I brought my cat there for radio-iodine treatment to cure hyperthyroidism. It was over an hour drive down the NJ Turnpike, but there really wasn't much of a choice where to go for this procedure. They required many tests before "ok ing" her for the treatment for a grand total that exceeded $2,000. I insisted they stick with their upfront estimate after the bill was even higher than expected. The place was new and clean and everyone seemed pleasant and professional. This was in 2012 and unfortunately the cat never bounced back and in another 18 months she died from something else. But I would recommend them for specialty veterinary treatments.

Pad the bill must be their motto!!! We brought our cat in for an issue, knowing that it was an emergency I expected the bill to be higher than normal. The vet wanted to do over $1,400 worth of unneeded tests. When we took the cat to our vet, our vet agreed that the tests were unneeded. Only go to them if you have no other option!!

It's tough when the pet you love more than anything in the world is sick, but ask the cost of every single procedure from start to finish. It's ashame but you will end up potentially paying so much more than you than you were quoted . The care is good. Thier accountant is the worst . She has no clue and will fight you for your money when you are in a weakened state from a very sick pet . It's not a nice thing to do. I don't recommend that anyone go there for thier lack of compassion. Its mean

This place was decent before they expanded. Now it is all about money and the compassion level has dropped significantly. And if you voice a complaint, you will be told they 'understand' but then are pushed off and ignored. Tests and procedures are done without your approval. The new facilities are beautiful, but that's what you're paying for, as the compassion and quality care has gone out the window.

This is a great facility. I have needed their service several times and my feelings about them haven't only gotten better. For an animal hospital their prices are excellent, the staff is both knowledgeable and very caring. As for punctuality, it depends on the night. It is an emergency facility so one never knows how long the wait will be. I will say, though, if there is a wait it is because another animal is in worse shape than yours. The facility is clean and really nice. If I have to write a negative I would say their seats could be more comfortable in both the waiting room and the exam room. (this is something I can overlook when my pets need their care)

I only made one visit to Northstar before my dear pet passed away, but I had such a favorable impression that I must post here. The staff were wonderful, and Dr. Doolen is a very caring, and careful vet. I travelled rather far to reach Northstar due to a bad experience at my regular veterinary hospital. If my little one were still around, I'd be making that long run again and again, happy with the level of care given at Northstar.
