My daughter and I have been clients of Parkway and Dr. Thomas Bankstahl since he practiced veterinary medicine on Harper in St. Clair Shores. His practice has since become very impersonal and profit driven. A kitten died that may have been saved if the reception staff and Dr. Katherine Engel had shown some consideration and been more responsive. We had a scheduled appointment for one cat and brought in two and half week old rescue kittens for examination as well. We explained that one of kittens was in distress and the other two appeared to be stable. The two reception staff members pointed out there was only one appointment available and they could only see one kitten. They both spoke to us in very derogetory manner because we had not called ahead time about the kittens we had just rescued the night before. The vet saw our cat who had the scheduled appointment. She then gave us a very long lecture on scheduling appointments prior to the days visit, was very condescending, curt a

they dont have compansion for your animals and will not HELP you but will take advantage of you knowing you will do anything for the love of your pet. If you don't have the funds thy wnt evn offer a discount & tell you OH well!they should be responsible for what they say to you & they should TELL THE TRUTH!

Our Chinchilla was drooling and refusing to eat, which can become rapidly fatal in a chin. This vet was able to see us immediately and diagnosed a dental problem sending us home with some pain medication and a return the next day for surgery to grind down teeth. We returned in the morning to leave the chinchilla for the day to undergo procedure-vet came out to meet us and answer questions. So far so good. We called to speak to vet after procedure and although successful, received a poor prognosis requiring repeat of the procedure every month-it costs about $200 each time! My daughter cried the entire ride home with her pet and when arriving home, we discovered the dummies had fed the chin lettuce leaves and fresh banana slices...things a chinchilla should NEVER be fed! This guaranteed we would NEVER RETURN there and since have discovered a wonderful vet in Birmingham who diagnosed our chin not with a dental problem, but with bloat and after PROPER treatment he is happy and healthy!

I took my STO there for hair loss...they couldn't help me with that...took my Bearded dragon there with an impaction. The vet told me it was a female and had eggs. I have 2 male dragons and this one did not have eggs. I got the impaction to pass myself. Will never take an animal back there. Cost way too much for them to tell me something that is no way possible.

If you have a bird this is where I would tell you to go. Sometimes you wait, but it is because the Doctors are answering any and all questions one might have and yes that rolls down hill in wait time, but when it is your turn it is well worth the wait. Yes a bit pricey, but I would trust no other for my birds care!!

I take my birds there, I like the quality of care they get. I think they are a bit pricey, but I believe it is worth it.

Dr. Periat is beyond fantastic! She took great care of my bird. She even went as far as to by him his favorite foods at the grocery store when we had to hospitalize him over the weekend. Even called me every few hours to let me know how he was doing. Facilities are very clean, and the rest of the staff is just as friendly as Dr. Periat is. It is a bit on teh pricey side, but I still drive the hour and a half to take my bird to see her.

Took my kitten there to be spayed. they did not notice she had fluid in her lungs and spayed her anyway. She crashed after I brought her home and I rushed her back. She died and they wabted to charge me over a 1000.00. I took her to another vet for a necropsy and thats when I found out about the fliud and over anethisia. I heard alot of cats that year died due to there error.

I took my dog there with a urinarary problem to be catherized. He couldn't pee. They kept him in a cage all day without doing this procedure. When they did it in the late afternoon and I picked him up, I asked how long I should wait if he didn't pee again. THEY SAID TWO DAYS. Treatment was also wrong for cancer of the prostate and we had to have the dog put down. Would never go to again or recommend.

We ADORE this practice, especially Dr. Periat. If you are looking for top-of-the-line care for your herps or other exotics, you can't go wrong here. They are pricey, IMHO, but otherwise WONDERFUL.

GREAT medical care; best exotics clinic in Michigan. GREAT receptionists. Other than Dr. Bankstahl and Dr. Periat, the doctors could be more personable.
