog was diagnosed with lymphoma. I consulted with an oncologist, Dr. Brodsky. He explained everything to me and I opted to go ahead with chemo. Though it was expensive for the chemo, it gave me a year & 10 months with my Maggie, which I would only have had a month otherwise. I can't say enough about how caring he was. I also had to rush her in a couple of times to the ER and they also were very kind. The girls at the front desk were always very kind and I can't tell you how many times Margaret came from behind the desk to give me hugs when I sat so upset in the waiting room. Yes, they are expensive, but I would recommend them and would use them again, if needed. Since losing Maggie we have gotten a new puppy and Dr. Brodsky asks me to come by to visit him with our new puppy. RID: 51529

5/6/14   3     2     1     2   Do your homework and don't be fooled by bells & whistles!!! Make a list of questions, bring it with you, & check facts before appt. Then check the answers after your appt. Sadly, it's like a "get em in, get em out" place. Make sure you watch everything & educate yourself or you will easily get taken advantage. You don't need to book any appt. that day. Take home info & pet and check everything!! Check back round, references (NOT listed on the site) No one ever has the same experience with anything Don't let your pet suffer for "the experts" mistakes and carelessness! DO YOUR HOMEWORK! (the best rating was for the front end, they are trying to compensate for the rest of the center) RID: 51433

Click to report rating    5/2/13   3     5     5     3   Great emergency staff, but avoid Dr. Hillock if you use this vet's internal medicine services. I found him to be condescending and generally disinterested in my very sick pet's health. He ignored my input on my pet (bloodwork later proved me right) and I'm sure she would've lived longer had a better doctor cared for her. I expect more from a vet hospital like this, particularly one that is so expensive. RID: 42246
Click to report rating    2/25/13   3     2     1     1   while the staff are verry nice, understanding and noligable. the doctors exept for that i met are snotty, phoney and quik to send you away or advise putting your animal down if you dont have much money. the building is nice and spacious in the front but sometimes over pact and overwelmed in treatment area. with sick or injured dogs laying around on the floor or tied to a door nob from lack of cages. my 12 year old lab was dying and suffering having verry diffaculties breathing and bleading from the mouth there was no hope.i had already paid 600 dollars as dr fondacaro steped over my dog to exit the room informing mehe would not help end his suffering until i came up with an extra 50 dollars. it took me about an hour to get a family members credit card, as they were prossessing the payment jake my dog passed on his own. the whole expierience left a bad taste in me my wife and 12 year old mouth.little sypathy for a living being suffering is how we felt. i would never recomend them.
