Click to report rating    12/1/18   5     5     5     5   I have been bringing my cat here for the past year and a half since I moved to Toronto. I researched as best I could and landed at the Don Valley Animal Hospital. I am very happy with the treatment my cat has received and by the kind and gentle care provided from the reception to my cat's vet, Dr. Ferenc. My cat had dental surgery in 2017 and a couple bouts of a resistant cold virus in the past year. The quality of care and the sincerity from this team of professionals is exceptional. I highly recommend this animal hospital and Dr. Ferenc as a veterinarian. RID: 67071
Click to report rating    1/4/18   1     3     1     1   I'll never take my pets here again. All they care about is the money they're making off you. I've brought my pets here 2x, one of them 3x because its close and I honestly never left happy. Most recently I rushed my cat here and was told he had a blocked urinary tract and that he needed immediate care. I was pushed to make a decision on the spot and told it would be around $1000 for treatment. Total cost after 2 days is $1700 and I will likely have to take him somewhere else for proper care. This is only for meds, bloodwrk, and the insertion of a catheter 2x (theres no overnight staff and the catheter "somehow came out" while nobody was there). Because of this, my cat got blocked again and the entire process had to be started again (including all of the costs) I expressed my unhappiness and was told that they made some adjustments for me. This was $40, but I also had to buy special food which negates the "discount" I was given. Only 1 receptionist deserves 5 stars, 0 for everyone else! RID: 65308
Click to report rating    2/17/17   5     4     5     4   I have been a client of Don Valley Vet for more than 20 years. Medical and compassionate care for my animals has been excellent over the years. Any issues that I may ask about such as billing or treatment are promptly and honestly answered. The staff is consistently eager to help. RID: 62714
Click to report rating    7/21/16   5     5     5     5   I have used this vet clinic for many years and have always found it to be excellent. The staff are efficient, thoughtful and respectful. The vets are fabulous very knowledgeable, kind and respectful of owners and pets. I always receive phone calls to check on my pets or provide follow up. I highly recommend Don Valley Animal Hospital. Click to report rating    4/4/16   4     4     4     1   I've called for quotes on getting various procedures done here as it's the closest vet to me. Prices are insane. 3 to 3.5 times higher than other vets for simple issues like deworming or vaccinations. I stopped calling when a $25 medication was going to cost me $212 by going to this vet. Click to report rating    12/20/15   5     4     5     4   We brought 8 cats over 8 years to Andre and the wonderful staff at the Don Valley Animal Hospital. It started with having a conversation with Andre about our diabetic cat. I was so impressed we switched to his clinic a few days later. Andre helped our diabetic cat Judy go into a remission from her diabetes. He saw two of our cats through 3 different types of feline cancer and also diagnosed and helped us treat different behavioral problems with other cats we have now. The issue with veterinary care and cash can be very hard for most people to understand especially if they don't have much experience with pets but I assure you while the Don Valley Animal Hospital is not the least pricey clinic in the GTA it's neither the most expensive AND more importantly, Andre is brilliant! Ask questions if something doesn't make sense. We found he was very happy to explain things to us that we didn't understand. RID: 59311
Click to report rating    1/24/15   2     3     2     2   I honestly don't know how this clinic manages. The way Dr. Francoeur treats his staff is atrocious. I feel particularly sorry for the 2 girls who were working the reception desk, the last time I was in there. They work very hard, and seem to be grossly under-appreciated. Many times I and other clients leave the exam room, with absolutely no idea what we are paying for, or what treatments he does in the back room. His explanations of what is going on with an animal are all over the place, and difficult to follow. Sometimes, he makes absolutely no sense. I feel like I have no say in the treatments he wants to perform, and that I can't say "no". Poor bedside manner, poor client communication, and very little sympathy. If you have cost concerns, he doesn't want to deal with you. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. AVOID AVOID AVOID. RID: 55605
Click to report rating    8/31/14   5     3     5     5   Andre and his staff were very kind and knowledgable about my guinea pig. I found Andre to be a very loving ,smart and sweet vet who has a love for animals. He performed surgery on her and did not go over what he had quoted me for the cost.Allof them were great and I would definitely recommend this vet .      8/21/14   3     2     3     2   Interesting posts!I would have to agree with the last one. I to have been a client for a while now. It is convenient and close to me, so I stay. At times I have found the vets to be less than caring, rushed and sometimes the explanations given by Andre are so confusing and round about, I have to ask his staff to explain what is happening. Not all the time. There are of course positive moments and a trusting relationship. For the most part I agree...Excellent interaction and support from the other support staff. Shana is great, very kind and gentle mannered. I do agree that Susan could perhaps try to be a bit more welcoming. Sometimes I think she is a bit stand offish and treats her co workers very poorly. As a client, I think it is very inappropriate for even me to pick up on this. Overall this is a decent clinic worth checking out, but it is not for everyone. Could use some work, but for the most part everyone does their part to make the experience as good as it can be. RID: 53193
Click to report rating    8/19/14   3     2     3     2   I have been a long term client at this clinic. Overall I have never been all that impressed with the veterinary care, prices or constant turn over of veterinarians. However there is one consistent team member, Shana, who goes above and beyond when ever I, or my animals are in. She is amazing and consistent, and one of the reasons I stay with this practice. Another more recent employee, Joanna, brings with her the same confidence. Thank god for Andre's committed support staff....new and old...with out which I think this practice would no longer exist. Watch out for Susan. She has the ability to bring down the entire room when she enters it....I am sure she gets along well with the animals, but I think there is a reason they keep her in the back. Overall, the Don Valley Animal hospital has a relaxed environment, which I appreciate, facilities can use some work, but it is a small and limited practice. I have been able to pick up my animals after hours. so I can't complain about the hours RID: 53137
Click to report rating    12/29/12   3     2     2     2   Their groomer is good, and one or two of the desk staff are great, but in general I would never recommend this clinic. I took my 4 year old dog here when I moved into the area on the receommendation of a friend. Andre recommended that we treat her recurring ear infection with steroids and that I buy the food he sells. After 6-7 months and almost $1000 paid to this clinic the ear infection that had always come and gone only in one ear was now chronic in both ears. When I confronted Andre with this saying that steroids and his food made it worse not better his answer was "dont shoot the messenger" and suggested we perform a surgery to cut open her ear canal. Even the staff have admitted his bedside manner is terrible. I left this clinic and found a vet who diagnosed my dog w food allergies, and without any extra medications, steroids or enthusiastically suggesting surgery (which should always be a LAST resort). I would never go back here. RID: 39284
Click to report rating    12/14/12   4     2     4     2   Andre is not very compassionate or sensitive to the feelings of pet owners. His staff members are nice and polite, but Andre is not personable or genuine in his concern about my pets. I am very disappointed with the services of this practice as well as the cramped space of the office. RID: 39074

Click to report rating    4/28/12   5     5     5     5   I adopted my nine mos old Border Collie mix almost two years ago and the experience was devestating. Stella was scared of her own shadow and I had been lied to about her level of training. She peed and deficated in the house everyday when I left and destroyed everything she could. I sunk into a depression that almost cost me my job. However, I have never given up on anything or anyone in my life so I hired a behaviorist. My previous vet refused to administer an anti anxiety drug to my dog unless I payed her friend $600/hr to say my dog needed to be sedated in order to work on her behavior mods. Then by some miracle I met Dr. Andre and that night my life changed from chaos and confinement to hopeful and informative. He took Stella's history and only informed he was vet after he recognized my dire situation. Ever since I met Andre two months ago, I have modified my behavior in order to help modify my Stella's. Our home is free of turbulance and misery. Stella is working hard with me. RID: 33840
Click to report rating    2/27/12   5     5     5     5   Words cannot describe how incredibly amazing it is to find a business and crew that cares so much about animals. Even without living in the area and with no car, I make it a point to return evey year with my 4 cats. Dr. Francoeuer (hope i spelled that right) raises the bar being a vet. Medication is always his last resort and no matter how many war wounds he gets, from my one cat alone, it never dampens his commitment. His passion can also be easily felt through the entire staff. You cannot go wrong with trusting this staff with your furry loved ones. RID: 32514

Click to report rating    2/3/12   5     4     5     4   I had my puppy spayed at this clinic. I did the research thinking I can find a better price then what I was quoted. I am so glad I decided to take her here even though it is a little more expensive. They did testing to make she she was healthy enough for the surgery and took amazing care of her overnight so they can monitor her stitches the next day. They also provide pain medication and a follow up visit to make sure everything is healing. After what should have been a traumatic thing for my dog the staff are still greeted with a happy, tail-wagging dog. Thank you Dr. Megan and staff! RID: 31994
Click to report rating    7/5/11   5     5     5     5   I have taken both my dogs to Don Valley Animal Hospital. The staff really care about pets. Each of my dogs had health issues and excellent and thoughtful care was provided by Dr. A. Francoeur who strives to provide optimal and advanced care for pets. The staff are very supportive and always have time to discuss and explain care to you. I especially want to commend them for the wonderful support that was given to me when my dog became critically ill and the staff stayed overtime and took my dog as I followed them by car to a veterinary intensive care facility. They went out of their way to help me. There is nothing negative I could say about Don Valley Animal Hospital and the dedicated staff working there. I highly recommend this veterinary practice to pet owners. RID: 26022
Click to report rating    10/31/09   4     4     5     3   Dr. Flemming has treated our cats for a few months. We´re happy with her bedside manner (so are the cats who do not like any vets particularly); she seems knowlegeable, is considerate, compassionate & direct. We find the staff to be friendly and helpful. Dr. Flemming has an allopathic approach as far as I can see - have not asked her about other naturpathic and other ...pathics etc. When we have booked appointments have never had to wait long, sometimes the doctor sees us earlier. RID: 15118

Click to report rating    1/7/08   5     5     5     5   Dr. Francoeur is very sympathetic and his staff are very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you may have. RID: 6887
