We took our dog for a torn ACL. The more expensive option of surgery was recommended. In the middle of the surgery, the Vet found "a mass" and stopped the surgery. Following a biopsy, he found a degenerative joint condition but recommended the surgery be completed. We ended up paying over $7,000 instead of $3,500 and now our dog has a bowed leg. We believe we were ripped off by this hospital and that the work performed was very poor. We have another dog who had this surgery performed successfully elsewhere. Steer clear of this facility.

My expereience with this clinic was horrific & I would tell anyone to run not walk away from VMC of CNY. My pet went in for a scheduled test with a known condition to fine tune meds he was doing remarkedly well on. I was not allowed to be with my pet for test & within just a few minutes the vet advised me that he was in grave condition. No consult prior to test so this vet knew nothing about my pet, his personality, etc nor was I consulted prior to administering meds. Negotiating exhorbitant fee for an overnight stay $2200 I was told my pet was dying. at that time I could see him. My pet died a horrific death in front of me, no vet spoke with me again only presented a bill which I paid to get my pet back to take home to bury. I left hysterical and was walked thru the waiting room of people & pets. Bill in error which I had to call back about to be told clerical error. If you love your pet save yourself the nightmare & pain of this clinic-if you go insist you stay with your pet.

Please do not take your animals to this place! We took our dog there last night after our vet called them to see if we could get him in for a sonogram, they told her for us to bring him right over. We knew that our dog had eaten a mushroom and had all the textbook signs of this. They told us that they didn’t think it was that at all and they should operate to see what was wrong at $2500- $3000. Their sonogram person had mysteriously gone home an hour and a half ago (took us 20 minutes to get there). We had a very uneasy feeling with them. They were cold and only seemed concerned about money. We decided to take our dog to Cornell who told us there was no need or reason at all to have this “exploratory” surgery done. We were at Cornell for many hours, our dog was much better, and it cost much less than the medical center whom accomplished NOTHING.
Today our dog is at home with us playing and happy INSTEAD of recovering from an unnecessary surgery. This place should be investigated!!

I believe these people take advantage of your love for your pet and overcharge you. They wanted me to spend $2500-$3000 for an surgery, right then and there, for a bone fragment in her stomach. Only then did they give me a $1000 option which also not needed. I was there for hours. I spent $495 to take my dog home and put her on a bland diet. I took her to my regular vet who was also concerned they wanted to operate so quickly because of the risk. I put my dog on a bland diet and she was fine in 2 days. Be very careful, they will take advantage and get you to pay the most you can afford because you love your animal. They also charged my account twice for the services, then made me print out my bank statement to prove it. I plan to file a formal complaint with the attorney generals office.

This place could not be any worse. All of their staff lack compassion and only care about money. They prey on the emotions of the pet owner for their own profit. They push one expensive procedure after another without being honest about the alternatives or prognosis. They told me my pet had a 90% chance of survival and conned me into paying $8000 for procedures, they wanted $6000 more but I had had enough. My pet still passed away. They made the loss of my pet a much more painful and difficult experience. When I called to tell them that my cat passed away the receptionist said "oh ok". After spending all the money and three weeks going back and forth to that place, the internal specialist there could not even take the time to call me or write a note sending his condolences after my cat passed. I cannot stress enough to stay away from this place. I wish I had.

Take my advice: drive quickly past this place on your way to Cornell. These guys couldn't diagnose a head cold correctly. If you do go, keep your hands wrapped tightly around your wallet.

What a rip-off! This place operates like a Keystone Kops movie. The estimate for an overnight stay topped $2000! And that was without treatment just a cage and blood work. My dog disappeared in the back for 45 minutes because the doctor couldn't find any help. Tell your vet you won't go here..

Our dog was lethargic & not eating/ drinking. The dog was given IV fluid by Dr. Bruce Ingersoll a painkiller & antibiotic.(That was the ONLY thing he did RIGHT)Dr. Ingersoll wanted to keep the dog overnight catheterize her and check for stones and bladder tumors. For approx.$1,555.00.The plan was to look for stones, catheterize, and was highly concentrated on the bladder. We declined treatment & took the dog to see our vet.AGAINST Dr. Ingersoll's prodding for us to keep her there overnight.(He said it could be FATAL!)The next morning OUR VET did an X-ray.The problem was the dog's BACK. Not the bladder.ALL for $164.00.This was sheer incompetence on Dr. Ingersoll's part. One complete 10 minute exam showed what the dog's problem was & our Vet treated it.I managed an animal clinic & know how the prices & BS talk is, but this was EXTREME even for an EMERGENCY VET.Not only was Dr. Ingersoll on the COMPLETELY WRONG track, he would have put our dog through unnecessary processes.

The only good thing about this office is that they are open 24/7. I have tried to get a hold of a person there for 2 weeks now, and she has failed to return my (important) message. Very unprofessional.
