Click to report rating    7/23/20   1     1     1     1   My dog had an emergency today as he was in breathing distress, it seemed something was stuck in the nose/mouth area. I called immediately to see if they could take me in. They could, so we brought him in, 2 mins later they informed me he was stable and breathing but to have him stay there till 7, to get checked out by a Vet. I asked if I could take him home just in case he becomes better and then bring him to appointment at 7 if symptoms worsened. This was NOT allowed and one of the Vets informed me in a rude manner, they don't have TIME and they're FULLY BOOKED, if you take the dog HOME. Dr. Paige Willis told me. Are they that money hungry they rather charge me for an appointment if my dog were to become better? There was no reason I couldn't take him home and bring him back to the Veterinary Clinic. What if he was to become in better health? I ended up taking the dog out of clinic. If you do not have time for a animal, don't tell a client they can come in. RID: 69421
Click to report rating    12/5/17   3     2     3     1   Took my dog to this clinic after 2 days of vomiting and not eating food. They did an exam, blood test, and prescribed anti-vomiting medication. The next day her symptoms worsened so we took her back right away. The vet who saw us the day before was not working so we were seen by a different vet. She did an exam and no other testing (total time with vet was less than 5min). No new meds were needed and still charged us full exam fee!! I was shocked! We only went back because her symptoms worsened and not due to a new illness! If the previous vet was there I doubt he would have charged us again. When I complained about it to the receptionist she said it's up to the vet to decide whether or not to charge a fee. This clinic is all about money and I will not be returning! RID: 65155
Click to report rating    11/3/17   1     1     1     1   I lost two dogs to this clinic. The first was tested for diabetes which they said he did not. Only to find out two months later he did have diabetes but only after he lost his sight and almost lost him. Then they charged my thousands literally in tests and " mandatory " glucose tests they insisted he had to stay for. After kennelling him they proceeded to tell us they did not provide his insulin ( which they insisted he needs every twelve hours because he wouldn't eat). This dog would eat his right paw if you don't feed him !!! Unacceptable. Then they diagnosed my second dog with the same ailment but refused to provide insulin unless we pay the 600$ for the overnight every six month testing for glucose. After admitting they themselves aren't even there to give and didn't give it to my other dog! They only care about money obviously. As I went elsewhere and not once did they ask about my dogs. The ones they took over 6000in Care for only to send me a birthday card AFTER she died RID: 64987
Click to report rating    7/4/16   1     1     1     1   Do not take your pet to this place. They killed my cat because of simple not listening to the problem symptoms. Their focus was test upon test to spend my money finding nothing. After spending $1000+ for all sorts of unnecessary tests, and three weeks of no-diagnosis he had to be put down because he was too weak. This was for a simple problem with Gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn) that was allowed to get worse because of inaction and inappropriate tests such as x-ray. They simply do not have the equipment to do a throat exam and wasted time/effort elsewhere. The problem is easily correctable, with diet and medicine. But their refusal to listen to his symptoms, administer the medication, and giving feeding instructions contrary to his condition resulted in him not making it. He was diagnosed elsewhere but didn't make it. RID: 61025
Click to report rating    7/4/16   5     5     5     5   My sincere thanks to the compassionate and kind staff who supported me in saying goodbye to my beloved Bailey. They made things gentle kind and easy for all of us. It makes a difference and you did. RID: 61024
Click to report rating    6/13/16   1     4     4     1   The vet that checked our cat told us they didn't know how many calories a cat should eat per day (they MUST learn this at vet school?), and then tried to pitch us the food they sold (Royal Canin, which is garbage). I didn't mind paying $130 per annual visit, but to not be given basic health information for a cat was ridiculous. RID: 60835
Click to report rating    5/14/16   1     4     4     3   I will NOT bring my cat to this clinic again. The simple procedure of cutting nails ended up with nails being cut off at the very base, literally leaving cat without nails (I hope they will grow with time) with lumps of dried up blood. I consider it to be a torture, and would never expect it to be done in a veterinary clinic. I was in shock when I realized what was done to my cat. RID: 60593
Click to report rating    2/26/15   1     3     1     1   I took my bullmastiff pup in to have her fixed and to get gastropexy to avoid her stomach from flipping. This cost me over $1000. They kept her overnight. The next day as soon as I brought her home I noticed big holes in the incision area. I needed to take her right back so they could add extra staples, I can't believe that they didn't check the incision before sending her home and the poor thing needed to be stapled while awake. Long story short, because she has such a large, deep, chest, the area wasn't healing as there was to much pull on the staples. Weeks later the vet changed some of the staples to sutures and told me that this is why it wasn't healing. As a vet, why didn't you think of this during surgery? Her healing time took over a month because of this! Then when I took her in to have the remaining sutures and staples removed they left one staple in! I noticed it a few days later when giving her a bath! Never again will I take any pet there! RID: 56040
Click to report rating    10/5/13   5     5     5     5   I would not go to another clinic ever. My pets have been patients of this clinic for over 30 years. My primary veterinarian has retired, but I have had the privilege to meet most of the other vets when my vet was on holiday. The fact they consult each other to maximize patient care is commendable, as each has a special therapy interest in addition to their general veterinary care. The front desk staff and vet techs are friendly, competent and obviously care for their patients and their humans. Those who have followed my recommendation and taken their pets here for care have been impressed as well. This is a very special place. RID: 47419
Click to report rating    8/27/13   3     3     3     1   Stay away from this place (and get a second opinion) unless you want to your wallet emptied. 7 years ago we brought in our new pug (to Greenbank Animal Hospital) and immediatley felt as though we were being scammed. We were told that our pug should be returned (unless we wanted to spend more money due to his many health problems). Of course the vet knew we weren't going to bring him back! If we kept him, our pug would 100% need surgery on his joints and his nose (because pugs as you know have a flat nose and have joint problems). He had breathing problems. So any procedures would require extra nurses/care (and much more money).... You name it our pug would require extra attention (should we want to keep him). Naturally, we were quite distraught. Long story short we (sought a second opinion) kept the pug (and 7 years later he still loves to run and fetch which for a pug is unusual)-- not bad for a pug requiring so much extra expensive care due to his so-called health issues. Click to report rating    8/10/13   5     5     5     5   Every member of Greenbank Animal Hospital were so good to me when I had to put my beloved Macy down over a year ago! Then when I got a new puppy and took her for her shots they were so good to her, the examination was flawless, Abby didn't even know she had been given her shot :) They absolutely adored her! It was hard for us to leave LOL. She's been back since then for her spay and microchip and the doctor and technical staff put my mind at ease about the procedure and everything went off without a hitch. The after care was amazing too! I was very impressed with everything and being a dog owner for over 40 years, this is one Hospital I can surely say has far exceeded my expectations! Thank you everyone at Greenbank Animal Hospital! You guys are all great!!! RID: 46202
Click to report rating    4/21/13   3     3     3     3   Why do clinics like this feel the need to charge for a prescription slip after you have just paid for an exam & shots . This is a money grab they don't want you to pay 40.00 less for Revolution on line instead if they charge you for. Script you might decide to buy fom them at a much higher price . I thought the animals best interest was the concern but its sad the bottom line is business not compassion I'm glad people doctors aren't greedy & still have patients 1st there is no excuse for this none . Click to report rating    12/11/12   2     3     1     1   They misdiagnosed our black lab and she ended up dying..Our one dog has diabetis and we get our insulin from there all the time and they always have our other dogs name on it..They can't get it right and they did the diagnosis very disappointed in this place. RID: 38995
Click to report rating    9/27/11   5     4     5     5   Excellent pragmatic and caring approach to treating animals. We had incurred significant costs (over $1,00) at another clinic in Barrhaven and the problem was then diagnosed and treated at Greenbank for under $100. Agree diagnostic tests are not used as a cash grab unlike the other clinic in Barrhaven. RID: 27919
Click to report rating    9/24/11   5     4     4     5   Greenbank's Dr Shibata has treated our 2, then 3, then 4 dogs for several years. She is very competent, honest, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The staff know their stuff too. People and pets are treated very well, and the cost is very reasonable, especially in comparison with some other vet clinics in Ottawa. Greenbank does lab tests as needed, not as a routine source of vet income. RID: 27856
