for them to care for my dog they had to vaccinate her for rabies. my dog was already vaccinated for rabies. vaccinated means they are covered against getting the disease. what's with all these shots?

Some staff seem great, some on the other hand are only trying to get you to spend more money. Vets can't read x-rays and must send out for result (more $). When they say x-rays will be needed ($300) they don't say each picture we take is another fee ($170 per picture). so they should say, the actual price. They over charge for a 10 minute I.V. under the skin (subcutaneous fluids) another $80. They charge a hell of a lot for pills. 6-32 dollars each. they say there is a dispensing fee. So silly how much they charge. This place is horrible and unless it's an emergency i would find another location. They take advantage of you based on your compassion for you animal and are willing to let you leave when the price is so outlandish instead of reasonably pricing the service so it is affordable. I should not have to spend a weeks pay for a 2 hour duration visit receiving some fluids, meds and and an x-ray.

Barrydowne Animal Hospital has been under new ownership for a few years now- since the negative ratings on this site were added. I moved my pets files over to Barrydowne Animal Hospital in order to follow the BEST VETS my pets have ever had in all the decades I have had pets. I was first introduced to the owners, Andrea and Lisa, when they first starting practicing animal care thru Walden Animal Clinic in Lively (excellent BTW!). I followed them for continuity of care for my now aging dog-- but mainly because I have been routinely talked out of expensive procedures over the years. Its astonishing what a good vet can tell you based on a through physical exam--- rather than ordering blood work or x-rays or other procedures. I had become used to vets playing on my emotions to up the bill-- the approach of these 2 vets is decidedly different from the money-grubbing pack who often play into the clients ignorance and guilt. I highly recommend anyone to Barrydowne. Excellent care!

I did not trust the opinion of the veterinarian who treated my dog. I felt that their opinion was based on money alone. They spent more time generating a quote than evaluating my dog. After handing me a large bill for a short appointment and some antibiotics, I realized I had another question, which the vet *did* come back to answer - however after she responded, I was curtly dismissed with the reason "OK, I have to go see other patients now." That left such a bad feeling, and I would not recommend this clinic.

I have found that that they were not truthful in the actions that could be taken in order to assist my dog. My dog had an apparent obstruction as he had not had a bowel movement in quite some days as well as vomiting quite frequently. When I had asked if an ultrasound could be taken the veterinarian had told me that no such procedure could be done in Sudbury. I later found out that this was not true. It left me a bitter taste in my mouth whenever further action had to be considered knowing this as it seemed that the care of the animal was not made priority over the monetary value.

This clinic is a great, plain & simple. Don't see how anyone would rate "horrid", unless you want everything free in life. I trust them fully with my 2 cats.

completely disagree i have never been happier with a vet office than i have been with barrydowne. they always fit me in when there is an emerge, their prices are ok (for sudbury) and the staff genuinely care and are so compassionate.
