This was once the best veterinary clinic I have been too. The front staff was friendly, interactive and knowledgeable, but that has changed. The real reason I loved this office was Dr. de Winter, by far the best vet I have ever seen. She was honest, sincere and did not money gouge her clients. Miss her dearly. Think it’s time to source out a better vet office. Plus the most recent vet I saw charged me ridiculous prices for nothing.

Excellent clinic. Highly recommended. Fair prices. They were honest, compassionate and helped guide me through a very difficult decision with my dog Charly. Special thanks to Dr. De Winter and Dr. Cannon.

Extremely expensive and extravagant practice, they try to upsell you on every item possible. Extraneous fees are charged on top of already expensive vet care wherever possible. The vet for our first ever visit was impatient and rude, often cutting us off and had a "This is what you will get for your animal, otherwise you're a bad person." attitude. Communication between front end staff (who are receptionists, not techs/vets) and techs/vets is terrible. One end would change appointments without updating their counterparts, medical records weren't updated, personal information is entered into the wrong files - meaning they pull up somebody else's pet and home info when you give them your phone # and name (this alone is a grievous privacy concern). When you phone with a question you get put on hold by multiple people until you get someone who knows what they are talking about. After getting fed up, we found a vet that cared about animal health - not making money and looking good.

Professional, knowledgeable and compassionate - the three most important things in a Vet clinic. Dr. Renooy is open to exploring treatment alternatives, and willing to listen to the pet owner. I'm so very glad I found this clinic - and my dogs are treated well when they are here.

Great service. Great staff. Reasonable prices in comparison to other clinics. Staff always responds quickly and professionally and doctors are knowledgable and kind. Facility is spotless also.

dealt with this clinic prior to the new location though Dr. Bruce tried and refused to listen to what we were telling him about are cat he was insistant there was nothing wrong discontinue all meds she had been on and when we finally found a vet who was going to try and help out cat it was proven she has very severe medical condition and never should have been taken on those meds. We had surgery done by another vet and our cat lived 7 years long. Secondly they do not allow you to go with your pets for treatments you wait in the waiting room. Pets needs owners with them for reassurance. Save your money and go to get referrences from friends just remember this is a business and only in for profit.

I started going to this vet in 2007 after we moved here from Alberta. I have alot of time in vet clinics over the years with my lab. This vet clinic, is by far the cleanest clinic I have been to. The fees are fees, expect them if you have pets, and care for them. The fees are a bit more in BC altogether, but the fees are the same around the valley. I truly love the doctors here at Van Isle, especailly Dr De Winter. She is honest, caring, and truthful, even if the truth is not the news you want to hear. She takes her time with you, and does not make you feel like the clock is ticking. I always was able to ask my questions, and appreciated all of the answers. Considering I would do anything for my dog, she knew when it was time to let him go, with his dignity. Anyone is lucky to have her as their vet. I recommend her to all my friends. After our hearts heal, I will contact her when we are ready to have another furry child.

I have MANY pets, and often rescue small animals and barnyard babies that need a hand up. The front staff is happy to answer my many phone calls for information on what ever new critter I have taken on. I also breed dogs which is very time sensitive, both with the initial breedings (AI) and the c-sections to deliver my new babies. On every occation the team has done what ever it takes to make my dreams come true. The after care, phone calls to make sure everything is going well, and thorough discussion between the staff of any unusual cases makes me sure I'm getting the best treatment for my pets. I am very, very happy to take my pets for the best technology, knowledgable, friendly, caring staff in a beautiful, inviting atmosphere. I have recommended Van Isle Vets on many occasions and those friends have had successful outcomes to some tricky problems. Thank-you to Monica, Dr. De Winter, Dr. Renooy, Dr. Canon, all the amazing techs. and the great receptionists.

The front staff did not seem to know what they were talking about when I asked questions about my dog. Went to another clinic. It was much smaller but the staff really cared and knew so much more.

The staff goes beyond the call of duty in all animal care. I take both my cats and dog there. My dog Klondike had a severe medical problem last year - when I was ready to give up on him, they didn't and he survived and except for a limp is a happy, healthy dog.

My Yorkie was pregnant and delivered four healthy babies. A! great big Thank you to the caring doctors

By far the best vet clinic in the Comox Valley! Their new building isn't up yet, but it looks amazing (and huge!) I had Dr. Renooy and I highly recommend him. The receptionist area staff were so nice and they gave my dog free treats!
