VMC is 3 miles from my house but after several years of visiting them I now travel to avoid their fluctuant level of service. Dr. Gaston is the only steady vet and though he seems good there's a lot of staff turnover among the (all female) vets he hires. The office staff is pretty consistent but the vet's assistants tend to be young and arrogant, which is odd and offputting (I saw an assistant gesturing about a client while the client had her back turned). Vet care is inconsistent--I once brought my dog in when she began walking stiffly with her back arched and she was diagnosed with a pulled neck/back. I returned with her week later and different vet said she had an ovarian cyst. During surgery they discovered instead a football sized kidney which by that point required removal from a very weak pet. No prescriptions allowed for medication purchase elsewhere, expensive vet care, the grooming area seemed old and dirty a few years ago so I never used them for it.
