I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the College Street Animal Hospital and service provided by Dr. Saram. I took my cat in for visible signs of pains in his mouth. I was told that my cat was aggressive and would need to be sedated for a physical exam which I agreed to with no problems. I was then brought out 900 dollar invoice for multiple additional services that I did not understand. When I asked why they were on the invoice, Dr. Saram came out and spoke to me in an extremely rude and condescending tone. Rather than explain why my cat needed various services/tests, he made me feel embarrassed for even asking and accused me of not being able to afford what was being recommended, which was not the case.
I declined many of the services because I didn’t understand the information being provided and didn’t feel comfortable with my interaction with Dr. Saram. In the end, I was charged 300 dollars and sent home with 10 days of antibiotics and 3 days of pain killers for my c

Dr Saram was recommended to me by a friend who has had many animals over the years. I brought him my cat and my 2 chihauhuas. They loved him and I have been going to him for about 10 years. What I really like is how caring and personal the staff and Dr. Saram are. They care not only about your pets, but also about you. He gave me great and effective advice on how to discipline my dogs, which I've shared with my friends and neighbours. He and his staff also give you options on treatments and products and don't try to push unnecessary things on to you. I also really appreciated it when, because I was short of money, Dr. Saram gave me a discount on the vet costs. I have since moved to a different neighbourhood and have to drive about a half hour to the hospital. I have about 5 vet hospitals closer to me - some within blocks of my home, but I will continue to take my pets to Dr. Saram because this vet and this animal hospital is the best!!

Dr. Saram is an excellent Vet! He helped me with my little dog who had been badly neglected by his former owner. He needed 9 teeth out and two bouts of parasite medicine. The Dr. was kind and helped me get my dog to a better standard of health! The staff were great too. I would tell anyone who wants the best care for their animal to pick Dr. Saram and The College Street Animal Hospital!I am most thankful!

Dr. Saram took care of my cat in his final hours and was incredibly compassionate. He has always offered different approaches to fit my budget which is nice. Paula and Tiffany on staff are amazing - I only wish I had the opportunity to see them more often!

I highly recommend College Street Animal hospital for the skill, professionalism and passion of its doctor and staff members.
After moving houses, my 1 year old golden doodle was exhibiting signs of excitement and anger when she is left alone at home, and shortly after that she started chewing on the furniture, ripping couches open and scratching all walls and doors of the house when no one was home. It took Dr. Saram minutes of being with my dog and asking me questions to accurately diagnose her problem and identify the right approach to solve it. Dr. Saram not only gave me the right diagnosis and advice, he was also committed and determined to follow through on her progress throughout the week to make sure I achieved successful results. He was available, responsive and patient. He coached me on how to deal with different situations and got me to cause a breakthrough in my dog’s behaviour. In less than a week, my dog went from being scared and misunderstood to obedient and happy.

I started bringing my Dog, Nuke, to this clinic after I noticed blood seeping through his fur while I was visiting family in the city. It was the first time he had needed any emergency care, and i was obviously freaked out. Dr. Saram was kind, attentive, and put up with this hysterical pet owners first scare good naturedly. He made sure to explain that the injury was related to a skin condition, that it was easily treatable, and he did his best to calm me down (and he did a good job getting Nuke to like him too :) ). He prescribed medication and he was better within a few weeks. The clinic staff called me regularly to check on Nukie's progress. I was so impressed with this clinic, I have made Dr. Saram my new vet, even though it means a long commute into the city for check ups. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a vet.

I brought my dog to this place for yeast problems, his ears. gives me cream and rinse. 370 dollars. tells me that its a way of life I'm not cleaning my dogs ears enough... twice a day everyday... I don't think so, dog got a hematoma from shaking his ears so hard. cream failed! asked to find the problem as to why the ears are doing this, blood test done no idea.no follow up! said he would check online!!?! asked for other options and he sais they are all too expensive! this is the point I asked for a specialist, if you want to waste time and like paying to be talked down to,him leaving when your talking to him! this is your guy. BTW I have a sick dog, possible food allergy and the receptionist is trying to give my dog treats with out asking if its ok!?! this place has untrained staff! a very RUDE vet and if you have questions about something you have insulted him by asking a question. I have no idea where he gets off. but check the other posts here. find someone who cares about your pet

I came across this clinic while searching desperately for a hospital that would accept my sick cat in for a second opinion. People were talking so highly about Dr. Saram that gave me hope. The next day I just dropped by the clinic. This doctor is so good hearted and helpful. He took time out of his busy schedule to hear me. He couldn't take my DJ in on such a short notice however, he called right away and referred us to a very good clinic. Now DJ is on his way to recovery from a PU surgery that saved his life. Thank you so much Dr. Saram!

They have been caring for my cats (read "babies") for over 3 years now and will continue to do so even though I have moved and there are several hospitals closer. I have always received excellent care from both doctor and staff.
The wonderful ladies at the front desk are accommodating, helpful, and informative.
Dr. Saram is thorough, understanding, competent, and he really takes the time to make sure that my cats are happy and healthy WITHOUT UNNECESSARY TESTS!!
Everyone here truly has your pets best interests at heart.
I have been to a few other hospitals in my life with friends, family etc and I am always glad that I have somewhere better!

My vet had suggested that I get my dog's teeth professionally cleaned. I was a little hesitant about this as he is only 2 yrs old and didn't like the idea of sedating him just for this. While in Toronto visiting family, I decided to drop by here for a second opinion. I had heard such great things about Dr. Saram. He examined my dog and said that he definitely did not need to have his teeth cleaned at the vet and that a bone from the **** would do it.Within a couple of days with the bone, the pieces of tartar fell off! It only cost a couple of dollars for the bone and saved me hundreds of dollars in teeth cleaning bills!
As well, I had some behavioural issues with my dog and he took his time to explain and demonstrate ways we could correct his behaviour. He sent us home with handouts which were so helpful! Dr. Saram is extremely knowledgeable and very passionate with what he does. Although I live in Montreal, I will definitely be taking the trip to Toronto to see Dr. Saram!

I went to this clinic 3 times with my cat and was treated very condescendingly when I had questions.I don't doubt the technical competenciees of the staff but being talked down to when you have a sick pet is the last thing I need.

My pet was misdiagnosed by this vet who did not do any differential diagnostics and assumed the worst possible outcome. We were charged a significant amount of money and if it weren't for a second opinion, my pet would likely have died for having not been treated properly. The vet, while nice enough, did not seem to understand how to read radiology reports and was very reluctant to believe that his opinion might be wrong, even though it was not built on any solid evidence. I would take my animals here for simple things such as shots but for any complex issue I would go to a clinic that has more than one vet. I wouldn't want what happened to us to happen to anyone else.

Dr. Saram is by far the best vet that I have been to. He is knowledgeable, confident and cares about animals. Most importantly, he is honest and does not overcharge or take the "alarmist" approach that I have found other vets to take (which inevitably requires spending on frivolous testing). I would highly recommend taking your animal to this clinic!

Few years ago i change my pet's veterinarian. Started going to College Street Animal Clinic. In case of any serious health issue you don't need to ask for appointment. Just go there and your pet will be at great hand. One word for the "College Street Animal Hospital" is they are the "Best" in Toronto. Dr. R.Saram is veterinarian who truly cares about pets. I have outdoor/indoor cat (Pumpkin)who always get into health issues. Any time my cat needs him, he is always there for me. I always drop my cat in the morning and pick him up after work. Cost wise he is very cheap. Dr. Saram will never prescribe you any medication which you don't need. Staffs are extremely friendly and accommodating. This facility is very clean. I strongly recommend this clinic for all four paws family members.

I brought my mouse to this clinic as I had noticed she was developing scabs and scratching and thought that it might have been mites. I felt that Dr.Saram dismissed my concerns and in a patronizing tone told me to 'just take her out into the sun'. His 5 minute consult, while I admit was reduced slightly in price, did absolutely nothing to help and only made me feel like I was somehow wasting his time by bringing in my mouse. I have a feeling had my pet been a cat or dog he might have treated me differently, but this should not be the case, not if his clinic claims to treat pocket pets. The staff up front were really nice however due to my experience with the vet I do not recommend this hospital and whether it be my mouse, cat, or dog, I would never go back there again. I incidentally brought her to another clinic for a second opinion where the vet successfully treated her for mites.

Dr Saram is one of the best most ethical vets in the city. He is actually less costly than most vets. They will give you an estimate of costs before doing anything, they will not pressure you. I've been to several vets and he is the most compassionate and professional. They were patient, kind and concerned. I must also applaud the receptionist staff for being so kind towards me. I certainly tested their patience with the barrage of phone calls I would inflict upon them to ask how I can better treat my little cat from home. Not once, did they lose their patience with me.

this is the best vet i have been to. my kitty almost died at 4months old. he was suffering from coxidia and had to be hospitalized. i took him to 3 vets and none helped me. finally i took him here and dr. saram helped simba fully recover. if not for him, my best friend would not have been here right now. bessssttt vet ever. he actually takes his time and fully treats the animal, instead of giving a 10min. time slot then sending you for an over priced bill.

I started taking my dog to Dr. Saram and his team at College Street Animal Hospital just over a year ago and have had great service and advice from the start. They special order my dog's food monthly and always call to let me know when it's in. Dr. Saram does house calls when it is difficult for his patients or their parents to make it in. His approach to treatment is always reasonable - minimally invasive treatments when possible and easy on your chequebook too! He takes care of all types of animals, helps homeless pets whenever he can and gives great advise on how to proceed with taking care of your pet. They do boarding and grooming too so you can get everything you need all in one place. Great hospital, great staff. Thanks for taking such good care of us!

My friend found an inured wild bird on the street, and did what any reasonable animal lover would do - sought help from the nearest animal health and welfare experts, in this case College St Vet. Instead of being commended for helping the bird, the front staff first looked at my friend as if she were nuts, then proceeded to make an account for her AND sign a consent form to euthanize this bird (that was slowly dying while all this was happening). She then had to wait more for the vet, who was not very friendly and said something along the lines of, 'i guess i'll report this', (to public health, as neuro-suspect birds should be for the sake of West Nile virus data) - and that, only after my friend brought it up. Then they charged her $50 for the cremation. I've worked in many vet clinics, and NEVER have we charged someone for euthanizing and disposing of such a bird. We are in the business of helping animals -well, most of us are- this debacle made me very dubious of this hospital.

My dog needed a costly surgery and multiple checkups shortly after this clinic opened. Dr. Saram and his team really went the extra mile in helping me deal with pet insurance agencies, cost, making sure my dog was comfortable, and did everything they could to the best of their abilities. They even call periodically to check up on him and keep us up to date with allergies, vaccines and parasite treatment. I am SO GRATEFUL for this veterinary hospital and the wonderful team behind it.

This is the only vet I've been to in Canada so I don't really have a lot to compare to, but as far as alleviating the discomfort in my cat this vet does a good job. There is only one vet in this clinic so wait times are quite long, definitely make an appointment before you go! The vet isn't the warmest and most friendly person, but he is knowledgeable, meticulous and extremely detail-oriented! I took my cat in because of diarrhea and to test for FIV because our other cat tested positive at another clinic, and he called several labs to compare prices to get me the cheapest price. I adopted my cat from TCR and its health card that came with it didn't have a lot of information, so he called TCR to ask about his files and had them fax the files to him so he wouldn't have to repeat vaccinations that are costly and unnecessary. I also had to get a rabies test for my cat because I might take him back home, and he even searched the import criteria to make sure I had everything done right.
