Dr Ashdown and staff are great! I felt like I had all the time I needed to ask questions and talk about my options for my sick cat. He has been ill for a while, and seems to be on the mend after starting some medications prescribed by Dr Ashdown. It may not be the cheapest clinic in town, but the quality of service I received last week more than make up for cost by far, we even got a phone call the next day to make sure we could give the pills ok! I strongly recommend this clinic to all of my friends and family, and anyone who wants a vet that truly cares about their pets!

I took my dog there to get 5 porcupine quills out of the very end of his nose. He didn't need sedation or a full physical, but got the latter anyway before I was told he'd need sedation. I wasn't willing to pay this for 5 simple quills so I left. They charged me over $100 anyway for the physical that I didn't want and hadn't asked for. I then went to the Almonte Animal Hospital and they got all quills out in 3 minutes, with no physical, no sedation, no charge other than requesting a $16 donation to a local charity. I will not be back to the Beckwith Animal Hospital any time soon. They seem more interested in money than animals.

Just a warning if you are looking for a vet...don't choose this one...I was told my 8 month puppy had a torn acl ligament and the surgury to repair would be $4K...after a 2nd opinion and shopping around for other quotes ..the first vet I saw after an hour spent with my pup and I told me that Surery was definetly not required, it was just a weak/pulled acl and surgery wasnt' even an option ...just some quiet time and some glycosomine. WHAT?? I was was furious..I could have almost had this dog destroyed due to the fact I couldn't afford the surgery and wasn't given any other options like this other vet who had many options if it had been a torn ACL...I really like the staff at Beckwith Animal they are wonderful but am now transferring my files to this other vet due to Dr.Halls incompetency. It's very unfortunate.
