Phoned to bring in my Havanese for a nail trim, was told $40 over the phone which is already ridiculous. Then After the completion of my appt I’m told that it’s now $48. With no reason for an extra charge and that nothing can be done about it. Outrageously priced for 10 min of work.

When I came in with an emergency for my little dog they were very comforting and took care of her right away. They stayed late to make sure she was doing ok after surgery and called me several hours after closing time to update me.

I took my cats to Delton for about 20 years. Two years ago they introduced an extra fee for a same day appointment. In other words if you had an emergency - pay up. I complained to the Alberta Vets College and after an investigation they told me that they had no control over what vets charge. I was also embarrassed about some cat food I was returning. The receptionist told me I was trying to sneak in a can of a commercial brand. I have not returned to Delton. I often think that since Dr. Keeler retired they have gone downhill.

I'm taking care of a couple of wonderful dogs for a couple of weeks. Their family is moving to Hong Kong, and has gone ahead of the pooches to set up house. The dogs will follow later this week. Part of the canine immigration process involves quite a lot of particular paperwork. These dogs have lived in Calgary all their lives, so this was an unfamiliar place, with unfamiliar people (including me really....I mean, they know me, but I'm not their usual companion). When I called to make the appointment the staff were friendly and thorough as they created charts for them over the phone. I appreciated this, because it expedited the check in process on appointment day. When we arrived, we were greeted like old friends. Important to note that we were a bit early, but were not made to wait at all. The reception staff took time to pet and talk to the boys, making them feel instantly comfortable. Continued from below. and after a 20 minute conversation with the same vet, I was given the advice to euthanize my dog, charged a $100 exam fee with my dog not even present, and given a handout on euthanasia. So this, along with a few other personal examples and seeing other reviews on this office is why I am changing vets. Everyone and their pets deserve better.

It has become very apparent that this office is only in it for the $$. On numerous occasions I have been over charged, all of which were caught by myself and never the receptionist and always followed by an excuse as to why it happened. The care provided to my pets has been mediocre at best. I say this because one of the vets, who still works there, is a supposed skin specialist who misdiagnosed my dogs' mange. After trying different medicated shampoos, medications, switching food and follow up exams, you can imagine how much that cost. We finally reached a diagnosis only after signs and symptoms worsened drastically. I will add that I am pretty forgiving and still had some faith in this particular vet so I gave her another opportunity with my other dog that I adopted. I was charged the initial exam fee when in office it is advertised that if you adopt, the first visit is free (within a certain time period). I highly recommend all the vets at Delton vet clinic. Excellent Service from the Reception staff too. I was really happy with the verbal instructions and follow up phone calls from the staff. Now, I always tell my friends and family to go to Delton even if they have to drive across the city!!

Over the last two or three years the charges have increased significantly and the care has decreased. Although some of the original staff are still great, the new techs and attitudes are neither pet nor client friendly. Additional charges for prescriptions and refills, the time it takes both pre and post appointment to get to billing, and some negative attitudes are taking a toll. Lack of follow up calls post a major and a minor dental surgery was disappointing. we have taken our pets to Delton for many years, and the changes have been difficult to adjust to as a client. I valued the relationship with our vets and respected their skill. Unfortunately, with all the changes, we are looking at a fresh start with a different clinic.

I have been taking my pets to this clinic for 25 years. Since Dr Keeler retired that clinic has been on a steady decline. Within a 24 hour period I had to take my dog in: one visit was for her annual checkup and eye issue, the other was a follow up for the eye issue. I was charged for a physical exam on both visits! I understand having to pay for the first physical, but not the second. I argued with the front staff and finally the doctor. The doctor told me that my dog would not get follow up treatment if I did not pay for the second physical, so I had no choice as I needed to know if the treatment for the eye problem needed to be changed. I told the doctor that they were just gouging their clients and that I would not be returning. She did not even care. The clinic had to arrange for a presciption from my local pharmacy and charged for $17 for this. On each visit I was there for approximately 2 hours - way stressful for my dog. The exam rooms were NOT cleaned between pets.

Misdiagnosed my dog for 5 years, over charged for tests that they did more then once and wouldn't say they did. My dog suffered and had to be put down because of there lack of knowledge or care. Worst vet ever!

Our dog Shelby had a biopsy on a growth on her face. I called after the surgery and was told she was doing fine and that Dr. Person would phone us soon. I waiting patiently a few hours for Dr. Person to call, but he never did call. We had to call again, and to our horror, learned she was in distress and was bleeding to death. She had been in distress the 1st time I called in the morning, when I had been told she was recovering well. We had to euthanize her. Shelby had been alone suffering all day. We could have been with her. Instead she suffered alone.

I have taken countless cats and dogs here for 10 years. Dr. Person is the best that I have found and I trust him with all of my animals. They have always gotten in my emergency cases, are very explicit upfront about surgery costs and call throughout the day to let me know how my pet is doing. Veterinary Care is expensive. And worth it.

My friends dog was hit by a car and died. He was absolutely devastated so i dealt with everything for him. I took the remains to Delton and said i'd like the dog cremated to keep the ashes. I paid the fee and paid to have his paw prints done. I got a call after i was home telling me that the dog had been taken for a group cremation (where they cremate all types of animals who didn't pay for separate cremation)and that they were so sorry. I couldn't believe it. I was disgusted with the whole process. How does that happen? It happens because of the lack of smarts of the staff there. Of course they apologized and all i could think of doing is ask for some of the ashes from that cremation to give to my friend. I didn't have the heart to tell him of their mistake. That would have killed him. Of course my money was returned, but this should have never happened. I will never go back there for any animal.

This clinic is the best. Dr J. Person is very congenial and knowledgeable. If you truly think that your case is an emergency, then go to an emergency clinic. Noone can tell, over the phone, what is an emergency, and most clinics do not stay open after business hours or emergency hours, without charging emergency rates or transferring to an emergency clinic at your expense. That's why emergency clinics exist.

Dr Collis and the team at Delton Vet Hospital are first rate. I especially like the fact that Dr. Collis takes the time to call or send and email to thoroughly explain test results. She is very concerned about the health of our pet and is committed to top quality service. Always approachable and friendly. Front desk staff are compassionate and helpful.

I have been ordering specialty bird food for years from Delton. All of a sudden my order wasn't filled. Upon inquiring I was told that the food was back ordered . 2months later, still no food. They offered me expired food to hold me over. Now I get the food from somewhere else that has no problem getting it. My bird needs to eat. If Delton couldn't get the food I should gave been told and not strung along and then offered expired product .

I think the numbers say it all, I had a horrible experience, paid over double what I had been told to expect, and no reasons given. I should have taken this company to the BBB, or a newspaper, but weren't worth my energy. Find a different vet!

My bird died last night because the person taking the phone calls booked me an appointment instead of treating her as an emergency. When someone calls in about egg binding don't put them off till the next day. I call today to tell them my bird passed an the lady today says maybe the girl who took your appointment didn't know it was an emergency sooo why does she work there!!!! Anyone working there should know what an emergency is. I knew it was an emergency but being told by a vet office to wait till the next day I thought they some what knew what they were talking about so I trusted in them and yeah I now have a dead cockatiel. Don't put trust in these people with the lives of your animals.

Amazing clinic! All the staff are helpful and you can tell they all care about their patients. I brought my pets there for at least 10 years (4 cats) and they have helped us through some very difficult situations. My only regret is that we have now moved to another province.
