Dr Erik is not a knowledgeable vet. He is totally unaware of the normal growth curve of puppies of different breeds - gives horrible advice on this front. Also takes your dog away for vaccination which I've never experienced. Avoid!

I have had my dog under Dr. Erik’s care for many years and have always been so grateful to have such a caring and compassionate vet. His staff, likewise, have always proven knowledgeable, competent and considerate. My beloved pet is no longer with me, and besides missing him greatly, I will miss our visits to Otter Point Veterinary Hospital.

Erik did not listen to the reason we came in with our sick dog and his receptionist was even worse. If you’re looking for prompt and thoughtful pet care I would stay away

Rude rude rude. I had the worst experience here. I've never been treated so badly as I was by the new front desk girl. She is a monster. The vet is a blunt dismissive bully.

I took my old pug to Eric for 7 years, and never had a problem. Suddenly he was rude, and angry, and treated me like an idiot. His new desk woman was insanely rude, and a total bully. They once worked with me (I've spent THOUSANDS there), but suddenly they were doing all sorts of things they didn't tell me about, and I'd walk out spending $350. I don't know what happened to him, but I have a new vet now, far less expensive, very caring, and no stress.

Took my dog here because he was dragging his but on the floor. This vet examined my dog by holding him by the neck, lifting his front legs up off of the table. As my 5 pound dog became combative. My dog was squealing and his tongue was turning blue.I yelled "wth his tongue is blue". I took my dog and held him.The vet says he has to take my dog to the back room to squeeze out his anal glands because that's why he is dragging his but on the floor. In complete shock, I hand him my dog. He takes him to the back room. My dog is screaming so much that my husband has to exit the building.Vet comes back, hands me my dog and says to make another appointment to complete the gland cleaning. We left there shocked and confused at what just happened. My son and daughter in law came to visit. They could not get near or pick up our dog (a normally friendly lap dog) Our dog spent the rest of the day, cowering and shaking. That was our first visit to this vet and our LAST.

Dr. Erik did not "listen" to what I was describing so he missed vital information which caused a second visit to the clinic. He was very rough when handling my cat and in her 7 years and 2 other regular vets, I have never been told she was "Uncooperative" and took 3 staff to take one blood sample. I found the staff to be cold and condescending - not the tech, she was lovely. I found Dr. Eric to be rude and I felt I was rushed out as fast as he could. I left an important message and staff assured me he would call me back. He did not. When I called them in the am, the excuse from the very rude brunette receptionist was he was too busy but he will call me at the end of the day. Thank god my cat was not dying! I will never recommend this vet or this clinic to anyone.

A wonderful and caring Vet! He has great reptile knowledge and cared for my aging iguana until his very last day. Same for birds. He was wonderful with our cockatoo who was a senior. Our dogs adore him, the cat not so much. Staff is helpful and caring. Highly recommend this vet to everyone!

This vets is by far the most amazing one I have ever had the fortune of using. Erik and Laina are both amazing when it comes to my small dog who was born with a deformed elbow and I couldn't ask for more understanding people. They are always upfront about the price and there are never any hidden costs. I know I can rely on these people and would recommend them to anybody in a heartbeat.

Dr. Erik and staff are awesome. I take all my pets here and they actually run to see him, unlike other vets I have used where my dogs won't even get out of the car. They are kind and compassionate people. Good value and thorough in their diagnostics.

Erik is by far the best vet I have ever had. He connects with all of my animals and I have followed him for over 12 years with my dogs, cats and chinchillas. He has performed emergency life saving surgery to save one of my Great Danes and was with our family years later when the same dane passed from osteosarcoma. All of my pets have loved him so much every time they have seen him. He goes over and above with my pets and I would recommend him to everyone. I have even made the drive of over an hour just to see him - he is absolutely worth it! You would be hard pressed to find a better vet.

I have never seen a vet give the care and attention to a pet like Eric at Otter Point does. He really connects with each animal he sees. I have 3 dogs that love him and had 1 cat that we had to put down last summer. He has been a friend to each one of them and to myself. When we put my cat down (of 19 years) he let us sit outside in the sun on his patio furniture while we did it and gave me as much time as I needed with her to say goodbye. That is only one of his acts of kindness that has caused me to call him friend. He goes out of his way to save me money on medication and tests at all times. I have had a lot of vets over the years. I usually don't like vets at all. I've met very few that I have liked. This one is leaps and bounds better than any "good" vet out there. I wish he was a human doctor so I could get that level of care for myself and my family. Oh and his receptionists are great too!

Do not take your pets to this vet. I took my dog there for a spot on his stomach. Dr Wirten took him to the back room. When my dog came out he kept pulling to try to get away from the vet. I was informed the vet tried squeezing the spot to see if it was filled with anything. He then told me it might be a tick or spider bite but may be a tumor. He had me purchase antibiotic cream to use. The meds and the visit cost me $85. After a week the spot never went away. I decided to take my dog to a different vet for a second opinion to find out that this spot wasn't a bite or a tumor. It was one of his nipples!!! Not only did Dr Wirten squeeze and inflame my dog's nipple causing him pain, he charged me for medication I didn't need. Thank goodness I didn't take my dog back there, otherwise he might have had his nipple (the tumor) removed and cost me even more money!
