Doctor Ann saved my dog’s life. The two of them proceeded to fall in love. She treated our border collie until he was 16 and a half. He loved to visit Ann, mainly because he was treated like a king during his visits. Ann is thorough, knowledgeable and open to alternative treatments. Her love of animals is so obvious. I was leery of a drug so she gave me a natural alternative that worked a dream. My cat has received excellent care, as well. This clinic is expensive but you get what you pay for and I feel my animals are getting the best.

Would never recommend this clinic. My dog was unable to get up on his own and was vomiting excessive amounts of blood. I just needed someone to euthanize my boy and end his suffering. The cold uncaring receptionist told me that since he wasn't a regular patient and they were fully booked they could not fit him in. As I tearfully asked if they couldnt just fit him in since it was an emergency they very coldly told me it wasn't an emergency clinic and to try a clinic that is over an hour drive. Any caring compassionate clinic would not turn away a dog in this condition. The next clinic I called was double booked but they managed to fit us in no questions asked.

My Jack Russell got quilled by a porcupine Saturday night at my cottage in 2013. I tried to pull quills out and got one stuck in my behind and it hurt to pull it out of me! I left a message on the answering machine and Dr. Ann called back that night! and I met her Sunday morning at the clinic and sedated my dog and got the quills out! In 2019, my dog was super excited to be at the cottage and tore the ligament in her hind leg at second day at the cottage.The clinic was super busy, but they squeezed me in and prescribed my dog medications. Dr. Ann accurately diagnosed my dog's injury, I confirmed with vet in Toronto and top surgeon in Toronto. Dr. Ann's price for corrective surgery is much lower than quoted in Toronto. I totally trust Dr. Ann. Since my dog will be spending the summer at the cottage, the Toronto Vets recommended my dog get surgery at the cottage.

There a a couple of very negative reviews on this site, and I'm stunned to read them! Dr. Ann is a gem; professional, knowledgeable and compassionate, as are the staff. Have no fear about putting your pets into her care

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE. THIS PLACE WILL RIP YOU OFF ! I HAD MY CAT RANSOMED BACK TO ME BY THE STAFF. I WAS LIED TO REPEATEDLY ABOUT PRICES, AND THEN OVERCHARGED. I WILL PUT MY CAT DOWN MYSELF BEFORE EVER GOING BACK TO ALGONQUIN EAST ANIMAL CLINIC!

when living in a rural area you take what you can get. We got the best! Thank you Dr. Ann and staff for your compassion and skill. Always there for support a call after the visit to make sure everything is ok. Wonderful caring staff. Never a doubt at the diagnosis. Very trustworthy in skill. Always a pleasure. Best animal clinic around. Very recently, my dog was very sick, we had to do an emergency call with Dr. Ann, after trying her suggested home remedy but it didn't work. She met is at the clinic on a Sunday afternoon and gave him what he needed. I ended up taking him back the next day for a X-ray and it turned out he needed surgery. She worked quickly and got him in that same afternoon. Our household is very happy with Dr. Ann and her staff. We use to fight with our dogs to get them in the door at our previous vet, but now he just walks right in. Thank you Dr. Ann and staff for caring and working very quickly.

Dr. Ann is fabulous! I have been taking my dog here since she was a puppy and service has been very good. Any time we have had any "emergencies", they have been very good to squeeze us into their schedules, and work around my work schedule. Prices are a little higher than other vets, but being local and in a rural area makes the prices totally reasonable, especially since I don't have to take time off work, or travel very far for the service. Keep up the great work Dr. Ann and all of your staff!

We have 5 dogs , and 2 cats , all go too Dr Anne .1 Old English bulldog has had breast surgery for cancer doing well,1 other Old English bulldog surgery for a dislocated elbow , doing very well ect ect . Dr Anne and her staff are the most passionate group I have ever come across in there field not only to there patients but also to there owners , as we all know it is one of the worst decisions to put down a life long friend , Dr Annes staff are so wonderful at that time believe Me . The facilities are clean well organized and now they are expanding to provide more services to the community in the field of veterinarian services .

Dr. Ann saved my dog's life. I called her to tell her my dog seemed like she was dying and because I could not make it in to the clinic she stayed up all night with me by the phone and told me exactly what to to do to save her. And she didn't get any money for this! She is amazing!!!

I only surmise the negative ratings this vet received below stem from a personal vendetta. I have 4 dogs, a puppy in her care right now for a spay, one with a grade 6 heart murmur, a 14 year old lab, and an obnoxious healthy male border collie. Dr. Ann is AMAZING and PROFESSIONAL and CARING and INTELLIGENT and OPEN MINDED and NON-JUDGEMENTAL with me regarding each of my pets and their issues. She has also displayed great COMPASSION when I had to euthanize a dog and a cat over the last couple of years. I have had many vets in my lifetime and none as good as she is.

For the first time I have a dog who does not plant her feet at the door of the vet clinic. That above all else tells me that she nor any other dog has fear of this place. Thank you DR. Ann for your wonderful caring attitude.

Thanx so much for your wonderful care while we were there. :) We lost our Bear (the screamer) last Nov. :( Home is feeling pretty empty right now with both boys gone. I may be back can't find a vet here that does natural remedies or food. Love you guys!! :)

I LOVE Dr. Annand so does my kitty...I have NEVER had a bad experience there and have always found her extremely helpful even when calling on emerg basis...I have seen her go out of her way literally for friends pets also.Don't understand the negative reviews other than there are will be extenuating circumstances with diffeent cases and personalities often can come into play.I have ALWAYS found the staff...her hubby...and especially Dr.Ann to be veyr loving and helpful.She really cares about your pet!

I raise hounds, at present have 6,,Best Vet east of Ottawa, will listen, and accept old ways,,,saved two of my black and tans from parvo, i thought they were dead,,,,excellent vet Dr. Ann and staff,,,,,also long eared hound lovers

Very disappointed with professional services in more ways than one. Poor communication skills and extremely money oriented. No conclusive answers as to why our pet passed while in their care.

The care and expertise we received here during a C- Section was unbelievable. The gentleness and deep concern for my **** and her puppies was touching, and I had complete confidence throughout the whole procedure. I even learned a few things. It was an amazing experience, and my **** recovered quickly, and all seven puppies made it through emergency surgery. Now that is really amazing. Thanks to Dr. Rankin and her amazing skilled and confident vet tech, Merideth.

Dr.Ann is the most wonderfull vet around. When U first went to her my dog had a umbilical hernia, she actually sat done on the floor to examine her belly while I held her up, the other place I went would be waiting for me to pick up a 60lb dog and put her on the table. Ann is always glad to see you and answers any question that you would have without hesitation in full and in a way that you understand. I would have no hesitation in recomending her to anyone. To go there is a long trip for me but my kids are worth it to me.

Dr Ann Rankin is the Best vet I've ever dealt with and Andrew is wonderful too. The staff here are so loving. They are not in it for the money at all but in it for the very well being of the pets because they love them. They make sure to always not only make the pets feel safe and comfortable but help you to feel comfortable and always understand what is going on. If you have questions just ask away. They will answer them always in a way that you can understand them without all the veterinarian Jargon. This clinic is the best clinic I've ever dealt with and very caring. They are always willing to listen to what you have to say. And do as you need done for Your furbabies. I highly recommend them.

Watch Out! Wife is the doctor but hubby rules with an iron fist. Make sure you agree with him or he'll show you the door. God forgive you if you have an opinion on how you want your animal treated. If you have any questions they are usually too difficult for the staff to answer, they usually forget to put on their thinking caps. Maybe they should try using their brains in treating animals as every dog/cat are unique individuals not mass productions that should be treated the same as every other dog/cat. Sometimes there are actual reasons people don't want to do certain treatments and there are alternatives to what the vet recommends. Whatever they may be you'll be sure not to get any alternatives at this place and they are not professional enough to take the time to explain their reasons to you. Thank God there still are professionals out there that are willing to listen and talk about your concerns. But not this place.
