I have been taking my pets to south rhea for 13 years and I have always been treated very well. It is always for the clients protection that they do not want the owner to hold the pet and I completely understand. The staff is wonderful and I completely trust them with my pets. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. They do take the animals from the room sometimes but it is mainly due to the animals feel more protective around their owners and act better away from them for a moment. I have seen that happen first hand and it goes the other way to some do better with the owner present. Each animal is different in the way they respond to different things and the staff has to judge how best to handle each case properly. I think they do a wonderful job.

Took my cat there, she recently had a litter of kittens and had gotten pregnant again, she had been throwing up and very weak. Took her the first time they told me she had a cold they did a lot of work that i didnt ask them to do and the bill that was supposed to be $45 ended up being $160.. we brought her back home and later that night she started having vaginal bleeding and was still very weak, I called the emergency contact number they give you and its an automated system that gives you different numbers to more automated systems. So waited till the next morning and called the office back they didnt answer until 30 minutes after they were supposed to have opened. I told them the symptoms and they said they could do an x ray on her for $90 I wasnt able to get any clear information from them as to what could be happening to my cat, they wouldnt let me speak to the vet that had treated her they did tell me that the bill could be well over $1000. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone

Dr. Nix seems very nice and caring but the technicians terrified my dog and they took her away from me to treat her. So when we finally saw Dr. Nix, she didn't want to see him either and they didn't really seem to have an answer for me, just gave an antibiotic. Now, 2 weeks later, she is sick with different symptoms. I don't like when they take the animals away from you for routine exams and care. They seem to have all the latest equipment and Dr. Nix seems like he knows what he is doing. But I don't care for their office policies and practices.
