This March our dog ingested something during the walk and had a very severe reaction. He went from being very alert and playful to very sick and very much in pain within minutes. We became very worried as we weren't sure what had happened. We rushed to the Central emergency, The Vet on duty did his exam and gave us possible scenarios and options. His calmness and detailed explanation helped alleviate some of our anxiety and allowed us to make the best decision.
Pets are a part of the family and when they become ill, owners are often vulnerable.
The knowledge, experience and Honesty of your vet is paramount in all cases, especially in emergencies.
The love and care that we and our dog received from the experienced staff and Vet at the Central animal emergency clinic was great and I would therefore highly recommend this hospital.

This is hands down the worst vet I have ever been to. My dog was urinating blood a day after his neutering and being 9pm on Christmas eve., our regular vet was closed for the next few days so we decided to take him into the emergency clinic. After a number of tests we were told his immune system was attacking his redblood cells and that he needed a transfusion, in fact, it was possible he would need a number of transfusions. We were devastated, but something didn't sit right with me when I was asked if I had pet insurance prior to the results. I declined the transfusions as my dog seemed perfectly healthy otherwise. I was then told that we should do a course of drugs that could help him to which I declined. "He won't live without these drugs". I paid the already outrageous fees for the "diagnosis" and left. My dog never got worse, and we eventually made it to our vet where it was found to be a urinary tract infection. Please never take your beloved pets to these useless people

this is by far the worst vet i have ever been to staff is rude, brought my cat in with a bad abscess, cost is ridiculous cat was getting sick from the antibiotics had to bring her in again and without asking gave her a gravol shot which got her more sick told the RUDE staff and told them we could not spend any more money due to spending an arm and a leg for horrible service cat did not even wanna go back there so not sure how they treat the animals after telling the RUDE staff about not being able to spend any more money they told us if we cant afford her we could always take her to the SPCA but they would take our cat away from us not impressed with that we love our cat and would do anything for her.. they need some kinder staff because they are not going to last for long we already feel like poo when we take our animals in and have to spend hundreds of dollars and not only that have to deal with their unkind rude staff..

I took my baby here when he started having breathing problems at 1045 pm. The staff were very thorough, promising to only do xrays if necessary. He turned out to have severe anemia and heart disease. They called me with updates and kept him alive long enough for me to rush in and say goodbye in the morning. They even sent a sympathy card. I know they did their best and appreciate that they tried so hard to save him.

Thank god, this was a savior. My dog was in a fight at park in coquitlam who was bleeding loke hell. Took him to central emergency, it was a great experience. Front staff took my dog in right away, all treatment was done and I was so happy. Even cost was bit high but it was all worth it. I gladly recommend this clinic to everyone who is inneed at odd hours. Thanks central. Keep up the good work.. julia

My bf & I went to this "Emergency vet clinic" at 1230 am when our cat pulled out her stitches from having been spayed a few days earlier. The "consultation" took maybe 2 minutes, they decided to glue up her skin rather than re-stitching it back together and put a cone on her, then tried to charge us $200 which is absolutely ridiculous! They then told us the consultation fee itself was $120 which they never mentioned before. The doctors/assistants seemed like they had no idea what they were doing, don't bother visiting this clinic.

Took our cat there as she fell. She had broken bones, and needed surgery. The final bill came to $4700.00 which is absolutely ludicrous. Nobody should have to pay this. Do not go there, use other better options as these people are only OUT for money.

I took my cat here after she was bit by a stray. They only needed to close a wound and put in a drain. Instead they clipped her nails made incisions and left no drain for her wounds! Then they wrapped her entire leg (bent uncomfortably). The stitching was soo poor her leg will be uncomfortable for the rest of her life. They didnt even exam her fully - my vet found an eye wound needing desperate attention. And the vet gave her NO pain meds after he said it was extremely painful! And they tried to give me antibiotics that my cat cant have. This place is full of uneducated morons!!

Very pleasant front staff, but the vets themselves appear not to really care much about the animals they are treating. At least they certainly come across that way. Based on the diagnosis I was given for my cat and the amount of money I spent on emergency care, I easily could have diagnosed my cat using the Internet. I had read the rating prior, but elected to go anyway, which was a mistake. It's pretty sad when the vet puts in next to no effort to figure out what is wrong with your pet and charges you an arm and a leg for what amounts to pretty much a useless diagnosis and prescriptions. I highly recommend that if you are in need of any emergency care that you do not make the mistake of taking your pet to this clinic. Drive farther...it's worth it. These chaps are clearly here to pay for their luxury vehicles parked outside.

I brought my 6 year old male cat to this clinic with a urinary blockage and he was in a bad way. It was soon discovered to be a bladder disease. the next morning my cat was transferred to a different vet clinic for day care as Central ER clinic is closed during the day. Long story short, my cat was catheterized and very ill and the care he received at this day care clinic (not affiliated with Central Animal ER) was atrocious and my cat took a turn for the worse by ripping out his own catheter and re-blocking after being neglected. This terrible vet clinic near Metrotown discharged my cat to me even tho my cat was re-blocked but the doctor wasn't aware because my cat was not thoroughly checked before being discharged. I rushed my cat back to Central Animal ER and they had to redo the catheter procedure to flush his bladder and so forth and literally save him from imminent death. My cat had about 3 days after care with Central Animal ER and has made a fast and full recovery! Excellent!

Over the weekend I took my lovely dog for emergency services as dog was not responsive and going downhill. I did took the dog to a daytime clinic who just gave the dog a shot of something to take a pain away. I never agreed that dog is in pain. My gut feeling was that there is something more to it. At first sight it seems like I am at right place at this emergency hospital as staff and doctor was so helpful . Right on exam doctor made an rough guess that dog was bleeding internally possible rumour and did brief testing and confirmed the bleeding. Emergency surgery was done and they did blood transfer. My dog is alive because of central emerge care. I know it was expensive buy hey, I gave my dog happy. Thanks all staff is exceptionally good and communication is great . Thanks again

My cat came back with some dirty paws. I don't know what it looks like in the back, but I don't think it speaks much for cleanliness. They also didn't bother to wipe her dried blood up stuck to her fur near one of the sites where they shaved her. My cat had vomited a couple times, and had a stuffed up nose. Upon examination, I was told she was dehydrated and had a bit of a temperature. Apparently that's enough for an overnight stay. I can't help but feel that they are trying to get every penny possible. It was $132 to just get in the same room as the vet for 5 minutes. $200 for blood tests? Were they even necessary? I'm out over $700. Don't get me wrong, I'd pay anything for my darling's health, but it seems outlandish. I will not be coming here again - I only came because it was the only place open nearby.

He showed me an estimate which I signed without hesitation. I wanted the best treatment for her which I got. I am amazed at people whinning about money when it comes to their pet. Thank you staff and doctors

I brought in my cat who was attacked by a coyote. She was near death!! The staff and doctors not only took care of my cat they made sure that I was ok as well. I noticed that most of the comments on this post are about money!! Clinics are businesses not charity facilities!! You have to pay for their services.I went in at 1230am and I was helped immediatly!! If you dont want to pay for your animals then you should get some insurance! My cats surgery cost $2700 and I didnt even flinch because I have Pet insurance. If your pet needs help you should go to this clinic!! they are open every night even on Sundays!

i took my cat here last night because she kept vomiting. i, as well, was not given a diagnostic (just told it could be from possible poisoning), and was told xrays, blood work, injections, and an over night stay were best. the estimate they presented me with came to just under $1200. i could not afford this so, just in case, agreed to have them put fluids under skin (in case of dehydration). my cat is a bit better today: still vomiting a bit, but has eaten a bit and is more playful. im not sure whether or not they helped hert, but if it wasnt for my tears (my cat is my baby!) and my refusal to buy $1200, they would have sucked every penny that they could have out of me. i would avoid going here because after reading the other reviews from 2012, its obvious that money is their priority.

Brought dog in after being hit by a car, this was closest ER & after regular vet hours. Dr checked him out, said he looked stable & said they would take xrays & blood work. Dr reviewed xrays & said all looked good, no breaks or fractures, but they should keep him over night. We had to pick him up the next morning at 7am as they close at 8am. Paid almost $1200 & were told to take him to a vet, as he was in no condition to go home. He suggested one near our home, which we went to. A few hours later we were advised the 2nd vet closes at 6pm & we would have to move him again, as he needed more care. In the condition our dog was in, the Dr in Coquitlam should have advised us of this & suggested a 24hr ER. We moved to the 3rd hospital. Found out our dog had a fractured rib & due to that a damaged lung, Dr in Coquitlam couldn't read this on the xrays! Coquitlam called, asked why we didn't bring him back there, I said they close everyday at 8am & my dog needed to be somewhere stabilized.

Took my dog there last night with diarrhea and rumbling stomach noise. After about 2 minutes consultation I was given no diagnostic but a recommendation for overnight care, full blood work, x-ray and a cocktail of 12 antibiotics plus IV to hydrate her. As I'm not ready to take that much medication myself I asked questions and was explained what condition each antibiotic is going to address. Then I asked why doing full blood work is we're going to pump all that medication in the dog anyways. Blank stare. Total cost comes up to just below $1200. I left after I paid $134 for the emergency consultation that provided me with no diagnostic nor any value. I hope they get their act together really fast but until then I suggest you avoid going there. My dog is well now, recovered with no medication at all. She's been through a rough night and that could have been avoided...

I will never ever, ever bring my 4 year old Golden Retriever here ever again! Not only did they not find the reason for his constant vomiting, they also had the audacity to then charge me $992.00 freaking dollars!! The next day we called the clinic to advise that our dog was still vomiting. They instructed me to return to the clinic, and that they would give him a couple of injections. Once at the clinic a nice lady, I believe her name was Lisa stated that we would only be charged for the injections, and that they would cover the second set of x-rays. An East Indian Doctor came into the waiting room and advised me that they would monitor my dog, and to return in 4 hours. After waiting the alloted time, my girlfriend and I returned to the clinic to pick up our dog. Low and behold we were charged $136.00 which included a partial charge of $55.00 for kenneling my dog for 4 freaking hours!!! We will be calling tomorrow in an attempt to recoup our $55 bucks. If you have lots of money go her

I brought a pure bred Abyssinian kitty to the clinic - she had clots in her ears. We visited the vet prior but it was saturday = he said to go to emergency if the problem does not get better. So in the middle of the night I bring in the kitty - they take her away, I hear terrible scream of cat in the office, and they took a blood test. Next day they call me and tell me she was poisoned. Well, not really as she is not the only cat and she could not be possibly poisoned with symptoms like that, so I ask what is with this blood test we did - they say the blood test showed poison. I call my vet which got a copy and blood test clearly states - the sample was clotted so they could not tell anything hence they ask to take the test again. nothing about poison! NOTHING. they simply called me and told me my cat was poisoned when blood test they took was not even worth shipping to the lab (I mean, normal person knows clotted blood is no good for tests, right?)they will never get my business again

A year ago my cat got a nasty bite on his tail and I had to take him to emergency. Staff was rude, doctor was rude! They threw some pills at me and wrapped my cats tail and sent me home. Huge bill! The next day I called to ask a question. My cat was acting strange and his tail seemed to be bothering him more. They assured me the bandage needed to stay on for a few days and then I could go to my reg. vet for a recheck. I went to my regular vet for the recheck a couple days early. Emergency had wrapped my poor cats tail so tightly it lost circulation and the tip at to be amputated.

This doctor killed my friends dog after surgery because they sent him home too soon and didn't transfer him to his regular veterinarian. His regular vet tried very hard to save his life but sadly the emerg dr made such a mess of his surgery he had to be put down. They tell you they have to have a "specialist" read xrays. Isnt a vet supposed to be able to read xrays? They feed on the fear and way overcharge for the service. Stay away. The emerg clinic in Langley is so awesome.

The doctor & staff that handled the passing of my baby Simba cat were exceptional. Very compassionate & gentle with me, as I was a blubbering mess. They allowed me to spend as much time as I wished saying 'goodbye' to him. After trying to save him, with no luck, they wrapped him very nicely in a towel and laid him on the table so I could visit with him & say my goodbyes, in a room by ourselves. It was an extremely hard time for me, excellent staff & I'm very grateful to them.

The staff at this clinic were very helpful and when I called in prior to bringing my cat informed me of the best way to transport her. My cat had to have a partial tail amputation as part of her tail was ripped off in the door. The nurses and doctors answered all of our questions on how the cat would react and what kind of attention was required. The staff were also great for the follow up visits.

I recently had my little Poodle Joey attacked by a Pit bull dog at the Mundy park my little guy was covered in blood and air was coming out of the chest Fortunately my vet who was closed advised me to rush to Central animal emergency clinic Coquitlam. They wasted no time and placed Joey in Oxygen and took , X rays and placed an intravenous catheter.I am in health field and i quickly realized that it is really stressful when something happen to your own loved ones.Joey got an emergency surgery of his open chest wounds that night and made a complete recovery since then. I am really impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the quality of medicine they practice. I will recommend this clinic to all my pet loving friends.

I have taken both my dogs to this Emergency Clinic. Thank goodness for the dedicated doctors and staff who work evenings, weekends and throughout the night. The doctors are excellent and know what to do in an emergency situation to save your dog's (or cat's)life. The staff are wonderful - very helpful, compassionate and caring. I had excellent service and my dogs received the best care. They follow up the next day to check on your pet. They have all up to date equipment including digital X-rays, they do in-house blood tests and are prepared to do any type of emergency surgery to save the life of your animal. There is an emergency fee of $60.00 as well as the usual exam fee, but well worth it to have a doctor available in the middle of the night should your animal become serious sick or injured. They give you an estimate and tell you what they feel the best treatment for your animal's recovery will be before the work is performed. I would highly recommend this emergency clinic.

I called this vet late one night right before xmas scared that my dog had bloat. I didn't want to risk not talking to someone so I called and highlighted her symptoms and asked what they thought. Of course I had to come in... why they couldn't give me a few things to watch for is beyond me! By the time I got to the clinic my dog wasn't showing as many signs but I wanted to be sure so I brought her in and asked what they thought - instead of turning me away and saying "she's fine" they put her into a room and the vet felt around. After post incident research he should have known it wasn't bloat simply from timeline since her last meal. Instead they took not one-but TWO xrays ($$) and charged me just over $400 for the pointless visit. As I was paying the bill and leaving they had the nerve to try to up sell me vet insurance saying bloat surgery would have cost me 6g. Way to use scare tactics guys! The apt was 10 mins, the vet was a scam artist and the staff were dumb. Don't go here!
