Dr. Harry and his staff make this a good place for us to take our cat and dog. Dr Harry answers questions completely. We had invaluable help when we needed help with an insurance. claim.

One of the worst, unkept, and unsanitary vet clinics I have ever WORKED in. Dr. Harry and Gurmeet are horrible doctors. Please do not go here and do not believe the ratings on this site about this clinic.

Best veterinary clinic in town. Dr Harry performed emergency surgery on my cat. I am amazed by his surgical skills. The surgery site healed perfectly well and my cat is back to normal. The charges are very reasonable compared to other clinics.I would continue to take my pets there. 5 stars.Highly recommended !

The Best Care for my pets so far! I have taken my animals to other area veterinary clinics over the last decade, but none compare to the consistently high standard of care and concern that I have experienced at the Hemlock Animal Hospital. The Dr's and the Veterinary Assistants have spent time researching alternative foods and medicines for my animals.. providing me with multiple choices when possible. They also understand that cost is a consideration and that most people don't have unlimited funds. If that isn't enough, they actually care about the animals and their quality of life. It is Very common to receive phone calls from the Drs, checking on my pets and the progress of any treatment and inquiring about their comfort. They do understand that many people regard their pets as family members and are respectful of that. I highly recommend this group of Caring Professionals.

We purchased a kitten from Dr Harry and within days he became ill. We returned the kitten for treatment. Dr Harry kept him in the clinic for over two weeks and when the treatment was complete we were presented with a $3,000 bill. We were assured by Dr Harry that this would be covered by the insurance that he offered us from Petsecure. Coverage was denied due to errors made by his staff, yet he refused to take any responsibility for the mistakes, telling us that it was our problem and that it’s the “cost of doing business”. After several unpleasant arguments, he reluctantly agreed to provide partial compensation in the form of pet food and future services. Having no alternative, we accepted some pet food but after a few months he informed us that he was terminating the arrangement. It was a very distressing experience. We simply wanted and expected him to take responsibility for his staff’s mistakes, and to compensate us accordingly. Needlessly to say, we do not recommend this clinic.

I have to admit that I mostly chose Hemlock because it is literally 2 blocks from my house, and I own a car-phobic kitty. We moved to Canada from Seattle a little over a year ago (that was a fun car adventure - ugh), and he was overdue for some vaccinations and a check-up.
However, I am very pleased with the service that I received there. I found the staff to be very kind and personable. It was very easy to book an appointment in a quick time frame. Their services are affordable and reasonable. They doted on my terrified kitty.
During my first appointment, we met with Dr.Harry, who I found to be thorough and knowledgeable. He mentioned a few options for vaccinations and routine tests and was very up front about their pros, cons, costs and necessity for an indoor condo-dweller cat. At the follow-up, we met with a vet tech who was incredibly lovely.
I'm glad that I feel so comfortable and I'm confident that they'll continue to take good care of my best buddy.

My cat has vaccinations and general check there today. Overall experience was great: staff was nice, professional and caring. Prices are affordable and not too bad at all. They are open until 8 pm , which is great. We will definitely come back.

Incredible! They helped me with my outdoor cat that we found (well he found us), and provided me with reassurance that we were able to help him with his injury in the right way. They got us in last minute with a second injury, and have been so kind and gentle each time we have gone in. Wouldn't go anywhere else!!

I have been taking my two dogs to this clinic for the last 3 years.i am always amazed with professional services provided by the staff and Drs. I always get a follow up call next day that makes my day as I never get a call from my family doctor. The reasonable prices and long hours are an added benefit .i highly recommend this clinic.

This is the best animal hospital in Vancouver. The staff is amazing. You get calls to check up after appointments and the vet himself calls you to talk about your pets' care and needs. They saved my dogs life by doing emergency surgery and took ball stuck in his stomach. I took my dog to Burrard Animal Hospital who not only overcharged me but could not diagnose even I don't have enough words to say how great this place is. Highly Recommended!

I've been going to Hemlock Animal Hospital for several years now and couldn't be happier with their service and professionalism. The friendly and attentive staff went above and beyond to help my sick cat and it certainly paid dividends in his health and happiness. Dr.Harry is knowledgeable, professional and caring. I highly recommend HAH for all your veterinary needs. Truly amazing service at a reasonable price. Thank you for everything!!!

prices may be cheap, but still not worth it. dr. harry is extremely rough when handling my dog, and has given me wrong diagnoses more than once. he also speaks with a condescending tone when you ask questions, as if you were stupid for asking. he can definitely be quite rude. dr. gurmeet (i believe his wife) is more friendly and is definitely more gentle and compassionate with animals. however, she was not able to answer my questions as she said dr. harry may be able to provide a more confirmed answer. the front staff are friendly, however they accepted a walk-in before my scheduled appointment which defeats the purpose of making an appointment. the exam fee may be cheaper than the usual vet clinic at $25, but i feel they add unnecessary processes and additional expenses to make up for it.

Hemlock Animal Hospital is a great clinic. Dr. Harry and his staff really strive to make pets and their families comfortable. They care for their patients as if they were their own, and they have always gone the extra mile to ensure my pets are cared for. I find that many vets are unavailable after hours, but Dr. Harry is very caring and does take calls after hours if an emergency comes up, which is great. This clinic also has very accommodating hours, and is open 7 days a week, until 9pm. I've always been happy with the service at Hemlock, and I will continue to bring my pets here for top quality care.

Best animal care in Vancouver to get exceptional service they provide.I researched and came across this hospital after being disapppointed with many vets.I was very pleased with the services provided. The staff is very caring, professional, knowledgeable and the Vets are the best I have seen in the long time. They walk you through and inform you through entire Physical exam. and treat you are part of it just as much they are.I drive all the way from North Vancouver to see them and will continue to do so for the years to come.

Dr Harry takes unnecessary risks at the cost of the patient and the client and makes unnecessary mistakes. He is inexperienced in the field of surgery. He is the only vet in the clinic and works all hours and some overtime. He makes use of numerous assistants who are young and unqualified in any veterinary service. He might be compassionate towards clients but that does not save the lives of his patients. He can be untruthful about the real facts to benefit himself. I am very regretful for sending my pet there and for all the unnecessary trauma he experienced.

I adopted a cat from this clinic on a Friday evening. We brought the little guy home and he slept most of the first two days. On the Saturday morning I noticed the kitty had problems breathing. He had very low energy. I called Hemlock that morning to express my concern for the little guy. I was told by Dr. Harry that he was just a docile cat and give him a few days. I didn't feel like my concern was addressed at all. On Tuesday morning I called my regular vet (Cat's Only) and explained what was going on. She had me come in that day to have the kitten looked at. As soon as she listened to his heart she knew something was wrong. We had him x-rayed and discovered that his little heart was too big and he wouldn't make it. I was devestated. Why wouldn't Dr. Harry have checked this cat out first? Why wouldn't he ask me to bring him back in for a check up after my call. I will NEVER bring another animal to this place again. They should be ashamed.

I love the friendly kind service Hemlock Animal Clinic provides. I rated 3 for punctuality but I don't even mind that much as long as I see that the staff and vet sincerely care for animals. One concern I have is their vaccination protocol. In 2003, the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) revised its vaccination guidelines, recommending that vets vaccinate adult dogs only every three years – not annually (http://www.whole-dog-journal.com//iss...) But Hemlock Animal Hospital vet insisted on annual vaccine and said it's cheaper than other places. Dog lovers and other animal lovers read about risks that over vaccination brings to out loving animals. I hope this lovely vet office reconsiders the pratice on vaccination.

Just took my dog here for a teeth cleaning and extraction. I was very happy with the work! She was a rescue and her teeth were in terrible condition but now I can't believe how sparkly and white they are now. Their dental services are an excellent value - all of the work I had done came to about $300 including cleaning, anesthetic, extractions (6 "simple" teeth) and IV fluids etc. I would highly recommend them for this - I took my dog to several places for a quote and Hemlock Animal Hospital was literally hundreds of dollars cheaper than the others. The staff were super friendly and the place was new, clean and nice looking.

I live across the street from this brand new clinic, run by a husband & wife team of Vets. I came home from work to find a very sick dog -****ing blood. My regular vet was on vacation. I decided to give them a try. I am pleased with how it all went. They saw my dog immediately. The Vet went over the options and costs with me. They listened to me when I declined certain tests for the time being and phoned me up before doing an xray. My dog was much better after a few hours with them. The bill seemed reasonable to me for a Vancouver based Vet. By the way, they only charge $25 to examine your dog; so you can at least get an idea of what you are up against in the case of an emergency - plus they are open until 10 pm. They are also both very friendly, nice people. I plan to use them again as my emergency local vet. I hope that they get a lot of business because I want them to stay here. :)
