My surgeon was fabulous.Anesthesia & care by that team very good. Once your animal is awake & vitals are cleared...GET YOUR PET OUT OF THERE. Get the drugs you need, & any what if's & leave. Unless you have an older dog who may need additional monitoring, do the after care yourself. Contrary to beliefs, this teaching hospital's prices are not cheap all. They will not give you a broad written estimate. Only a figure from & to. Their bills, after the fact, are very detailed if you ask for that, that was wonderful. The drugs they use for surgery & sedation pain, anxiety, inflammation etc are very reasonable. They are the best upsell people for sure. There is no surgical follow-up on Fridays or weekends, you can just sit there & worry. Get ALL your questions or what if's answered & hold them to it. Front desk staff, only certain girls. They will not let you see your dog in the aftercare area. Payment plans finance companies. Don't take "complication", when neglect by aftercare.

They saved my cats life.My cat came in on emergency with no circulation in her paw due to another vet's surgery all to fix a small wound(see my other reviews-all related to this)It should have never lead to this but regardless the vet and surgeon saved her with a necessary amputation for the amount of damage to her paw.I was a difficult customer, being very worried for her life. The surgeon took time out of his day just to talk to me about the surgery which does not normally happen. They were patient with me and in two months she fully recovered. Sometimes small vet mentality is warmer than larger vets, but I feel the UofS atleast gets it done right.I would rather that then all-talk and not successful vet experiences.

We brought our dog in to be put down after months of watching her decline, which wasn't easy as she was a family member to us. The vet came in and started asking what was wrong with her and as we began to explain all of our dogs issues she completely downplayed everything we had to say. She even so much as said I just have to do my job I can kill a healthy dog. She belittled us and made us feel like we were horrible people. Yes we could have forked over literally thousands of dollars as we had in the past at the same place for the same dog but had decided as a couple our dog was ready to go. The vet made us feel unbelievably uncomfortable and horrible. I will never take another animal to thay clinic again. It was our first family member we said goodbye to and it truly was a horrific experience. Defently do not recommend this place at all and I hope they are not teaching their students 5o act like this vet did.

My dog received good care. I was seeing a specialist so it was expensive. Every time we were there we had to wait a long time. My dog did pick up lice after being there and they don't disinfect the scale between dogs, which I question.
