My old pooch at age 16 was quite ill and when I brought him in there numerous options provided to me in how to proceeed with his care. Pascale Lauzier was the vet that we seen and she was absolutely amazing. She was very warm and caring and priced everything out for me before we proceeded with any testing. I knew what I was in for money wise right from the beginning. She gave her opinion of what she thought was best but not once did I feel pressured to just agree with what she wanted to do. I did find out my dog had cancer and I made the decision to proceed with euthanization. Again, every one of the staff were compassionate, gentle and let me and my fiancée take as much time as we needed to let our fur baby go. I can not recommend them enough! RID: 64660
Click to report rating    6/24/16   5     5     5     5   This clinic is quite expensive but they definitely know what they're doing. My oldest dog had a very serious abcess on his neck which was being treated but wasn't responding well and burst one Sunday evening after my regular vet had closed. I was scared and worried when Dr. Jackson told me that my boy would have to go in for surgery. I cried when leaving him for surgery and Dr. Jackson was compassionate and reassuring. The surgery went longer than expected and there were some complications but as soon as it was finished we recieved a phone call saying that we could visit. My dog was still heavily medicated but everything looked good and they said he did well in surgery. They held him for overnight observation and I was able to pick him up the next morning. His incision was incredibly well closed despite it being massive. It healed well. Dr. Jackson is a compassionate and talented vet. Great experience. RID: 60938
Click to report rating    2/7/16   5     5     5     5   Capital City was amazing. Our dog was very sick and we had seen two vets previously; one that couldn't tell what was wrong, and another that told us our dog may need to be euthanized! We came for a second opinion as a last resort, and were so glad we did. We met with Dr. Petra Warnock and she was incredible. She was empathetic, patient, and understood our concerns. She gave us options, and we went with surgery. Our dog went in immediately, and we got a call a few hours later that she was just fine. Today, our doggie is healthy and safe and recovering! The processes at Capital City are empathetic and client-centred. The techs and vets we spoke with were all amazing. We were also allowed to call for follow-up advice on our dog's recovery. We found out that they are a full service vet centre as well, and so now we're switching our on-going vet care to Capital City. In short, super pleased, we have our doggie back, and Dr. Petra Warnock was amazing! RID: 59714

Click to report rating    3/22/14   1     3     2     1   Worst ever! They only care about money. The over night vet, who had the bed side manner of an angry troll, told me our puppy probably had parvo and should be put down. She didn't test him. I insisted to keep overnight and give him fluids by IV. He was fine by the next afternoon. Overnight at the clinic and IV fluids cost me over $1600. Needless to say our puppy DID NOT have parvo and if I had followed the vets advice, I would have put down our fur baby for nothing. RID: 50628
Click to report rating    1/20/14   5     5     5     5   Our dog was attacked by another dog (unprovoked and off leash). Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly girl. The lobby was quiet and clean and we were taken in to a room. Dr. Williamson was extremely friendly and upfront with us and explained the severity of the wounds and that he would need to have emergency surgery. The estimate was between $980-$1400 and he kept the costs as low as possible, only charging us for the minimum amount of time necessary. All of the staff we encountered were compassionate, are clearly dedicated to animals and were very friendly and knowledgeable. We left around 11PM and were told to call in the morning. By the time we left, we were even smiling due to the kind comments and efforts of the staff putting our minds at ease. We were able to pick him up the next morning & they gave us a folder filled with detailed instructions and information. Overall, our experience with the EVEC, though unfortunate circumstances, was amazing. RID: 49361
Click to report rating    1/14/14   5     5     4     5   We had to bring our schnauzer in at 3:00 a.m. on Christmas eve. Thanks goodness they were available and gave us prompt and attentive service. We were given adequate information to be able to choose what type of treatment we felt we wanted to proceed with and we felt confident we had made the right choice. We were given prescriptions and a diet to help our dog through his pain and aleviate the problem. Within 12 hours he recovered and we were exceptionally pleased with the service and the outcome! Click to report rating    1/12/14   5     5     5     5   An immensely valuable service, staffed with a remarkable collection of caring, dedicated professionals, there to help when you most need it and no-one else is available. Dr. Brent Jackson and his staff saved the life of our beloved dog Kali and every single person we've encountered at EVEC has been caring, understanding and thoughtful. We've since had the opportunity to interact with many of the veterinarians as well as the vet techs and reception staff, and have had nothing but positive experiences. I could not more highly recommend any organization. RID: 49208
Click to report rating    1/2/14   5     5     5     5   I have seen both Dr. Brent Jackson and Dr. Kerr - they are wonderful, caring and loving people who treated me AND my pet with love and kindness. They gave good advice regarding palliative care for my cat and are helping me work within my budget to keep him happy, comfortable and as healthy as possible for the rest of his life. RID: 49033
Click to report rating    10/19/13   5     5     5     5   Dr. warnock is very good at helping to choose proper treatment based on budget. she explains pros and cons to all diagnostic tests. she also explains things in a way that clients can understandand is pleasant and receptive to questions. i have not had much experience with the other drs but overall they do call back when you phone in to check on your pet. they took very good care of my animals when my animals were sick. it can be pricey but i assure you these people deserve to have their wages paid. Click to report rating    7/8/13   5     5     5     5   When walking into the clinic you are greeted by the receptionist. They take your information and put you directly into an exam room. Within a short period of time the veterinarain comes in and examines your pet. For my visit, I was only in there for about an hour. The staff is very friendly and the vet I dealt with was very knowledgable. If you have an emergency with your I highly recommend this clinic! Thanks to them my cat did not go into critical condition! Thanks Edmonton Veterinarians' Emergency Clinic! RID: 43556
Click to report rating    6/7/13   5     5     5     5   I'm not sure why the bad reviews. We've had to bring our dog here on a few occasions and have only positive experiences. Yes, they will cost more than your regular vet, they are an emergency service, open 24 hours, 365 days, they have a higher overhead and I expect that. I recently brought my dog in thinking he had an intestinal blockage, it turns out we were right and he needed emergency surgery. The doctor talked to us honestly about our options and expected outcomes, he helped us make the right decisions regarding his care. The staff were kind and let us stay in the comfort room for as long as we needed. We were there on and off for 2 1/2 days and never felt unwelcome. My dog is alive because of them. Yes, paying that bill was difficult but it was worth it. RID: 42995
Click to report rating    4/8/13   5     4     3     3   I took my dog her after hours with congestive heart failure and they saved his life (and got me a consult with a board certified cardiologist who is taking over his patient care). They do a fee consult upfront with a minimum and maximum estimate of costs prior totreatment so you know the full extent of the costs. This does not mean they dont start treatment right away, in my dogs case he presented with a blue tongue and gums (a real emergency!). They immediately began treatment on him while they did the estimate with me. Although treatment was expensive they came in under budget and were very transparent and helpfull my whole visit. They even had a tech stay most of the night with my dog so he would stay as calm as possible. I am so glad this after hours clinic exists so i can get 24 hr care whenmy dog is critical RID: 41630
Click to report rating    9/8/12   1     1     1     1   All this clinic cares about is money. There is no compassion for the animals or especially the owners. Dr jackson use to really care about animals but after he married wilma that all changed....unless of course you own an airplane that is. They overcharge for everything. I took a VERY sick cat in and they put me in a room. I was the only one in the clinic and they left me sitting in the room for almost 15 minutes before they even sent a vet in. The first thing they discuss is an estimate. They were in the news one time for taking a woman's wedding ring after she had already forked out a huge amount of money. STAY AWAY. I left that night with my cat as the estimate was over $1000.00 Went to Mornville.......paid $360.00 RID: 37065
Click to report rating    8/18/12   1     2     1     1   This clinic is all about the money - not the care. After I told them specifically not to give my pet a certain medication - the did anyway and they killed him. The same night - they were laughing as another pet was being euthanized in the back. Very rude if you don't have a lot of money - wrong treatments - and the support staff is useless. If I didn't take him there - he would still be alive as confirmed by another vet. RID: 36611
Click to report rating    8/9/12   1     1     1     1   I took my kitty in there after hours - her previous blood tests she had at her regular vet showed her levels were fine, just was a bit dehydrated. The vet didn't even sit down with me , it was a girl who was more concerned with charging me for everything she could. I told her that she was NOT to get any anesthesia during her water treatment (her other vet didn't have to do that) - she convinced me she needed a 12 hour treatment - stupid me I said okay - not only did they give her the anesthesia - they gave her another dose before they took her out 'because she was afraid she was going to get scratched). My baby's kidney levels after that went critical - and I had to put her down - hardest day in my life. Stay away from them - they do not know what they are doing. If I would have not taken her in there - I know she would still be alive. Girls in the back had no clue what they were doing - I had to weigh her. She went in for a simple treatment - and they killed her. RID: 36388
