I've been going to the St. Francis Pet hospital for almost 4 year now. Dr. Navkaran Bal has provided excellent advice and different options for treatment plans. He has always provided costs upfront with no surprises after treatments. Comparing his fees with a family member who takes their dog to a vet in St. Albert St. Francis Pet Hospital was cheaper for the same services. Also they are very accommodating and are able to schedule an appointment or refill prescriptions that day or next business day if requested.

I would like to inform those who are directed here because it is the only online review for vet Dr. Carol Nyereyegona that she has moved her service to Lowell, MA to Vet Pet Check @ 138 Highland Ave. I was one of her victims at the Lowell, MA location. Stay away from this vet. I put 5 star ratings since I did not want my comment to hurt this pet hospital, St. Francis, but I have no experience with their care.

Dr. Carol is an awesome vet she is very compassionate to my animals, the prices are about average and are well worth it, she is very thorough in her exam and always explains everything, if i have any questions i know i can always call and ask either the office manager Chantelle or the head tech Ashley who are both very knowledgeable and friendly, it is really nice that they will follow up after an appointment to make sure that my pets are doing well even after routine vaccines they obviously care very much about my pets and clearly LOVE there jobs! DEFINITELY SEE DR. CAROL FOR ANY VET SERVICES!

This clinic was the only place that would take our dog when she was whelping. We tried 5 other places and it took two days until we found this place becasue we had no money. When we got there none of the puppies were breathing but they saved all of them. They all stayed late and did not charge us extra fees. One doctor called us late at night to check on the puppies. We were allowed to make a payment plan and we are paying once a month. The puppies are six weeks old and they are HUGE. For sure they would not have survived without this place.

I took my dog here when he was having heart and breathing issues. The doctor came into the room, listened to his heartbeat and proceeded to tell me her diagnosis of congestive heart disease and how much it would cost. She left the room and came back with a quote of $900, and started to pressure me to start all the tests right away without explaining anything to me at all. They took my dog away from me to the back room and proceeded to draw blood without my permission and without me even knowing what was going on.I have never been to a vet who was so money-driven and lacking in compassion. Her only concern was how much money she could get from me. I did wind up having to put my baby down, but at my regular vet, they explained every single thing to me and did not ONCE mention cost. They also told me that all the medications and tests were not even necessary as his condition was too far gone to allow for any sort of quality of life. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DON'T TAKE THEM HERE!

We have been going to this clinic for over 3 years. In that time, Dr. Carol has never been rude to me, not even at times that I have refused treatment. However, Chantelle (head tech) was abrupt and often rude at times, especially on the phone. She seems to have turned her attitude around though, and is a lot more pleasant and friendly. Over time we have become more suspicious of the integrity of this clinic. It seems, like other posters have commented, that things get added on throughout the treatment, and the bill adds up quickly. Dr. Carol also seems to lack confidence in her diagnosis. One appointment should generally take care of everything. We are asked to come back for multiple visits every time we come in. If your business is failing it's more reason to treat the ones you have left, good, so they can write positive reviews and people can see that things are changing for the better. I used to love this clinic, unfortunately we can no longer justify staying.

The head "Veterinary technician" that works here does not have her diploma or VTNE exam. Which means that she should NOT be doing any injections (this includes vaccines). The Veterinarian Dr. Carol does not pay her bills to Idexx and is sometimes turned away from receiving samples from her clinic. She uses expired antibiotics in surgery to flush open incisions. She uses non-dissolvable suture material and is not good and suturing! She charges a great deal for dental proceedures, and does not even place a ET tube in most of the animals, only gives them a general sedative. Then cleans the teeth with a hand scaler and no antibiotics leading up to the procedure. She then has her "tech" shine a blue light on the teeth to see if there is plaque left over. She charges people for things that should not be charged. And she also suggests meaningless testing. Dr.Carol is a HORRIBLE vet.....

I have been a pet owner for 36 years and I have always taken my pets for their regular check ups at their vet. Dr. Carol has looked after my two cats since they were born 7 years ago. She saved the life of one of my cats, who was born with a severe bacterial infection in her intestines that prevented nutrient absorption. Dr. Carol also greatly lengthened and improved the life of my other cat when she recognized an issue with her molars, and referred me to an extraordinary veterinary dentist. We discovered her molars were fractured at the root. She is much healthier, happier kitty since this issue was treated. Dr. Carol has a big heart. Always with the utmost concern for my furry family members. She or her staff always call as a follow up to our visit to ensure our kitties are doing well. Her fee has always been on par and sometimes less expensive than other vets. Dr. Carol is very kind and her staff are warm and pleasant to interact with. If only she were closer in West Edmonton!

I took my cat, Effie, to this clinic, and I will never ever return. They grossly overcharged for routine procedures; taking advantage of a first time cat owner is as despicable as it is unforgivable. The staff at this location wouldn't even apply the discount that was promised for the extraordinarily long wait that I had to endure, surrounded by understandably upset animals and fellow customers. I will never return to this location, and I encourage every cat owner to give your business to the Glenora Cat Clinic, which is where I will be doing all of my future business.

Dr.Caroline Nyereyegona is the owner operator of St.Francis Pet Hospital of Edmonton and for reasons unknown when we asked for her full name her staff refused to give it to us would only say her name was Dr.Carol.We had taken our cat and kitten to this clinic and had a horrible experience. The vet is very rude and gets mad when we refused treatment that we know our pet didn't need. She even lied about us not paying our bill, which we have proof of.photo copyied it right off this site.If you love your pets run away from this vet clinic as fast as you can.

This vet has low ratings and for valid reasons! All she cares about is money! You will not get a clear diagnosis and you will pay far more than you were told to expect. I took my pet there and we had a very bad experince. They take advantage of you and your pet. I will be looking for a new vet.

My fiancé and I just got a kitten whom we thought was over his respiratory infection, as it turns out, he was not. Our One year old cat all of a sudden had her left eye closed so we brought her to st France's vet. We waited in the waiting room for over 45 min. Finally when we got in, the doc took a look at her and said she would like to see the kitten as well. The kitten was waiting in the car. We brought him in and she looked at him. She then gave both our cats shots " for pain" which was clearly unless art and when we got the bill , it was over 360$. She did not say that she was charging 57$ for the second kitten and charged 70$ for both pain meds. She never asked permission. Anyhow we went for a follow up few days later and was going to grab a pill from the back and give it to our cat. She got extremely defensive when my fiancé said that we were NOT paying for anymore meds. She said that we were being rude and hurried us on her way. We still haven't got the call that the other antib

St. Francis Pet Hospital thanks you for the comments posted 11/13 2012. We provided you with an actual diagnosis prior to taking the x-ray,since another procedure was about to be performed. There are two options available in this diagnosis - the best option is an ultrasound - which was declined - and a second good option is an x-ray. Our computerized digital x-ray suite contains the x-ray machine, an anaesthetic machine and all the safety equipment we require. Since pets are ususally not able to lie still for an x-ray they should be mildly sedated to avoid any x-ray exposure for the staff. The client avoids sedation costs if we wear good protection and usually the client will help to place the pet on the table because the patient feels far more comfortable on the table. Once the pet is on the table we usually ask the client to help us lie the patient down in position for the x-ray. This works very well and the pet is calm. The client moves to a safe area and we take the x-ray.

The building looks as if it's about to fall down. Receptionist/tech was pleasant. The vet was cold and remote and didn't listen to me or make an effort to grasp my circumstances (puppy from a rescue group, coming in for pre-contracted neutering - how hard is that?). I found the pre-neutering bloodwork and x-ray an unnecessary money-grab; the x-ray room was tiny and cluttered - full of boxes; the clinic itself wasn't very clean; and the vet couldn't answer my questions. I decided against having my dog neutered here - the last straw was when they changed the time for his check-in and wanted me to come and help sedate him. No, thanks.

Absolutly terrible 118th ave at its finest. DO NOT BRING AN ANIMAL YOU CARE FOR HERE. Dr.Carol should have never been given a lisence! I brought my dog in for a growth on his ear and she said she didnt know what it was. And to bring him back in six weeks to recheck. cost me 150.00 for the appointment and no answers. I waited about a week and the lump doubled in size so i brought my dog for a second opinion at another vet and right away! he knew what it was an infected gland in his ear that needed to be removed now. He has a chunk out of the corner of his ear which could have been half the size had this vet known what she was doing. Dr Carol was short breif and rude the staff was also terrible this place needs to be shut down

Although the vet seems to know her stuff, she is very short and has zero people skills. Almost every visit turns into a miscommunication of some sort and ends with Dr. Carol being very unpleasant. Clients pay your bills, so I would really suggest treating them with a little more respect!

This place is horrible, the owner/vet is crude/stern and her staff act scared of her. There is no professionalism,no ownership of responsibility.I have read the other posts and there is definitely consistency with their experiences and mine.I was told how much to expect to pay and I asked twice as I had to run the amount by someone else to give me the ok. When I came back later it was double the price and nothing was discussed with me,in fact when I asked the breakdown of the fee the owner/vet was appauled I even asked. I told her this is not what was told to me when I called-she said to take it up with that person/manager. I asked who is the owner-she said herself, I said then why would I talk to the receptionist?! She was SO RUDE-i told her so, she in turn said I was rude and as I was explaining-she walked away from me.I said now surely that is rude isnt it? In the end I told her I will be contacting the BBB, she huffed n puffed told me to leave and doesnt want my $$ or business-i did

I will never take another animal to this clinic. Initial visit to look at dogs ears and lump on ankle. Tests done indicated a fatty tumor. Removal surgery would be $1100.00. Contacted other vets as I thought this was a bit high. When I talked to St. Francis I was told that the $1100.00 included pre-op blood work and post op medication. Decided to bring dog to clinic for surgery. Pre-op blood work was to be done day before surgery. Was advised a week ago the blood work must be pre-paid; that it was $80.00 and that the $80.00 would be deducted from the surgery costs. When we arrived at the clinic was told surgery was $1300.00 and did not include pre-op or post-op costs. Blood work was now $150.00, post-op exam of tumor was $200.00 and they recommended hip xrays while dog was under. Clinic denied every saying pre-op & post-op costs included. Clearly they only care about the money, not the animals.

Did urine and blood work first and decided my dog had a thyroid problem. She was put on medication which then caused her to have incredible thirst and lose a lot of weight. We tracked drinking and reported it and they never bothered to call back with results. However, requested for more tests to be done, upon which nothing was discovered and they never called back. Asked for a down payment on a tooth surgery and cancelled it because they wanted to do further testing. NOTHING was ever figured out but they rebooked the surgery and want it to be done even though she is still not better. Will not refund the money unless we go through the surgery. Absolutely ridiculous veterinary clinic with seemingly no responsibility towards their patients and total lack of concern for the health of animals. Appears to be totally driven by monetary gain. Totally unacceptable and would highly encourage everyone to avoid this business and their malpractices.

When my dog ate something they were very helpful even though I didn't halve much money they were caring and followed up on his progress but I agree that communication isn't really good , my last visit I didn't know he had a ear infection until I was at the till and they gave medicine as I was about to leave. And on a check up he was a Little over weight and I got talked into paying too have his thyroid checked for 130. So I agree with unnessacery tests. But I'm a first time dog owner so I didn't think about it right away and paid for it instead of the teeth cleaning that we had schedualked

There is something really wrong with this veterinarian clinic its like going to a pawn store they ask for collateral. This clinic over charges and try's to give unnecessary treatment. We were there for a free Vet check that you get when you adopt a pet from EHS.Free went from $10.00 to almost $200.00 in 10 minutes for treatment our kitten didn't need. This vet thinks low income people like us shouldn't have pets.Just because we wanted to be responsible and wait till we would get paid to bring our kitten back to the clinic if she needed any treatment. We said we would have to wait Dr.Caroline Nyereyegona got mad and walk out on us.This vet clinic should be reported to the Veterinarian Ethics Committee. As for the pryer Blogger maybe you shouldn't have clinic or even better think about why you became a VET in the first place to look after the little people with FUR and there humans its not all about money is it??

The first time I brought my dog here, everything seemed great and the prices were good. I went back to have a lump checked on my dog and they made me run blood tests which were not for the lump, they told me they needed to do them because of his age (7 years old). Then she told me my dog needs dental work (quoted at $700) and she wants to remove his back teeth. I am not blind and I can see he needs a cleaning but there is no need to remove any teeth. Then they gave him his booster shots which were not due for another 5 months! By the time I left I had paid $500 and the issue I had went for was not even touched. She put him on antibiotics to see if it would remove the lump? I had a follow up appointment a month later, the lump is bigger and they are telling me they want $450 to remove it. They also said they wanted to re test his blood for another $200! Not much changes in a month. These people seem like they are only on the business for the money and I will never go back.

I moved to the area and when I called they seemed very nice on the phone. I booked my dog in for a visit to get updated shots and nails clipped. I was quoted approx 153.00. During the appointent they wanted to do blood work and dental work on my dog (he is very healthy and I just needed shots for him). The bill ended up being over 200.00 and they gave me medication to give him 8 days before a dental appointment. On my way home I realized they did not do his nails so I called and they said to come the next day. I did, and they tried to charge me for them (I had already paid for that service the day before). A few days later they called to see how he was doing on his medication...I was told not to give it to him until 8 days before his dental appointment that is not even booked. I complaind about the service, I was really don't even know which person was the vet. She said she would call with a quote for the dental and that was before new yeas. I Have changed vets and will not go back!

We took our dog to get her ear looked at because she was shaking her head and kept her ear tilted. Initially we called to just buy some ear cleanser, my wife was told she had to bring our dog in for exam to be sure there wasnt any infections. Upon taking her in, I suggested to the vet she just needed a cleaning. We were told it looked like an infection and our $50 consultation turned into $262 after all the medications. We only seen the Dr Carol for a very brief moment, she stuck a long q-tip into the dogs ear without any caution to rapid movement. There was no mention of the drugs until they were brought into the room. Our 20 min trip turned into 1.5hr. The staff was pleasant but didn't explain the 5 drugs properly and Dr Carol disappeared without, lets just say it made us question the integrity of this clinic. They said to make a new appt for 2wks. We said we will call, the assistant came back and said due to the severity 10 days. Her ear was fine the next day. Just needed cleaning!

Took my sister with her dog to have a growth looked at. When she called she advised the receptionist that she was on Asche and could not afford much. The receptionist checked with the doctor and advised that the office visit would be $30. Another story when we got there. Tech looked at the dog and Dr Carol would not even examine the growth or dog. Almost like she was afraid. I asked questions on cost and the doctor would not answer and walked out of the room. We were treated very unprofessionally and she really does not really have the animals welfare in mind. Only wants to get paid immediately. AS OTHERS HAVE SAID RUN!!!!

This vet is terribly stern and does not want to talk to her clients. She has her staff consult with her and then they relay what "the wizard of Oz" deems necessary. She pushes drugs and proceedures that are not needed and leads you to believe the cost is much less. I went in to a 75 dollar exam then paid 240.00. My poor dog also had quite a reaction to her vaccinations. The staff are not very knowlegable. I would never go back to this band of **** again! Save your pet---RUN!

Doc Carol? does anyone actually get a consult with her? my first visit she wanted to put my dog down!! This last visit, she refused to give needed medications unless I could pay up front, AFTER agreeing to payments, which have been made promptly. And when promised she would call after doing an expensive and useless test, she did not call back with results and told the staff, Chantal(who is as bad) to tell me removing the lump would be about $2000. On a 12 year old, otherwise healthy dog!! Don't trust a person who wont talk to you and hides from you when you ask questions. My pets are family and I wouldn't go to this uncaring facility again

Dr. Carol was very helpful at first, I didnt have the money upfront to pay for my dogs bill, when I noticed him not walking on his hind legs. When she decided she would need to do surgery if he didnt start walking within a few days, and that she needed to keep him over night. i reluctantly left my dog there, each day she would call saying he is doing better, but when i had decided that i would take my dog to a different vet, he magically started to have seizures. and had to put him down
