Having to take your beloved pet to the emergency is by itself very sad and stressful. Having the emergency doctor mistreat you on top of all that, is unforgivable. DR. NANCY PRAGOSA was DISRESPECTFUL, CONDESCENDING, RUDE, ARROGANT AND INSENSITIVE to me, my husband and our family Vet. We had 4 telephone conversations with her that day, and if the hospital really records phone conversations for quality control, I urge the management of this institution to listen how DR. NANCY PRAGOSA treated us during this difficult time. People like Dr. Pragosa should not be dealing with people or animals in a vulnerable situation. It is obvious that professionalism and empathy do not come natural to her, but respect should be the minimum standard, and she even fails at that. The people who are in charge of this business should not allow this to happen to anybody else, ever again.

My dog lost her life because of this money hungry clinic. I'll call it a clinic because it's not a reputable hospital that's for sure. They treat your loved one like garbage & see dollar signs on their foreheads. There only priority is to take advantage as much as they can. To take as much money from you that they can. Your fur family will pay the ultimate price with their life.PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!

Rip off artists ...and incompetent hacks. They are only concerned about making money and finding ways to bill extra. DO NOT TRUST what they say. Their surgeon screwed up our dogs operation and will not admit to any wrongdoing

It definitely felt more like a transaction than loving & caring of my dog.
After several tests and 3 days of hospitalization stay, it was finally decided to do an ultrasound where it was discovered our little boy had severe internal organ issues. They could do no more for him.
Even as I went to go discharge him and bring him home, the Dr. on staff asked me to perform another test on him. It was only another $100.
The last Dr. on staff was terrible, I asked him for opinion of health of dog but his only comment was he was an ER Dr and I needed to see a specialist.
I had no direction from the staff here other than book another appointment.
They handed Oliver back to me and off I was out the door with not another word. He smelled so bad from lack of bathing.
Our boy Oliver passed away last night. I am disappointed to have gone here.
It breaks my heart to think he spent last few days in this terrible place, smelling bad and not around people who truly love him.

I recently travelled a great distance to this clinic with my small dog after she sustained an injury to her leg/back, during an encounter with larger dog. Although staff at front desk could see that she could barely walk, they were rude and uncompassionate. The waiting room was completely empty, however, they claimed the clinic was at capacity and I would have to take my dog to another clinic (Clarkson Village Animal Hospital), even though I was upset and unfamiliar with the area. In contrast, staff/vet at CVA were caring and compassionate and I met 4 other couples who had also been to the Mississauga/Oakville clinic and were extremely dissatisfied with the staff and/or treatment received. As there are very few after hours clinics available in the area, and the fees at the Mississauga/Oakville clinic are exhorbitant, I guess they feel they can get away with treating customers this way during an emotional time. I will never travel here again and recommend that others avoid this clinic

We were sent here by our vet because our mini poodle had elevated liver enzymes. We were triaged promptly at 2:00 PM and then the wait began. About an hour later they did an ultrasound and then we waited some more. At around 6:00 PM I asked when we could expect to hear from somebody. At 7:00 we were told by a vet that there was no pancreatitis as feared and they didn't know what the problem was except that it was liver related. At 8:00 we were given 56 pills and a bill for $1200. They wanted to hospitalize our dog at $500 per day plus plus and we asked if that was really necessary. The answer I was given was that it depended on how much we cared for our dog. How disgusting a thing to say is that. I wish I had an alternative to offer but I don't, although there is a very good 24/7 clinic on Norseman in Etobicoke. Much more caring people and much more reasonable pricing. If you go here be prepared for a long wait and a big bill. In our case the treatment was questionable as well.

I want to start off by saying that this was a VERY expensive visit to the vet emergency, but I don't think that's the clinic's fault - so I gave a good value rating. I believe most hospitals would be equally expensive for the number of services offered. We found the staff here VERY responsive, took the most logical route forward for our pup who was suffering from a mystery illness, and walked us through our options. Very empathetic to the situation. Unfortunately, it didn't end well for us, but I wish I'd have found this clinic years ago. Worth the drive from Toronto. I was impressed by the number of services and specialties located in this one building. We'll bring our other dog here for sure if an emergency arises.

The one thing i will say first, is yes bringing your pet here is going to cost money. They are an emergency clinic, and you can expect to pay. But being a pet owner, you should know the associated costs/risks. I had to bring my dog Lucky in the other night as he ended up getting bloat and his stomach twisted. As anyone who experienced this knows, this can be fatal. The team diagnosed and operated on him right away and im happy to report he has done remarkably well. I was always in the loop as to how he was doing, and you could tell that the staff was not treating him as just another patient. They were all very personable and cared about Lucky's well being. Honestly, they helped take one of the scariest moments in my life, and put me more at ease. My Lucky was in the best hands, and I am forever grateful.

Brought our rescue dog in to have stitches removed. She had had an eye removed due to an injury and original owner wanted to euthanize her.Surgery paid by rescuer($3,500) and given to us as good home as he could not take her long term. Surgery cost paid by rescuer who was there at this clinic before and after surgery. They had no problem taking rescuer's money for surgery and he phoned the clinic before the suture removal appointment to inform them that we now were the new dog owners. After waiting a long time for our dog's appointment we were told they could not remove the sutures as she was not our dog. when we explained the situation the vet treated us condescendingly and said she did not have time to deal with this situation. They had no problem taking the rescuer's money for the surgery yet created roadblocks to our dog's follow up treatment. Eventually the original owner who had originally wanted the dog put down phoned the clinic to say she surrendered guardianship.Very upsetting

Never make the mistake of bringing your pet here. I brought my dog 5 months ago and they misdiagnosed my pet. They sent us home after consultation when they could have kept him due to the seriousness of his condition. 10 hours after I rushed him back, was put in ICU and died the next morning. My bill of one day in ICU was $5000! The vet said she might have IVDD but dies of pancreatitis the next day. It brought us so much sadness, worse, upon realizing that if he was diagnosed correctly and was not sent home, due to the life threatening condition of pancreatitis instead of IVDD, our dog might have been alive today. It was a great mistake and regret that I brought him here. Also I could have first read all these reviews here before bringing him there.

Worst vets on the planet. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. My cat died here. She could have lived. This could have been prevented. I brought her in the morning and they told me to take her back home and monitor as no tests could be done because their cardiologist was not in. They rushed me to sign papers & front of staff kept giggling. They did nothing, recommended no medication. They said she seemed fine and charged me for nothing. She stopped breathing that evening and I rushed to them again. They did CPR and said not have any hope as there was no chance of survival. The doctors don't even do anything. They just type on their computer while you talk. They basically repeat everything you say and type it up for you and then charge you $1000+ for talking to them. My cat is dead and I am beyond upset. She was only 11. These people got paid for just CPR which was the last step. They did nothing in the morning when I came in and told me to go home. RIDICULOUS. I am crushed. My cat was my life.

Wow, I wish I read these reviews before I took my dog to this hospital. The front desk ppl were nice and helpfull, but I waited almost 2hours after the time of my appt. the doctor was very nice to my dog, however, she made the wrong diagnosis. They charged me for 3 eye exams, 2 of which had already been done by the vet at "DESMOND ANIMAL Hospital" (another place to avoid) and came back negative. She sent me home with 3 useless ointments. Long story shory, my dog had cushings, which is very common for dogs, and this eye specialist failed to see that my dogs retina is degenerating! Now my dog is blind, because this symptom in cushings is irreversible....

Of course I found this site after I got fleeced of money. I came in to have my dog checked for a apparent infection in his mouth. The first 2 times we have no idea what they checked but not his mouth but was charged the full amount. The next night we had to come back and we heard from Dr. GOULET that he has all of his teeth removed at the cost of 3000 dollars or they could euthanasia him if we don't have the money. Very professional in extorting money.... Today we picked him up at a total bill of about 4500.00 dollars. A overrun of 50 percent. It is very apparent that the staff there is not only bad at manners but also with math. This Hospital should be shut down for numerous reasons and I will spent time and money to contact other pet owners to file a class action law suit against these people. St least try to get them more regulated so they can't rip off pet owners anylonger

My Dog underwent three serious operations there, all successful. Staff was great, doctors were great. They are more expensive but they have all the equipment at hand and are excellent surgeons. I don't understand the negative comments, I wouldn't hesitate to bring my animals there for treatment, especially serious situations. Highly recommended and my thanks to their great staff.

KEEP AWAY. My cat died horribly here when it shouldn't have happened. I think it was from lack of interest or expertise and I have complained to OVC. The staff seemed friendly enough, but I can't really judge the facilities as I wasn't allowed to be with my pet in the examination room. They were punctual enough since I was the only one there at first. (Go to better rated place, i.e. Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Brampton, or Vet Emerg. Hospital of W. To in Etobicoke.

The reception staff are rude and basically make you feel guilty when they should approach more professionally. People skills and tactfulness need some serious work. They have disregard for people and the fact that unplanned things happen. They also like to mention how much money they have lost because of you. I can highly recommend another emergency clinic close by that is fantastic, both with the animals and their owners. I will NEVER use this clinic.

After reading such negative reviews, I'm compelled to share my story. I was referred by my vet as my dog had a luxating patella. Dr. Sylvestor was fantastic. She got down on the floor to examine my dog - she was very gentle and patient. When I told her that I was nervous about my dog being put under, she assured me. The day of the surgery, there was a very bad snow storm. She called me after the surgery (as is the norm) but then again around 7pm before she left for the day. She demonstrated concern and compassion for both my dog and myself. When I was referred again for the same dog, other knee, I had already done some proactive things like diet and exercise. Rather than surgery, she suggested that we monitor the situation. In the end, there was no need for surgery.

As an emergency clinic they are only interested in fast money. We had a life and death situation arise and they knew we were coming. The bottom line is we waited for 4 hours before emergency surgery began. One life was lost waiting and the other life barely survived. We had to take our dog to our vet the next day to be resutured as the stitches started to come undone. Weekend staff were cold, rude and incompetent. Before they would even see us we had to agree to a fee of $4000 to $5000. Big business corporation runs this outfit. There are other emergency vet clinics out there. We will never walk through those doors again. If I could take out an ad outlining what they did I could gladly do so. Money is the priority here.

My dog was hit by a car. As soon as I walked in, they grabbed my dog and took her to the back while throwing papers at me to sign. Front staff were rude, provided no adequate updates on my dog's condition. $1000 later and I was told I had to see the vet neurologist there (more money? you bet!) She told me my dog had nerve damage on her spine, causing paralysis in her back legs and I would need to spend $2000 on an MRI and $6000 on surgery that isn't guaranteed to work. Being young and single, she obviously knew I didn't have the money and told me I could adopt my dog out to someone who was willing to spend the $$ for the surgery. Infuriating! I took my dog to my own vet, put her on steroids and pain killers and waited. 2 weeks later, she gained mobility in her legs and started walking again. Today (2 months later) she is back to her old self, running around, enjoying life, no more meds and certainly no surgery! Avoid being robbed by this place - they see it as a cash grab only!!

I took my miniature dachshund here for a simple heartworm blood test. Every other clinic I've been to in Canada always permitted me to be with & hold my dog while this test was performed. This was NOT permitted here & they just ripped her from my arms & took her to the back to draw blood. The test seemed to take much longer than necessary & when they returned her to me they just threw her into my arms & she stunk to high heaven of rubbing alcohol. She was trembling terribly in fear which is very unusual for her when getting this test. When I inquired what they done to scare her so badly, I was told she wouldn't sit quiet & they had to stick her 3 times in order to draw blood. If I had been with her, this would have never occurred. The staff were very 'testy', the fee was 4X what I normally paid elsewhere & I discourage everyone from using this clinic. They have no compassion & you aren't permitted to even meet the vet that will be working on your 'furbaby'. So I CAUTION you... BEWARE!

The worst. Just selling medical porceedures that are not needed. Incompitnet Docs who botched a simple 6 stich gash on my dogs leg. they had to redo it and charged ustwice a s much as the first time. the Chinese doctor told us we could consider putting her down if we cannot pay? She is a health and energetic 10 year old Cockapoo with ideal weight and disposition. Why would they even tell that to someone??? No compassion, synmpathy or empathy, but that's what i expect from a people who will run over children, crap on the streets and pick thier nose in front of you and just walk away. Over 3000 for a small cut from another dog bite. They let it go bad asking me "how does it look to me?"...like i know what a bite shoud look like. the doctor told me not to worry, the scab will likely come off all at once and that is fine..... It did and when i brought her back because it was bleeding, they said they have to do another surgury and then tallied another 2000 for a repeat surgury. Very in

Past experience with the clinic evoked sad memories - having brought 21 year old kitty in on long weekend. Compassionate but sad ending. More recently our pup was treated here, critically ill and in for 4+ days. Excellent care, patient and caring staff, very flexible with our pup whose immune system bottomed out and was in isolation, IV, hand fed ... Many tests and costs were high, but itemized bill left no questions. Pup recovered, which was a very, very happy outcome. In the toughest time, we had the comfort of knowing that everything possible was being done. Have returned a few times during after hours when our own vet was closed. Would not hesitate to use this clinic.

Be careful, this is a really poor operation. Do your holework before going there and do not use emotion.Be very careful before dealing with this hospital. It is a sales operation, not an emergency hospital. They sent us an invoice for approximately $5,000 four months after our dog passed as the result of unauthorized surgery. They then hired a collection agency to harass us at home for the payment. They sued and we counter sued. The end result is that we lost part of our family.......... and the didn't get the additional money. What's worse is that the charges prior to the last invoice were over $8,000.00 for four days of care. Be very careful and if possible do your homework. If I could rate them it would be a minus 100 ***

They are only interested in dollar signs here. They told me to either spend 16000 dollars for surgery for my dog for her back or put her down. She was 3 years old. luckily a friend told me to go to a vet that does chiropractic care, and my dog got better quickly and with no thousands of dollar price tag! They also lied when I asked them about chiropractic care and said they never heard of it

The care we received today was wonderful. We saw Dr. Hensalman and Jody, they were both very sensitive and honest with the options. Unfortunately we had to put our wonderful little Smokey down, because even if he was able to survive the operation (which was unlikely), he would only have 4-6 months maximum to live, and that is not a quality life.

The staff are a fantastic group of people. They treat the patients and their owners very well. Even the receptionists would often come from behind the front desk to give our dog a pat and a few soft words. Our golden retriever suffered from lymphoma and was treated with chemo. Her Oncologist, Dr. Meredith Gauthier and her assistant, Heather, provided wonderful care and support. They were available every step of the way, in person and by phone, to handle any questions or worries. Thanks to them we were able to spend 18 more months with our lovely girl. We will always be grateful to them. Hopefully, we never need them again but wouldn't hesitate to go back if we did.

I was concerned, after reading the other review of this facility, about taking my dog there to see a specialist.I have to say that I had the opposite to the negative experience noted by others. The vet, Dr. Wellington (dermalogist)was wonderful. She was gentle and kind with my dog and patiently answered my questions. She diagnosed my dogs problem in less than 20 min and then I was out the door shortly after with a reasonable bill. Overall, I was very satisfied and would go back there, especially to see the specialists.

I was left waiting for 5 hours when I brought in my dog--I also felt my dog got less than adequate care and she did end up having to be put to sleep after $12,000 in charges. I was not happy and found the whole experience heartbreaking and gutwrenching. I would not go back there.

We were referred to see 2 specialists here. We ended up spending most of our time with technicians. The first specialist examined my pet then took him away to be looked at by the second specialist. I didn't even get to meet the second doctor, nor could I ask any questions about his diagnosis. The technicians went out of their way to be as accomadating as possible but I truly felt taken advantage of. I was charged for 2 specialist fees. I don't mind paying for these skilled doctors but I should at least get time with them. I will say the first specialist did follow up with my regular vet and we did get a written report. I drove a long way to this clinic as it came highly recommended but left feeling disappointed. The facilities themselves are modern and the waiting room is very large. I spent a lot of time waiting that day and again the technicians did their best to make me welcome and comfortable. But I really did go there to see the doctors!

The techs at this place really make you and your pet happy. They are very friendly. The place is very modern, with you will see in the prices. It's ALWAYS open and like i said, as a client, you incur these costs through medication and visits. Only once we had to wait about 2 hours for our appointment which we almost walked out on. The vet who helped us was very rude and was walking out the door as we were asking questions. The only reason we return is the facility has the meds we need and the techs are amazing people who make your dog feel comfortable. They have one side for Emergency and the other for Referral.
