I don't care what all other posts say about money, if that's your gripe don't own a pet! They saved my best friends life period and I would have paid ANYTHING!!! They treated Hank like he was theirs and called to check in all the time! Remember you get what you pay for! Keep in mind I used to be a vet tech and Hank's surgery was my first visit. I will continue to go there.

I posted a negative review on Far Countr's FB page after an extremely horrible experience. The owner/vet called me at my home to tell me my post was "full of lies". What kind of vet tells you it would cost "millions" to treat your pet?? My belief, like many others I've heard, is that money is the driving force behind this clinic. I also found it highly "co-incidental" that when I opened Far Country's email requesting that I rate "my recent positive experience", my computer's system files were immediately corrupted. Mostly, I will never forget being interrupted (after requesting time alone with my pet following a chaotic and confusing conference with the vet/owner who kept insisting that I didn't trust him because I commented on his pay before service policy) for an additional $295 before putting her down. The initial bill was $557 for X-rays and blood work. I'm still haunted by this visit. It was the worst veterinary experience of my life, and I have had pets my entire life.

Avoid this place like the plague. They do not care about your animal, just about getting your money. The euthanasia of my pet was handled in such an insensitive way that it was mind-boggling. I've used numerous vets over the years and this is the FIRST time I've had bad things to say. Others with whom I've shared my experience told me that they or friends had a similar bad experience with this vet. I was basically made to feel guilty when I declined to have a major surgical procedure done on a dog that was almost 15 years old when my regular vet told me I did the right thing by euthanizing this particular dog.

I have had a couple of experiences with Far Country now and I have to say they are much different than my previous vet in Anchorage. While there is one vet on staff that I do like and she is the only one I will now see, they nickel and dime you to death. I've never paid so much money for unneccessary exams and procedures in my life. They are definitely in this for the money and not the pets. A majority of the staff seem nice, but someone somewhere is pulling on your purse strings tightly at this place. They can be dismissive and presumptuous, which I find to be a disheartening trait in a veterinary clinic.

Most expensive in the valley area, but not care worth that money. Have several vets and there is a definite difference between the quality of care you get from them. A couple of the vets, including the clinic owner, are very breeder unfriendly bordering on hostile. Disrespectful especially when it comes to the knowledge of the pet owner- and dismissive. Have had instances of improper medication that was prescribed as well (like Rimadyl for a PG ****). Pull their own call, but you are going to pay a fortune for it, and not necessarily get care that's worth that fortune.

It is my belief that a person gets what they pay for. This clinic is average priced with most things, cheaper than the other clinics with vaccinations, however they are more expensive with other things (had two emergency surgeries there). I would rather pay the price and get GREAT and personable service than get treated like crap. I've been to most of the other valley clinics. They do not compare to Far Country with their customer service. Far Country is the place to go to get good personable service.

I had a dog fight at 9 PM on a Sunday night, and knew that Far Country was open so I called ahead to let them know that I was on my way with a dog with several lacerations that needed suturing. I was quickly checked in but then had to wait a half hour to see the vet. The vet tech that I dealt with was not overly friendly, and neither was the veterinarian who was working on my case. I was given an estimate for the treatment of my dog, and thank goodness I was, because I took one look at it and decided to take my dog home and wait until the next morning to have his sutures done at my regular veterinarian. The fees quoted to me were excessive ($650 for the LOW estimate for sedation and sutures??? And $1100 for the high estimate? I had it done at my regular vet for $350) and made me question whether this clinic was more interested in my dog or my dollar. Judging from the treatment I received while I was there, I'd have to guess the latter. I do not recommend this hospital.

While I was not impressed with the male vets, I truly believe Dr. Richardson made the last few months of my puppy's life much more pleasant. She always returns my calls and even makes follow-up calls personally. She is a jewel. The office is very expensive, but the technicians and front staff have been wonderful to me and my pets.

I have had numerous visits here and am always treated very well. We changed from another vet in Wasilla after I had to use Far Country because our first vet wasn't available. My problem with the original vet was rude staff, and I was delighted with the staff at Far Country the first time I went. I think they're just fantastic! The hours are great for emergencies and I've never had to wait to get in when my dogs are sick. Dr Collin's detected panosteoitis in our Mal and they helped us through some scary mushroom poisoning. Would definitely recommend them!

Not recommended. The vet was fine but the technicians were inexperienced and inept, and the clinic nickel and dimes you for everything. Though there are some good staff members, whoever OWNS this practice is in it for money, not for the welfare of animals. Next time I would drive to Pet Emergency in Anchorage.

Sometimes our interpretation is due to our stress for our family member. I was referred to Far Country by my vet due to the fact that they were ON CALL. I received prompt service, the facility was clean and the staff, incl. DR Collins, were very caring. I am considering changing to this veterinary facility.

I was very disappointed with the service I recieved from the Docs. The staff, you can tell, really cares for the animals. The docs on the other hand, that is a different story.. You can tell she is afraid of the animals, and have no time to hear what the actual problem is. My dog was diagnosed prior to hearing what my concerns are. They seam to be in the business for the money but not to treat animals. They are so overbooked that they wont talk to the owners while in the office, or call you back after a concern. I highly DO NOT recommend this vet, you can get way better service and for a better price somewhere else. I know that they are running a business, but have a little compassion for the animals and owners.

I understand that a veterinarian's job is to care for animals and empathize with the owners. I did not get this feeling at my last visit.
