I took my young pup here after an accident where she broke her toe and had an open wound. I was told to have the toe removed. After having the xrays done, I asked if there wasn’t another solution. She explained only a cast, but that would have to be changed each week and it could be just as costly as the amputation. I asked her to just clean and stitch the wound and I will think overnight. She was very insistent on the amputation. However, she said they were closing and would not stitch the wound. Just bandages it. It was a very costly visit for an X-ray and wrap. Over $500. The next day I called another vet, who someone referred me to. I am so glad I did not go back here. The other vet operated, saved the toe, did not use a cast, gave me meds, and I even went back for shots and altogether cost less. My new vet really cares about the animal and my pups toe is doing just great!

I have been a long time client of this clinic and will now be leaving. The combination of decreased service and increased fees are the reason. I recently took my dog in for an ear infection and was up-sold a cytology and 3 different types of shampoo. The medication I received cost $76. I contacted 3 other vets and the cost was $45 for the exact same medication. This philosophical change of "profit over pet" has resulted in me changing vets.

Very expensive clinic, recent visit did not go well and newly appointed office manager Samantha Larson was not willing to compromise for long time client with no pet insurance.

Dr Aarbo is one of the best vets I have ever been too. During the summer I had to take my large breed dog to be looked over as his health was deminishing rather quick. After a long check over she found that he had some serious nerve issues involving his back a back legs. At that time I had been to many vets about the same issues and all tried forcing expensive drugs and food on me to see if it would fix the issue. Dr Aarbo explained all options and let me decide what was best for my pet. I will always use Dr Aarbo for all my future vet visits.

I have moved a lot, & have always had animals. I have used many vets/clinics for yearly checkups, emergency visits, etc. I can honestly say that I have never met a more knowledgable, friendly, caring, & attentive vet than Dr. Aarbo. The staff is always such a delight to deal with, they are up front and honest with pricing as well. I had to have my dog of 15 years put down in Dec. It was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make. Dr. Aarbo was so kind & honest. She stated that there were other complications on top of my concerns & further testing would be required to properly diagnose the issues of major concern (heart & lungs). With all of the health problems, I made the difficult choice to let my dog move on. Everyone involved was amazing in my time of sorrow. I was given as much time as I needed to be with my dog before & after. All of the staff that I have met at this clinic are obviously animal lovers, & are compassionate & caring. Thank you, I will always recommend you.

This clinic saved my Boston Terrier's life. Dr. Aarbo rapidly and correctly diagnosed my dog with a very rare and normally fatal infection based solely on clinical presentation (immediately confirmed with lab results.) So blessed that Dr. Aarbo was on duty and so quick to act. Gertie has enjoyed many bonus years on this planet thanks to Dr. Aarbo. Highly recommend.

Have been bringing my Yorkie to the Shawnessy South Pet Hospital for the last four years. It's about a 45 minute drive for me but I couldn't imagine any other vet dealing with my furbaby. They are prompt, send out proper reminders, provide extremely professional consultation, recommendations and treatment. You can get service anywhere but care is something special and the clinic provide incredible care. The team should be very proud of the product they deliver!!! Thanks!!!

Absolutely amazing service. We brought our dog in last minute and Shawnessy South Pet Hospital was very accommodating and even called us the next day to check on our dog. The staff were exceptional and very kind hearted. I could tell they really loved their work in the way they handled the animals and customer service was great! Very impressed and I definitely would recommend.

Brought our pet to this clinic as she experienced lameness in her left leg. This clinic was unable to properly diagnose her despite x-rays, costly sedation to manipulate the leg (came home worse) and multiple visits. The dog had a torn ligament and was immediately diagnosed at the CARE Centre just by touching the leg after weeks of NO DIAGNOSIS. TWO vets took our money and we received NO HELP from this clinic. Go anywhere else but here...they want your money despite knowing very little!!!

Really friendly staff and I feel good value for service received. We brought our dog in for an emergency and they took her immediately and began treatment. They offered us options to minimize cost and assured us, which we really appreciated.

Amazing. We have had a fair few share of our pets and have been taking them to this clinic for years. Through the tragic losses to the new additions, this clinic does a wonderful job with our pets. Wouldn't take them anywhere else. The only thing we can think to recommend would be the option of bringing in "visiting" specialists. Pain management specialists. Senior cat specialists. It would be nice for some of the unfortunate illnesses that come with having special case pets.

The customer service and veterinarian were excellent. I unfortunately cannot bring my animals or return to this location as they use Scentsy wax warmers that make me extremely ill. They contaminated the package of my dogs medication. I had to repackage it as soon as I left the building. I would not be able to take dog there because the air fresheners would cling to my dog and make me sick. There is no benefit to having this sort of toxic product in an office. Improvement your ventilation if you are trying to control smells. The Scentsy did not cover the smell of cat spray but it did manage to give me a headache and asthma attack.
Very frustrating as everything else was top notch. If these toxic products were removed I would be very happy to be client.

We took our cat to this clinic to diagnose a problem with his mouth. Were seen by a vet with 3 years of experience and were told she suspected dental or gum disease after selling us a full lab work up which showed he was very healthy for his age. Our cat was seen twice by this same vet and examined both times. Brought him the second time after antibiotics failed to resolve the issue. Second time we were sold on a dental procedure. We were booked for this about 3 weeks down the road. The cat continued to decline and eventually stopped eating and drinking. We brought him in again this time seeing a different vet with again 3 yrs experience he seemed to know his stuff. In less than 10 mins the found a problem in the mouth that was much more serious. Appeared to be an aggressive Tumor Bottom line the first vet missed this twice dragging the process out for more than a month. With the cat not able to eat or drink by this time we were left with few options. Never take an animal here!!

I've been taking my dog there since 2007. Then my blended dog family since 2009. The vets are wonderful and caring. The staff at the front are always friendly and polite. I found their prices to be good. The hours are fantastic. They always call the next day after a visit. We've said goodbye to 1 old girl, still have an old girl and added a puppy a couple years ago. Worth the drive for me.

They have been great and very informative. I am happy that I found this clinic. I was surprised to receive a card in the mail after the passing of my beloved dog; this was so appreciated and showed that they care and especially during such a tough time.

I take my 2 dogs here and I've always got great service. The front desk staff are awesome, always friendly. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait for your appointment, but they are an emergency hospital, so it's to be expected. I recommend this clinic to all my friends.

I brought my very sick kitty to this clinic for the first time. The staff were amazing. The doctor was very compassionate when it came time to put her to sleep. They sent a condolence card to me as well. I felt their prices were fair, and the service that came along with it was wonderful. They made a bad experience bearable. I have recommended this clinic to family and friends who are all happy with them as well.

I've been going to shawnessy south pet hospitla for a number of years now and have seen well all of the veterinarians who work there. I have always recieved great care and compassion from all the staff right from the 1st visit of my new puppy till the unfortunate passing of my old girl :(. I do sometimes feel the prices a little high but when I see and hear all the work that is truly involved in what they are doing for the health and well being of my 4 legged children I have no issues with paying for it. My little dog had been limping on and off for a few days and I was concerned and wanted to do xrays, when I took her in for the appointment the doctor examining her suggested I keep her rested and offered me some pain medication for her, I'm greatful for taking the advice as she was fine the next day, that doctor saved me $200. I happily recommend Shawnessy to everyone who wants good QUALITY vet care

I brought my cocker spaniel into the Shawnessy South Pet Hospital several times for check ups, shots etc. Finally, after endless charges to my credit card, we decided to go ahead with surgery on my dogs cherry eye. The surgery went horribly, and none of the staff nor the veterinarian who operated on my dog could remember or kept track of which eye they operated on. They did not call me to see how he was doing and before the surgery was started, they asked me if I wanted to pay an additional $36.00 to make sure the anesthesia "worked" properly. What a joke! I should have walked out right then. While the clinic is clean and seems inviting, I am disgusted I ever brought my dog to that clinic. When we transferred vets, they also decided to hold off on faxing over his paperwork over to the new vet even though we asked them FIVE times. Most likely because they do not have a file for him. I would never recommend this vet to anyone!
