I've only used Dr. Bonkalo twice but both home visits were hugely important: one was to attend to my German shepherd who fell ill suddenly and was in too much pain to get to the clinic; the second time was when she came to our home to put our elderly, sick Boston terrier to sleep. In both instances, I can't imagine getting more professional, experienced, and gentle care than what she offered. Both Dr. B and her assistant, Brook, were kind and attentive and careful to the point that it made the end of our BT's life a wonderfully peaceful departure. And she had a special treat for our girl, which I won't spoil here. Anyway, I can't recommend her enough and will refer her to all my friends and family with pets.

Dr. Bonkalo is wonderful! She recently did a home visit to enable us to say goodbye to our beloved senior cat at home rather than in a clinic. She made what we expected to be an awful experience into a very gentle and peaceful one. We highly recommend her services.

I have used this wonderful vet's services for close to a decade. She is a conscientious, caring, talented doctor. I find her own fees very modest for home service. Tests cost what they cost, without insurance coverage, and she has an excellent diagnostic team at her disposal for ultrasound or labwork. Can't say how highly I regard this lady and her wonderful team. She is amazing at making things happen when you need them, and I've always found her manner provides confidence and assurance to her clients and their owners.

Dr. Bonkalo came to our home when our cat was worsening rapidly from cancer and it was time to let him go. Our cat was very scared of the vet's office, so her home visit service (same day) was very important to us. It was our first time meeting her, she was empathetic and kind, the right balance of positive energy and understanding of our pain. She explained the procedure every step of the way, and did everything she could to ensure that he passed as peacefully as possible. Thank you for being professional and caring.

Dr. Bonkalo is by far the finest veterinarian my wife and I have ever had. She has treated many cats for us, and displayed not only superb diagnostic and treatment skills, but also great empathy and compassion, especially with end-of-life procedures. In addition, the fact that she makes house calls has been an important aspect of her services, enabling much less stressful treatment of fragile or old cats who would have been put at risk by a trip to a veterinary office. Her care is worth ever penny!

Dr Bonkalo is an excellent vet. She is very knowledgeable and up to date on current treatments and does not recommend unnecessary tests. She is extremely compassionate as well. Dr Bonkalo is the vet I turned to when a couple of other ones let me down. She came and put my beloved cat to sleep and he did not suffer at all when she did so. This gave me tremendous peace of mind... Thank you Dr. Bonkalo!

Dr. Bonkalo came to Small Wonders, our pet supply shop to help our old store cat Charlotte to Rainbow Bridge at 21 years old. She was compassionate, caring and kind. Charlotte was comfortable and experienced no stress. Dr. Bonkalo and her assistant Brook were kind to our staff, some of whom had not witnessed the passing of a pet before. All in all, she helped to make such a sad occasion for us all the more tolerable. Highly recommended.

Dr Bonkalo came to our house at 7:30 at night to put our beloved Kätzel to sleep . As she told me over the phone , we needed to do this very difficult step. She was absolutly right with her diagnosis , even though she had not seen our cat before. She and her assistant were so caring and wonderful . Our cat was in her own environment on her favorite bed and it gave us peace to see her go to sleep like this. I would highly recommend Dr Bankalo .She explained every step and did not rush us at all even though it was getting late. What a wonderful and caring team

I want to add my comments to the many positive responses Dr. Bonkalo has received. I originally contacted her because I had a terminally ill dog and I wanted to make sure her final days would be as comfortable as possible. I had heard very positive remarks about her and Dr. Bonkalo delivered in every way, and then some. She was compassionate, caring and sensitive to the importance this pet played in our family. It was handled in such a senstive manner that it prompted a family member to say that she hoped she would be treated with the same kindness when her time came. That was six years ago and we have been clients of hers since then. We have two dogs who actually greet her at the door when she arrives, a far cry from the response my other dog experienced when we walked into the office. We are grateful to her for the care she provides.

I love my vet, Dr. Judith Bonkalo. She has been our vet for about 15 years and taken wonderful care of my two cats and three Samoyed dogs. She is sensitive, compassionate, professional, up-to-date, and always concerned for my (limited) pocketbook. She doesn't order unnecessary tests. She considers alternative treatments. She explains why she is doing what she is doing. And she has often gone above and beyond reasonable expectations, calling with test results late at night or during the weekend to allay my fears or make a decision about next steps. Veterinary care, like human medical care, is expensive. Fortunately, I have some pet insurance which helps defray some expenses. Sadly, we have had to euthanize two pets together. One just ten days ago. I will forever be grateful for Dr. Bonkalo's skill and compassion. She gave me as much time as I needed both before and after the procedure. My beloved dog experienced not a scintilla of fear or discomfort because of the sedation given.

Dr. Bonkalo helped my dog so much. My 12 yr old Lab could barely stand up and now thanks to Dr. Bonkalo he acts like a puppy again and played fetch today. Her services are bit pricey but worth every dime. Thank you!

We are so pleased that we found Dr. Bankalo. She is great with our Cat and his special needs. For in home visits her prices are fair and she cares a great deal about our cat's comfort and well-being. Thanks Dr. B!

Our often sick cat had so many procedures over the years that he was too traumatized to go to a vet's office anymore. Dr. Bonkalo was actually recommended by our clinic vet and was wonderful and compassionate with our old, sick pet. I particularly appreciated it when it was time to have our cat put down, he was able to be put down at home, unafraid, and by someone with a great bedside manner. I have recommended her to others and would do so again.

Dr. Bonkalo is compassionate, thorough, easy to talk to and cares about the animals in her care. She has been our cats' vet for 7-8 years and has a holistic approach to treatment, which we appreciate. Whoever thinks she is "all about the $$" is wrong.

Dr. Bonkala came to our home to help our dog along. Our regular vet was out of town and I was concerned having never met Dr. Bonkalo before. She was thoughtful, compassionate and very professional. No, it was not inexpensive but worth every penny to have our dog and our hearts at such a difficult time in such competent and caring hands.

One of the most compassionate pet lovers in Toronto. Home visits to care for your pet. She has cared for our labs for 17 years. If you want a vet who feels your pet is a member of the family, Judy is the best choice. She is extremely good a diagnosis, referring to specialist if warranted and follow up with any care required. A+

Does in home euthanasia. DON'T use her! guess if u aren't broke, she'll be fine w/ you, but she's a completely compassionless in-it-4-the-$$$ companion killer. She charges a fortune, & is more concerned w/the time she charges u, than w/ the pain & grief you're going through. Awful awful "human". Now, of course if u have $$$ to afford her over priced killing of your friend, then I'm sure she'll be fine w/ u. Because after all, it's the $$$ she's most concerned about; She'll make it sound like she cares about the animal, by saying, 'oh I'd never do it w/out sedation 1st, I "refuse" 2 put the animal through that trauma". But so what? Most COMPASSIONATE vets will do that; they don't need to PROVE & over emphasize that they do that B4 the barbiturate O.D.. & then rattle off the hours she'd have 2 charge u becuz of this or that. I'd never have allowed her in2 my home 2 end the life of some1 who loved me unconditionally 4 close to 20 yrs. & glad I didn't. Horrid horrid woman. Just horrid.
