A couple of their vets are very professional and not completely $ driven. Unfortunately ownership is greedy so they are to me one of the most, if not the most expensive in the city. As suggested by friends I will stay away from this vet hospital from now on

I can't thank the staff of the Family Pet Hospital enough for their diligent and compassionate care and concern for my cat. What was intended to be a routine dental turned out to be much more involved and required on - going care and a trip back to the clinic. Dr Kate and the team were so kind to him and to us all along the way and I know that she went far beyond what would normally be expected, for this I am so grateful!! All of the procedures were shared with me up front as well, an estimate was provided before any work was done - the bill was less than the estimate! Dr Kate communicated with me daily, sometimes twice a day and was willing to come in on her days off to make sure that our 4 legged friend was going to be alright. A special shout out goes to Mindy for all of the support and care along the way - so grateful that we still have our friend with us and for Dr Kate and the team!! Highly recommend this Vet and her very special staff!!!

This is a $$$ clinic, but that to me is not the issue. We adopted a 2 1/2 year old cat and took her in for a health check & spay. This cat captured our hearts quickly. I was very nervous about the surgery and wanted the best for her; willingly paid for the "extras". Surgery went well. I was sent home with 3 doses of oral Metacam. Fortunately I looked it up first and never gave it to her. It is specifically not to be used orally in cats, they are at huge risk of acute renal failure and there is no safety margin. Cats DIE. The risk is even higher taking orally after they receive a Metacam shot during surgery (an acceptable one-time use). All the mfctr info warns against oral use in cats and yet the vet, a feline expert, did not warn me or provide me this info? I was just told to watch her appetite and for lethargy. I am appalled. She is a small cat and who knows what might have happened. She has been fine w/o meds but there are safer pain meds if needed. I will not go back there.

Why does it cost over $300 to euthanize my cat and I call Green Acres and it's only $100? Explain to me why there is such a BIG difference in cost??? It makes me so mad that they are doing that.

I brought my pet here only once. I had to wait 45 mins after my apt time to see the vet. I could hear the staff phoning him from another room to tell him that his patient has been waiting. He took my concerns seriously...but then tried to convince me that the first test we should run was a CT Scan! At the cost of $1000! When I declined and decided on the blood work instead...It was another 50 mins before he came back with results. All in all the staff was good but I don't have 3 hours to spend at the vet. My time is valuable to me I'll do what I have to do for my dog but this could have been way more efficient.

My dog likes to play this game where he appears sick (mopey, lethargic, "just not himself"). When he does this, I take it seriously and bring him in (only happened twice). Anyways, the first time I brought him the vet was very arrogant and made me feel dumb for coming in. He was nice enough to give me a discount but I was more unsatisfied with how I felt. Went in again this week and wasn't treated badly, but didn't feel heard. My dog is still not acting himself even after being looked over. His temperature and the rest were fine. But it seemed that just because his stats were normal my concerns were dismissed. If he doesn't doesn't turn around in the next day or so I am going to look for a second opinion. I paid $137.00 - seemed steep for vaccinations and a wellness check. Could just be my dog being weird, regardless I am one big on customer service not just what a company can offer.

I have been there twice and had poor service each time. 1st time at 11:00 pm at night and the vet wanted to know why I was coming there when instead of my regular - it was a emergency shouldn't his first concern been the dog? Quoted on the phone for a procedure and then paid $40 to come and get a written quote - $1000 differece. Unethical I say. Had a scripted filled there, sat for almost 2 hours while they sorted thru paperwork (they had all day with the order) to find out that they didn't even have the meds. By that time it was the end of the day so my dog had to make due. Wouldn't common sense tell you to check you supplies before you tell another vet office you will fill a script?

We brought our dog to the Family Pet Hospital and found the receptionist to be very helpfull, the assistant kept us aware to what was going on and what it was all going to cost so we knew what to expect, the vet was both compationate and did a good job. The facility is clearly top notch. We will be back again for sure for check-ups and vaccines also when that is due. Thank you Family Pet staff for doing a great job.

I had to bring my cat in for she had cut her tail so bad and was bleeding all over..I called this vet clinic knowing that they handled emergencies. Dr.Kate was the best vet I have ever had deal with any of my cats. She was concerned and reassuring to me. The total cost I found no different in price than other vet would have charged. I then brought my other two cats in the following week for their checkups. I would highly recommend this clinic. The staff were as well very friendly and loving towards my cats. I love that Dr.Kate actually took the time and cared. The bills for the checkups as well were comparable to other clinics.

Dr Kate Lupton is the most professional, caring, compassionate vet I have ever dealt with. She has gone above and beyond for me and my pets (2 cats 1 dog). She is knowledgable and informative providing the highest level of care for my critters. For example: My puppy got fixed at the clinic and I had a very busy day at work the next couple days. The clinic was so accommodating and kept her for an extra day with a for me to ensure she wasn't alone and cared for. I have had numerous close calls with my puppy and they have always been very helpful with prompt professional care. I know Dr Lupton specializes in feline, but I she has been amazing with my puppy and I would never go anywhere else.

I have had two very bad experiences. My dog had a cancerous lump that the clinic told me was benign. Also, the pads of my dogs foot we sluffing and the vet wanted me to do $1000 in test because they told me it was liver disease. She said in five years she had only seen this condition once before and that it is very severe. I got a second opinion in fort macleod and was told that sluffing is very common as dogs burn their feet on pavement in the summer. they told me to put a sock on her foot and it healed in a few weeks. They also tested my dogs lump as part of the visit and found it was cancerous and removed it for the same cost the vet at the pet hospital quoted to test the lump. The family pet hospital is completely incompetent.

Love, love, love this clinic. This is the only clinic that has been a dream for me. I have had nothing but bad luck with my 2 dogs and the staff have been amazing. With the most up to date equipment they are able to do tests right in the clinic that others have to send away to labs. If you cannot give the vet in detail what your pet is experiencing how do you expect to get a firm diagnosis. Your pet isn't going to tell them. Yes, I do agree that this clinic is a little more on the pricey side but they are willing to accommodate if you just ask. My lab was diagnosed with megaesophagus and his vet was kindest lady ever. Even taking her days off to come and see how he was doing and phone me on any minor detail. That is dedication. My border collie had meningitis every time she got her shots. The vets were kind enough to give me discounts anyway they could including a $1000 dollar cat scan-FREE! I found my perfect clinic where staff know my name and most importantly what my dogs mean to me

This clinic is not only overcharging customers, but is also charging clients for services not actually performed. If you do take your animals in for care, make certain the items listed on the invoice are for actual services or care your pet received!

We took our sick puppy to Family Pet Hopsital with a fear of parvovirus because she had some of the main symptoms- loss of appetite, vomiting, sore tummy. The vet who examined her said she was hypoglycemic, even though he DID NOT test her for this. He gave her some corn starch, a shot to stop the vomiting, fluid under the skin, and sent us on our way with a can of dog food. When our puppy was still showing signs of nausea and would not eat, we called back and they told us to "be patient." When she still wouldn't eat at noon we called back and were told we would hear from the vet. We never did and that's when we decided to get a second opinion at a different clinic. Turned out our puppy has parvovirus and because of the lack of care we received at this clinic, our puppy had to suffer an extra day without medical attention. We asked for a refund so we could put it towards our puppy's new bills and the clinic denied us. We are extremely unsatisfied with the respect and care they gave us.

BEWARE: This is NOT a 24 hour emergency pet clinic. Unless you have previously booked 'an appointment' you will be considered 'an emergency' and charged an extra $80 even during normal business hours. Talk about MISLEADING ADVERTISING! Should you have an emergency 'outside' of normal business hours you can expect the costs to be double or triple of what they should be. I have used this clinic on two occasions and will NEVER give them any business again. They are out to get your money and don't particularly care about the welfare of your pets!

The tech we had upon our arrival for an after hours emergency was great. However the vet chose to focus on issues other than the immediate problem. And the he and the replacement tech chose to let my cat scream in anger, for 30 minutes, as they tried to administer IV fluids instead of coming to get me to calm him down. In the end I left with a $700 bill, some drugs and medicated food to address a potential problem, and nothing done to address the problem that caused the emergency visit. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone.

It was like the staff that helped me were asleep. The AHT and vet were both slow. A quick checkup and vaccine took over an hour because they kept leaving the room after I asked them a question. I will not return to this clinic and I reccomend that you should choose another vet clinic in Lethbridge if you have the chance. Never before have I been so unimpressed with the knowledge base of vet 'professionals'.

I found myself coming home to my 14 year old dog having breathing issues to the point of turning blue,so I called the emergency line at family pet hospital.I spoke directly with the veterinarian and explained that my dog had a history of collapsing trachea and was having touble breathing. The vet could hear my dog in the back ground and urged me to bring him in right away. I explained to the veterinarian that I did not have alot of money and definately could not afford a big bill. He assured me it would not be excedingly expensive and so we left for the hospital. He put my dog on oxygen, took x-rays and did blood work on my dog. The vet then gave my dog some injections to help his breathing and medication to go home. I was prepared to have to put my dog to sleep that night due his problems, age and the cost of treating him. The vet saved my dogs life. As for my bill I was so grateful the vet considered my finacial situation with a very reasonable bill. Thank you for helping my pet.

One person already said they were disguisted with this Clinic. I entirely agree. Think in your head the highest amount you figure a vet would charge you for whatever care you need. The highest amount you think they would charge you. Now triple it. I am a person who loves my animals so much, I am willing to pay higher vet prices for good veterinarian care. But these people are bankrupting me. I also know from personal experience they do unnecessary procedures on animals and unnecessary tests to inflate the bill as much as possible. They definitley prey on the love people have for their animals. This Clinic is disguisting, shameful and evil. They WILL put your pets health on the bottom of the list to make big bucks. I do not say this lightly. Unfortunately, I say it from experience. If you care about your pet don't take them here. Your pet will get suboptimal care and you will be taken to the cleaners. I also know of very many many others who have the same complaint with them.

I had to take my puppy here as an emergency because the West side vet that performed his neuter does not have any after hours clinic. I was totally unaware of this when I had my puppy neutered. Even though the vet was very kind and the staff were nice, I do not feel that it was worth the $300 I was charged (in addition to the neuter and which the other vet will not cover). All that was done was an emam, some antibiotics and anti inflammatories. Beware, this is a very expensive clinic

Took my pup there with a gash in her nose, brought me a estimate to sew it up, price was almost $500.00, when i told them i could not afford that, they crossed a bunch of "un-nessisary" costs off to reduce the bill to just over $200, what was the point of the other things when they were not nessisary to start with?! just another cash grab! never will i take me animals there again!

I am absolutely digusted with this Clinic. I can not believe that they are allowed to charge the fees they do. Playing on the emotions of animal owners. My daughter had to put down her puppy because they could not afford the outrageous prices they were paying per day for the dog to stay there while they tried to figure out what was wrong.

Took my puppy here because I was concerned about his health and it was late on a friday. Had to pay 100 for an "emergency fee" becaause I didn't have an appointment even though there was NO ONE else there, then another 80 for the vet to even look at him. It ended up costing 400.00 after all was said and done. Later on in the week I was discussing my experience with someone else who told me that their pup had the exact same thing and it only cost him 90 dollars. WHAT A RIP OFF...I definately agree that this clinic plays off the emotions of loving pet owners with nothing but dollar signs in their minds. I will NEVER go here again and I (along with many heated others) have been doing my best to spread the nasty word to anyone and everyone that I possibly can. In the future I would rather pay for a vet to come to my house in an emergency than to give these 'theifs' any more of my money.

We recently used the 24h clinic for our pup who had a broken leg.I cant say enough about the staff who looked after him while being there. During his stay we had made it clear what we were willing to pay & what we could afford to fix our dog. They had to bring in a specialist to repair his leg, which I cant say enough about. He was upfront about everything & was very straight forward on his opinions. When I signed documentation on the cost of the surgery,I never thought we would be getting a bill for DOUBLE the quote & I am talking a couple of thousands. When we confronted the clinic,we were told that things went over A LITTLE.I asked if we had commited to a $ amount & couldnt pay for the remainder,I was told the animal in question would be put down..no payment options were given. There were things we were mislead throughout the days and stories changed to support the increase in price. The doctors they have are great, but the ethics SUCK.BEWARE..they WILL push your boundry & if they can.
