Click to report rating    9/15/20   1     1     1     1   We had a horrific experience with Dr. Penny at Tantallon Vet. After a 2min exam that we were unable to be present for, we were told our dog was in immense pain, had cancer, there was no point in operating, & he had a few months to live. The conversation was completely unexpected & extremely insensitive. It was rushed, harsh, & completely uninformative. Aside from the short physical exam there was no actual testing for this diagnosis, as we were told the cancer had already spread and there was no point. We were told our only option was medication, which we had to pick up at the window, with no explanation of how the medication worked/what kind of side effects there are. After a 2nd opinion we had a test performed, found no sign of cancer & were told to wean him off the medication immediately or the side effects will likely kill him. Now, months later, he shows no signs of pain, has plenty of energy, eats normally & is acting like a puppy again (with no operations, procedures, or meds). RID: 69533
Click to report rating    11/8/19   1     1     1     1   I call for my cats meds 1.5 weeks before I needed them. I was told on two different occasions that they were there. I go to get them (which isn't a quick drive for me) and I was told the lady forgot to order them as she was leaving for vacation that day. Like why tell me there are there twice to only tell me they never got ordered??? My cats meds come in a week later and the ladies working that night we're very rude when I went to pick them up. I got the manager to contact me the next day and I found this whole situation not acceptable. When she calls me she was not the nicest and did not care about the situation. She told me I should've called a week in advance. I told her I called 1.5 weeks in advance and even a couple more days after being told they were in. It was October 22 when I called the refill in and I didn't get them till nov 7th. How can you trust a vet with your pets life when they can't even tell the truth and order medication in. This is only some of my bad expe RID: 68714
Click to report rating    6/11/19   1     4     1     1   My dog slightly tore his Cruciated ligament. I took him in and they talked me into putting him under sedative and then manipulating his knee( when we went in he was still able to use his leg and was standing on it) After; they manipulated his knee, they must have completely tore the ligament because he couldn't use it at all. Then they started saying he needed the surgery. I said no. Bought a knee brace for him online. He healed pretty good on his own in about 6 months. Made sure he didn't do stairs our jump on couches and no walks. Just short jaunts to the neighbors house. They ruined his knee. I won't be going back ever again! RID: 68111
Click to report rating    9/22/18   2     4     3     2   Along with other clients, my child had to listen to the owner, David, berating and swearing at the staff during an meeting, the front desk was left empty. We know staff who have left because of his behavior. Dr. Mosher (Dr. Dogfood) was obsessed with selling dogfood even though she had to be reminded several times that my dog didn't have any of the conditions that might require the dog foods she was pushing. Dr Gormley was the pushiest person I have ever encountered in my life, she totally ignored my stressed pet crawling up me and down my back and had me pinned into a corner as she tried to sell more product . The other vets have been fine but there is a lot of turnover. I avoid going in at all due to the bad experiences, they kept my husband waiting so very long once that he won't go either. the location is convenient but I am going to change vets after the latest experience. Click to report rating    6/27/18   2     3     3     1   Overpriced and pushy, taking the most $$$ out of your pocket is the only concern, would not recommend bringing your pet there. RID: 66391
Click to report rating    5/11/18   3     5     4     1   Prime location. That's the business model. They had a great vet there but she does not work there anymore. RID: 66116
Click to report rating    4/10/16   1     3     3     1   Our first experience, Dr Heather tried to sell shots for our dog she later admitted is not necessary in Nova Scotia as we simply don't have that parasite here. Although they are very friendly there, every time we go, they are trying to sell things you don't need. When your animal is in trouble, they pounce at opportunity. Knowing how much you love your pet, when your animal is at risk, they really take advantage. For a period of a couple months after surgery, they totally took advantage of my wife... she was dropping $100-$300/week for unnecessary stuff till we caught on. We have finally realized we need a vet we can trust RID: 60273
Click to report rating    3/16/16   5     5     5     5   Well I have read the comments here and here is mine. I have been taking my boy to this clinic since he was 2 and half months old and Dr Karen Gormley is his Dr. So after several visits with our boy we have been very pleased with the care given to him. Dr Gormley shows a lot of compassion and empathy to our dog and us and his dog owners. Yes it's expensive and I don't like it at all but both my husband and I very confident that Dr Gormley is doing her best for our boy. As for the staff they are very courtesy and respectful at any time we visit or call for anything. I have never ever seen anyone at that clinic unkind or mean but as I said that's my opinion and I can only share my experience. Both my husband and I have thought of going somewhere cheaper but what if something does not go right from take our boy to another vet, so that is a risk we don't think we are willing to make as Dr Gormley knows our dog from the time we brought him home. Anyway yes too expensive but our boy is well. RID: 60046
Click to report rating    10/25/15   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my cat here for years. Dr. Karen is truly amazing, and the front staff Nicole and Bobbi always make me feel welcome. I would recommend Dr. Karen to anyone, she always calks, keeps in touch, even if weeks has passed. RID: 58790
Click to report rating    6/29/15   5     5     5     4   Dr. Karen moser has gone over and beyond the call of duty for my dog celeidh..I wrote a previous review but wasn't in my right frame of mind at the time..my little girl is doing very well because of Karen and her staff..I apologize whole heartily to her for my previous comments..I will continue to entrust her with celeidh said care.. RID: 57581
Click to report rating    3/10/15   5     4     5     1   Dr mosher did not seem to concerned with celeidhs eye seeping and after the expensive surgery I took her elsewhere..now she needs another operation to repair what Karen didn't seem to concerned about..vet clinic is very expensive and they need to care more for the animals not the price..I have spent thousands of dollars there but will never go back..it's a shame really because it is a nice clean clinic but when they put money above care for our babies then it becomes an issue..I am very disappointed..(bev) RID: 56217
Click to report rating    2/20/15   4     4     3     3   We had brought our cat in to get some teeth extracted and she ended up with sever burns all over belly and shoulder's and a bunch of stiches....she has already gone through 3 surgeries due to the burns....which are very disturbing....she is still in recovery....I do want to point out that Dr. Mosher and Dr. Karen are wonderful people and care for pet's. RID: 55961
Click to report rating    1/30/15   5     5     5     1   my dog had her eye removed and after 2 months of running back and forth to the vet because of her eye seeping she told me she left part of her tear duct in..this doesn't make me very happy and the incision site is healed but partially opened..meds are very expensive and each time I went it was always with a new vet..now I paid a high price for the eye removal and have a issue with it that cannot be fixed from what they tell me..I am not very happy with this at all.they are very expensive..shud have gone to the vet across the street(Dr.bail).. RID: 55701
7/16/14   5     5     5     5   Dr. Bail is the most compassionate vet I have ever met. She truly cares about the animals she cares for. It is not about money with this lady. I love her and her clinic for the care and compassion she has always shown me and my fur babies RID: 52593
4/9/14   1     3     4     1   I have given this clinic many chances to get it right. It is very hit and miss and in the end look out for big potential of heartbreak. The front office staff is efficient and pleasant but when they are sending you home with a post surgical pet that is clearly not doing well, you will not want to trust their decisions. End of life decisions for another pet were handled by head vet who seems unable to know when testing and treating a dying animal, are inappropriate bad advice. No consideration or sensitivity to pet owner. Very expensive medications and a high likelihood that vet diet will be prescribed, no matter what your wishes. I give this clinic a very poor rating. RID: 50976
Click to report rating    6/17/13   5     5     5     5   We've taken our dog here for the past 2 years. I've read other reviews and some people were not happy here. I've never had an issue here and have always felt welcome. We lived in Alberta with another dog that had an eye issue, and it took 4 visits to a vet and then a specialist to find the problem. An eyelash that was growing in towards his eye, so I can understand how emotional and sometimes frustrating it is when there is something wrong with your pet, but Vets are people too, and they can miss things just like you and I. We've always had great service here, and never had any issues. Always friendly! RID: 43159
Click to report rating    5/22/13   3     4     5     2   The staff at the front desk were very nice but I felt that the young female vet I had was very pushy with medications and expensive testing. RID: 42629
Click to report rating    4/28/12   3     3     3     1   clean, efficient and not overly busy apparently - we felt that the staff and environment were not warm or overly welcoming. Overall, I did not feel my animal was cared for with the sort of interest and dedication I would have liked I would not go there again. RID: 33847
Click to report rating    3/25/12   5     5     5     4   I have been to various vets and have never recieved the level of care i do at this clinic. They really care about my pets and I never have to wait for them to get results from tests because they do everything on site. They always call multiple times to check in on my pet and they always fit them in and treat them like their own. They have been nothing but professional and curteous and my pets don't even get upset when we go there because they have had nothing but good experiences and trust the staff. Amanda R from Bedford. RID: 33137
Click to report rating    2/15/11   1     4     4     3   This is a new clinic that appears to be well equip however non-vetrinary staff were pushy, demeaning and unethical in their approach. Will not be returning to this clinic. RID: 22871
