Click to report rating    8/23/13   5     5     5     5   After suffering for several months and many visits to two other vets, we took our dog to U of I. They answered all of our questions and performed surgery that others said wasn't possible. They called before during and after the surgery and twice a day while she was there. She had an amazing recovery .The care was excellent start to finish RID: 46489
8/27/12   2     3     1     1   Most knowledgeable staff in the area, comprehensive care. Service and communication though is horrible, and the prices are ridiculous; trying to get a simple prescription refilled for our dog who has an undiagnosed serious disease is like pulling teeth; had a bone marrow biopsy SCHEDULED for a certain day and time, and when we arrived for the scheduled appointment we were met by a vet student who had zero knowledge of our dog's history and who told us that "hopefully" the bone marrow biopsy could be done today. Results from said biopsy still are not available and it's been a week. RID: 36846
Click to report rating    4/26/12   5     5     5     5   Dr Rubin and fourth year student Elizabeth saw our dog to day. The experience was wonderful, they were both very kind and prompt. We were seen quickly and the tests needed were carried out quickly as well. Two very outstanding care givers. RID: 33803
Click to report rating    8/22/10   1     2     1     2   My dog had liver disease and was managed on diet and medication for about a year until his disease worsened. The staff at the hospital said that they couldn't make a diagnosis without a biopsy but instead of just biopsying his liver, the surgeon insisted on biopsying his pancreas even though he had no evidence of pancreatic disease. Unfortunately, he had to stay in the hospital for 5 days because I couldn't pick him up due to a family emergency. He wouldn't eat after the surgery (he had been eating prior) and I had to beg the staff to at least force feed him until I could pick him up. When I got home, I took him to another vet hospital and found out that he had pancreatitis from the surgery (UofI never bothered to check). After 3 weeks of suffering, my dog died. UofI didn't care anything about my pet's well being, only about following their 'surgery protocol'. Once my pet had the surgery, they treated him like a lab animal, not a beloved pet. I would never go back there. RID: 19352
Click to report rating    8/14/08   2     4     1     1   I will never return to this place. They made it clear that they did not want to deal with my cat unless I was ready to spend $3000. They did, however offer to put him down for $8. I took him to Dr. Todd, The Pet Pro, who took great, loving care of him at a fairly reasonable cost. What a difference! RID: 9662
Click to report rating    12/1/07   5     5     5     5   Without a doubt, I think this is the best vet in the entire Champaign/Urbana area (if not all of Central Illinois). They pretty much only handle special cases (like if your pet has a rare disease or terminally ill) and treat emergencies, so you'll have to find an outside vet for vaccinations and regular checkups. It's a teaching hospital so be ready to have a team of 6-8 people discussing your pet. Usually the students will come in with a resident, they'll look over your pet, discuss, then go to the on-site vet to figure out the best possible treatment. Cutting-edge technology and the most current treatments are used here. Very friendly and a very caring environment. No complaints! RID: 6539
