Click to report rating    4/20/24   3     2     4     2   It's kind of a love hate relationship with the place, but recently I just felt we were being taken advantage of. We brought our dog there for an allergy test a couple months back. Instead of doing that as requested, they convinced my wife it was better to keep the dog on beds and feed him a diet of 140$ a bag dog food that lasts maybe 2 weeks. For 12 weeks they wanted him on the food and meds they said. After about 6 weeks in and zero sign of improvement, I called and requested again to have an allergy test done. They would not comply, they said to keep the dog on the food and mess and he'll clear up. To what end I asked, even if he clears up, we need to know what caused it. They're answer was that they just reccomend keeping him on this food for the rest of his life instead of finding out the cause. Of course you can only get this food from them. They definitely seem to have $$ before care in mind. Allergy test 900, their treatment, 850 so far, 6 weeks to go. We changed vets... RID: 71053
Click to report rating    2/12/22   1     4     3     1   Absolutely horrible experience from Barrie Animal Hospital and Dr Mark Bolton. He advised to remove a small lump from the front paw. Aftera month of total nightmare, we ended up with leg amputating to save the dogs life. I even couldnt imagine how low is Dr Bolton skills! He made the stitches too tight and blocked blood supply to the leg. That is a stupid mistake even for a beginner student! About moral side - All of that required additional visits to change more bondages, open a wound, etc. And they continued to charge me even though it was only the result of their own mistakes. Unbelievable level of greed and avarice and absolutely no morals, no ethics! BEWARE OF THIS HOSPITAL, THE STAFF IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND THEIR MAIN CONCERN IS HOW TO MILK THE MOST MONEY OUT OF YOU AND NOT FOR YOUR PETS OWN GOOD. Please think twice before bringing your pet here! There are a lot of other animal hospitals that are much better and with much more skilled staff. RID: 70239
Click to report rating    1/23/20   1     1     1     1   This vet has killed 2 of our pets through misdiagnosis over the past 22 years. The first was a so called "fat nodule" in Roxi's arm pit. It turned out to be full of poison and when it ruptured she was dead in less than 24 hours. The second was cancer just recently with our boy Leo. I could see the tumor in my boy and when I pointed it out to the Vet he said he could feel nothing wrong nor see anything. We got a different vet on one visit and he decided to do an Xray and found out it was cancer. This was after we had spent about $1500-2000 to keep hearing "oh, your dog is just getting old". We rushed Leo to Guelph univ. to get surgery and put Leo through multiple chemo therapy treatments but Leo will die soon anyway. All because of incompetence of the resident vets. If you want your pet to have substandard care then by all means take them to this vet. If you care about your pet and their health find anywhere else to take them. Two vets...2 cases of incompetence. Click to report rating    2/15/16   2     1     2     2   The place is old and looks outdated. I had no confidence in the vet or the staff. Smelled really bad from the time I walked in. RID: 59789

Click to report rating    2/4/15   5     5     5     5   I have been going to this vet for about 12 yrs. staff is awesome. They are friendly, kind, compassionate and know what the are doing.Dr choles is awesome, he truly cares about your pets well being, gets straight to the point is honest and tells it like it is.I like this clinic as they are not there for your wallet but your pet. They don't make you take unnecessary tests just to get money out of you. For a short time I went to another vet because it was closer, what a nightmare.A bigger nicely decorated vet with 24 hr service is not always better. I took my 2 month old cat there and after 600.00 they told me what it might be. At barrie animal hospital after 15 mins and 110.00 the problem was diagnosed without expensive tests and knowledge. I was told what it was....not what it might be.because of barrie animal my 12 yr old dogs life was extended with compassion and care and because of this I recommend this vet.great service, value, compassion, knowledge friendly.need I say more.
