We have been taking our dogs to Lakewood (Dr Allen) for the last 5 years. The staff is always super nice, helpful, and know what they are talking about. We have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen, and the facility is nice, up to date, and clean. The prices are much higher than our local vet (we live in a small town, but drive 70 miles to go to LAHC), but well worth it to use a vet we love and trust. We have used them for our OFA X-rays, yearly titers, and an entropian surgery. We love Lakewood and will use them as long as they keep up the great service, and friendly environment. We feel safe bringing our dogs there.

My 6-year old kitty was not feeling well so we took him to Lakewood Animal Health Center. He was diagnosed and treated for anxiety and a mild UTI. He did a little better for two months and then was acting poorly again. A chest x-ray was done and we were told that, while they really didn’t know why he was ill, he might have minor respiratory inflammation and he was treated with an anti-inflammatory. We were also told that if this did not help we should bring him back to have his heart checked. Two days latter our kitty was still doing poorly so we took him to a local emergency clinic were he was diagnosed to with kidney failure (we saw the blood work and x-rays) and we had to put him down. I do not recall the charge for the first visit to the charged close to LAHC but we were charged $250 for the second visit misdiagnosis. The day after we had to put our kitty down the vet who treated him at LAHC called to explain to us why she did everything correctly – it was all about damage control.
