Poor care all around. Lack of communication and poor bedside manner. Lacks honesty and compassion. Promises 24 hour but has no care provider after hours leaving pets unattended. Killed my dog

Dr. McDowell opened his hospital for us on a holiday weekend for our siamese cat. She was very old and was not eating weighing so little and as unsure as we were about our pet's chances of survival vs suffering, he allowed us time to think through our decision. At no time did he rush us into making a decision. He allowed me to hold her for the procedure and explained fully how it would go. My municipal by-law states you cannot bury your pet on your own property, but the Dr. said he would not stop me from leaving with her body. He provided a burial box, lined it with a clean pink blanket and gave us a memorial stone. Total cost $11. A huge difference from a windsor vet on a weekday charging a friend $300+ to euthanize their small dog. The man takes his work home with him EVERY SINGLE DAY. Constantly thinking about which illness and treatment. he is in it for love of animals and not for the almighty dollar.

What a pleasure it was to finally find a vet who is dedicated to the animals rather than the bottom line like most vets we've had over the years. No...he does not have several examination rooms nor expensive furnishings, etc. but that is quickly overlooked and even appreciated once you meet Dr. McDowell and realize he is all about the animals. We are delighted to have our dogs in his care. He could easily have recommended extensive dental work, x-rays, blood work, etc. but instead told us that only simple cleaning would be sufficient for one of the dogs. Our former vet said our dogs' teeth must be cleaned every 6-12 months. That was 3 years ago. The staff were very courteous and professional.

The front line staff were horrible. I was made to wait while she checked in 3 people that came in after me. Refused to call me when the procedure was over. I was put on hold for 15 minutes. When we went to pick up our dog after his surgery, no one came out to speak with us about how it went or if there were any special instructions. No follow up on the vets part. They even saw fit to mail us the results of a biopsy instead of the vet speaking with us directly. We will never bring our dog or any other animal we may have here. I can't even believe we were talked into seeing this vet!

I received unbelievably poor animal care there on almost each visit. AFTER my cat was euthanized I heard of possible treatments for her problem; they killed a healthy animal without informing me of treatment options. Dr. McDowell performed a rectal exam on my cat BARE-HANDED, which is highly unsanitary. My sick cat & I spend an hour in the waiting room for an already completed test result while Dr. McDowell made a non-urgent call & talked at length in front of us. I was told a pick-up time for my dog but when I arrived I was told that it would be another two hours. My dog spent most of the day there and clearly wouldn't relieve himself indoors but not one of the many techs standing around talking would take him outside so when I asked to take him out he was desperate to go. My dog fell down the stairs after the procedure when they knew he was drowsy & unsteady on his feet but no one helped us, before or after his fall.

tHEY GAVE MY PET THE BEST POSSIBLE CARE. hE PASSED AWAY AFTER HIS SURGERY, HIS PASSING WAS NOT DUE TO HIS SURGERY. hE PASSED THE DAY AFTER HIS SURGERY, DUE TO HIS FEAR OF STORMS. WHICH WE HAD THAT DAY. i BELEIVE THEY DID THEIR BEST.

Over the last few weeks, we were gently led into facing the conclusion that our beautiful cat was near the end. We had a number of necessary tests done in the beginning - although not definitive at first, further visits & an ultrasound made us realize that her quality of life was severely diminished. Both Dr. McDowell with his years of experience and compassion with animals & the people who love them, and Dr. Kate - a young, new vet with a caring heart who is willing to go the distance for her animal patients, helped us make the difficult decision to put her to sleep. Although the clinic was very busy, Dr. McDowell did not rush us; we were in a private room at the end & we had all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. Thank you for helping us do what was needed & making it a little easier. P.S. For those reading this review, I know that the cost of the procedures can make a difference - be assured that they are reasonable & make every effort to accommodate your needs.

If you don't mind waiting for appointments and the very public setting of your pets treatment then you will probably like the practice. I didn't really like to hear the diagnosis of other peoples pets when they were about to be put down in the waiting room filled with people, nor did I appreciate the room filled with people hearing about my dog's illness (which resulted in him being put down as well). I feel that they should take you somewhere out of the waiting area for such serious discussions.

A very friendly facility. This Vetranarian truely loves his job. The care is awesome and his bed-side manner with everyone is phenominal. A great place to take your loved furry friends :)We remember him seeing an orphan baby buuny that my dog had got a hold of. My little girl was so concerned for th little rabbit. He explained the nature of animals to my little girl and that this was a natural instinct for a dog. He also recognized the compassion of a little girl and gave some sauve and some guaze to my daughter and told her how to nurse the rabbits eye back. He also gave her the address of a safew place she could drop it off. He told her what a great job she did with building a little cardboard house for it. i went to th counter to pay for his time and patience and he said don't worry about it this time as he smiled at my daughter and we walked out. Thank-you for showing her such kindess and compassion as well as all of your staff.

Have delt with this Vet for 20+years. Dr. McDowell is excellent with all animals. When he sees your pet he makes you feel like that pet is the center of his world. Excellent service. He has been there for us from puppy to adult stages, birthing and liter care, and finally the kind and gentle part of saying goodbye. 10 stars in our family's books.
