My dogs had gotten out tonight and a kind neighbor found them walking around and brought them in. When they got a hold of me, they had already taken the dogs in to Petsurg to scan them for their microchips. I gave my neighbors my address and they said the vet wouldn't release the dogs to them anymore even to bring them home to me.
I came to get them and was forced to wait over an hour for them. I asked to have my beagle's glands expressed since we were already there. I went to pay (what is normally $10-$15) and Dr. Jones told me it would be $95. I was floored. WHAT FOR?!?! Oh - the exams that I did on them. I NEVER CONSENTED to ANY EXAMS!!! Seriously - there was no one else there in the waiting room - she basically took me for a ride. UNREAL.
Not only that - this was the WORST smelling vet office I have ever been in. It reeked of urine.

PETSURG is a surgical referral hospital for dogs and cats in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area of San Diego. We do surgery and related procedures from 8 am to 6 pm and treat emergencies during the hours your veterinarian is unavailable. Referral surgery means your veterinarian wants your pet to have surgery by a surgeon who is familiar with procedures they don't choose to do themselves. Example surgeries may be bone surgery, airway surgery, or liver surgery. ER4PETS is a 24 hour emergency service at the hospital. The emergency service cares for pets after surgery if they don't go home or return to their regular veterinarian.
How is PETSURG & ER4PETS different from our regular veterinarian?
We only do surgery and emergency treatment. Our service is to complement the care you receive from your veterinarian. We provide intensive round-the-clock care when necessary. Pets can stay as long as necessary even on weekends or holidays.
