I took our newly adopted cat to VCA because she had already been there before. Another family had adopted her took her to VCA and returned the cat to the shelter shortly after. I asked the vet what issues the cat had been diagnosed with before, and she told me "if you want a healthy cat, this is not the pet for you,she has allergies". She did not elaborate why. She said to give her Zyrtec if we intended to keep her. We did not take our cat back to the shelter. We kept her, gave her Zytrec and 6 months later, her teeth began to fall out. 10 months after we got her, she was diagnosed with stomatitis, an autoimmune disorder that attacks her teeth and makes her gums inflamed. Had that vet told us this, our cat would not have suffered, we could have got her treated right away. She was in pain for 10 months! Needless to say I will never take her there again. Stomatitis is more than a simple "allergy". They knew this cat's history and did not elaborate for her proper care.

Just one day ago I would have given this place 5+ stars. Dr. Shirley Russman is truly the most amazing vet I have ever met.
I've fallen on hard times. But I've started to make a little money now. VCA closed my account and will not allow me to bring my animals in, even though I have cash and am willing to pay up front.
My cat is dying. I need to put him down. And now, I have to go to a stranger and do it because once you get sideways with VCA you can never come back. Cold hearted B*******s

I've taken my dog to VAC twice for an emergency, and seen Dr. James Cellini both times. The front desk woman is friendly, the techs are nice and comforting and Dr. Cellini is knowledgeable and caring. He doesn't rush you, and takes his time looking at all possibilities and doesn't recommend unnecessary services. If you take your pet there before 7:00pm you only pay regular prices. After 7:00pm the prices go up and the visit is treated at emergency rates.

We've taken all three of our dogs to Dr. Nolan and/or Dr. Hopkins... and they have always bent over backwards to provide superior care for our pups. Yes... this place is expensive, but the caring and compassion shown by these individuals (and the staff, too) keeps us coming back. They consistently educate us regarding the health and well-being of our pets. They also give us several care options when balancing our dogs' quality of life against the capacity of our wallets (or lack thereof)... and never push anything on us. For example, instead of putting our aging GSP on medication for arthritis, Dr. Nolan suggested a change to Science Diet j/d. It was like we had a young dog again... and it certainly made her last year and a half with us much more comfortable. Thanks Dr. Nolan and Dr. Hopkins! You are the best!

Avoid this place. I took two puppies there who suddenly had trouble moving their rear legs. They took x-rays and told me they both needed their hips replaced. (Huge $$$) I contacted the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals who told me there is NO way anyone could tell that at such a young age. Subsequently the pups were diagnosed with spinal menengitis at a different emergency clinic. Thank God we got them somewhere else before they both died.

Avoid them. Their main concern is money. Just before our dog was diagnosed with diabetes, my wife took her in for an examination. The “vet” said the dog was depressed and charger her $300. When I got home, we returned, demanded and got our money back. The manager tried intimidation and brought in the “vet” to confront us. It didn’t work. Even though he wasn’t a duck, he was still a quack.

I took my very sick dog there on a Sunday, we waited over 2 hours in the waiting room. It turn out she had been poisioned. If I had gotten attention sooner they might have been able to save her. She died and I still ended up with a huge vet bill. I won't go back.

My daughter was caring for my african grey and the grey got sick. I was out of town and told her to take the bird here, as we used to see this vet for it's regular care. They refused to look at the bird because we had no appointment, they told my daughter to go all the way across town to a vet we had never been to. The bird died on the way. The particular vet we used to see was there and available which is the bad thing. Yeah, I got a call after I complained from the owner that he was so sorry they messed up. This is the worst and most overpriced place we ever went to--stay away.

I didn't know any better and I put my guinea pig in with my angora rabbit for a short time during transitional housing. Anyway, my VERY friendly g.pig groomed the rabbit and got a furball which he couldn't cough up. He lost significant amounts of weight over the next two days and I realized he wasn't eating. I took him into VCA and they did some sub-q shots of vitamin C and charged me $180 for their "services". They recommended him staying overnight for more shots. I agreed and when I got him home the next day I noticed these little bug things on him. I was 18 and didn't know what fleas looked like. He had picked up FLEAS during the VCA overnight clinic stay. I put him in a different cage at home but it was still in the same room as the other g.pigs. He died 2 days later. Then slowly over the next week the other 5 died all from the fleas the original g.pig contracted at the VCA!! The VCA Animal Hospital couldn't pay ME to take any of my animals there EVER again.

I've been going to this vet for two years. I am extremely unhappy with them. Whenever I go in for routine annual exams, they push extra (and costly!) services that my dog does not need. The one time my dog was sick (vomiting, diarrhea), I had to sit in the waiting room with him for over three hours. When a vet finally took a look at him, she left and returned with $900 worth of treatment she wanted to do that included x-rays, an overnight stay, an IV, medicine, blood work, stool sample testing, etc. We had no discussed any of this beforehand, but I had told her that I knew for a fact he had not eaten anything poisonous or indigestable for at least three days because he had been in my presence non-stop over the weekend. I talked her down to treatment that cost $120. I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman while there. Also, they will not let you see your dog being treated, even if it is just a shot. You have to wait in the waiting room while they take your dog.
