They killed my dog. I took my 9 year old Australian Shepherd to see Dr. Catherine Daley in internal medicine after being referred by my vet for breathing problems. We agreed on a CT scan, rhinoscopy, and potentially a biopsy if she found suspicious lesions in his nasal passages. She did the scope, there were irritated areas, but she was pretty certain it was rhinitis and no cancer was present. She continued with the biopsies anyway. When my dog was waking up in recovery the spots that she biopsied began to bleed again. They put him back under, his heart stopped and they were unable to get him back. The biopsies later confirmed no cancer. I think that they overdosed him on propofol. They did not offer an autopsy and we were too shocked/upset to think about it. I believe she only did the biopsy to increase our vet bill as it requires an overnight stay. We were not allowed access to our dog's chart or her notes - it took several weeks to get the full picture of what happened.

My cat was very sick late on a Saturday, and MVES was the facility recommended by my regular vet. I was taken aback initially at the prices for the services, but I couldn't bear to not do the surgery that she needed. Dr. Ballard did an excellent job diagnosing her condition, which was both pretty rare for a cat and also hadn't been diagnosed by our vet. Dr. Neat did an excellent job with the surgery, and especially with keeping me informed about her condition and what he was doing to help her. They also did (I feel) an excellent job controlling the cost of her care as much as possible. Excellent facility and doctors. Despite the higher cost than our normal vet, which can be easily explained by their 24/7 availability and their specialties, I highly recommend MVES. They were available when I needed them and there is no question that they saved my cat's life.

In response to an earlier comment about preying on people who will do anything: I know for a fact that these doctors review any potentially poor outcomes as a result of treatment or surgery. They do the best they can and if your pet was so critical it was probably a situation where it's "damned if you do, damned if you don't." Your pet was in poor health and you took them there to do something...they did their best. As a technician from the Louisiville area, having worked at a very large specialty/critical facility we do the very best we can. But no, the outcome isn't always what we hope for or anticipate.

I found this group to be caring, efficient and effective, although they are very expensive. My dog had extensive emergency surgery, and required a three-day post-operative stay in their intensive care unit. She is still recovering at home, but appears to be doing well. The staff (the vets and vet techs) were caring and thorough in explaining the issues, the care choices and the prognosis. I did feel they worked very hard to ensure my dog had the best chance of surviving this crisis. Plus, my regular vet recommended them highly, although he warned me they would be expensive...and he was correct.
