I've been dealing with my cat's excessive overgrooming for the last year and a half. I was suggested a hydrolyzed diet, blood tests, urine test as well as medications. Many many vet appointments and a referral to a $$$ dermatologist later and turns out she just needed FLEA MEDICINE. The dermatologist suggested it. Told me it would kill any parasite she might have. It worked. A $50 fix compared to the thousands I've spent. I'm Beyond choked. It's been a very stressful ride having the vets just tossing suggestions at a wall hoping something would stick. This journey could have ended much sooner.

VERY unsatisfactory service especially since during COVID Interaction was with my son over his therapy dog. Vet office called to book a follow up. Then called back to change to meet vet's sch. Did not thoroughly explain costs in advance of telephone appt and called the next day to collect more money since call went over time allottment! Dr Rae did not take any responsibility for situation and stated her services via phone were taking her away from her family although her clinic changed the appointment to suit her. Already paid $500 first visit, called staff to ask for no additional charges following the phone call mgr called and bullied son into additional pymt. When confronted with feelings over situation no accountability from Dr Rae. Clearly expects to be paid for vague diagnosis over the phone to be followed up by another visit that would add to the initial $65 taking it to a price over what a visit would be during non COVID. Entitled disrespectful, will not return nor recommend

Never in my entire life have I experienced such wonderful veterinary care as I have at McKenzie Vet Services. Dr. Burniston has been an actual angel for my sick cat and I. Without him my cat would likely not be alive, or at the very least would be suffering and in pain. He was very understanding of my low income and worked around that, even donating what he could to save me on the bill. I will never go elsewhere in Vic! Thank you, guys.

We used the McKenzie mobile vet services for their humane euthanasia. After being disrespected and argued with over the need to euthanize our suffering cat at Central Vic vet hospital we were so worried about our appointment with McKenzie's mobile service but they were so lovely! Dr. Rae was so compassionate, professional and efficient. It's such an awful and hard choice to make already without the stress of being argued with and treated badly so we were so relieved at how sweet Dr.Rae and her assistant were. Cannot recommend McKenzie Veterinary Services and Dr.Rae highly enough!! I know we will be repeat customers for our other pets from now on. Though money is not the concern at the time, for the sake of the review and people who read it, MVS are very very affordable and offer multiple options depending on whether you want individual or group cremation, keepsakes, etc. Thank you again MVS!!!

Had a situation with a dog we adopted through them. We finally got it solved, pretty much accidentally, after which they were completely patronizing, they refused to admit any responsibility, wouldn't even listen to our side of the story, and they flat out refused to apologize, even after I directly asked for an apology. Only the front desk staff were actually friendly. After we are done with what we have already been charged for, we will not be stepping through those doors again.

I have been going to McKenzie Veterinary for at least 15 yrs. The dog we now have has been their patient for 7 yrs. The vets there are excellent. Dr. McCartney found his cancerous anal gland and Dr. Tom did an amazing surgery. Our boy was given 6 mos., perhaps a year with chemo. which we decided against. This was in March 2012. Dr. Durmuller got his insulin for diabetes right the first time around. Our little guy may be 12 years old but he is doing really well with the good care he has had.

Dr. Durmuller was incredible; the staff, not so much. One is very combative, and nasty when I was in shock over the 90 dollar charge for an anti-inflammatory. She said medication costs a lot for people, too. But I replied, not when it is a generic human drug that would cost just a few pennies, and that I was going to mix up my own from my own arthritis medication.

I had taken my cat here once after first adopting her and just had her back in for a concern tonight. We saw Dr Tom both times and I appreciated his thoroughness, patience and detailed explanation. He listened carefully to the history run-down we provided, we discussed some shared concerns and he took kitty for a reasonable test. Our visit was prompt and not too long. Even better was that this clinic has evening hours for people whose work schedules make it hard to get to appointments by 5 or 6pm, as well as being open weekends. The front desk staff were friendly and clearly explained charges and we left with all our questions answered. Based on tonight's visit, I'll be happy to bring my girl back.

Dr. Durmuller is a hero! She put extraordinary effort into finding and treating our JR's rare condition. She calls to check on our girl. We can't say enough about her. Sandee helped us figure out a workable, healthy diet. All the staff works with us without losing patience with our over-protective doggy parenthood. This clinic cares more about the pet than the pay cheque - a refreshing change.

Most of the staff is nice but I have had a couple of visit where they were quite unfriendly and made me feel little for being 2 weeks late on shots. The place is nice and I did wait around quite a bit but that didn't bother me so much. The worst is that they have try to do unnecessary tests. They have tried to get me to buy there food and put my dog onto a vegetarian diet because of mild allergies. They have done that with other people's dog I know. But they never mentioned that it could be an inhalant such as pollen etc, which I found out when people have hay fever my dog's allergies come back. After researching I found out that it is the most common allergy. They have giving me the wrong medication once.(I found out after I gave it to my dog.) And they are more expensive than others.

Have had a couple of visits and found the staff okay. Dr McCartney is excellent as is Dr Oomah who has since left. The paperwork does take a lot of time however.

Good vets but horrible service! I'm tired of waiting so long...waiting to get in, waiting to pay! It's so stressful when I have 2 cats in crates to have to wait so long just to pay and get out (this is without any medications purchased!). I'm now looking for another vet based on the waiting time alone. I wish they'd get their act together.

I wish my own MD treated me with as much care as my dog received at McKenzie Veterinary Services! Really appreciated follow-up phone calls to check in on him after surgery.

We have had great experiences with Dr. Mcartney and Dr. Oomah. Both of them are pleasant and handle our dog with care, especially Dr. Mcartney who we appreciated recently during a time of need. His urgency was much appreciated. The problem however we have had is the staff/reception. After reviewing our invoice ($1000) we had a question about one of the charges. When my wife dropped in for clarification the staff member was rude and combative. I think it is very important for this type of business to understand that there are options and many good vets in Victoria. Junior staff should be reminded from time to time who "butters their bread". Despite how much we like both vets, we will be exploring other clinics. For the most part our experiences have been good, but this was unsatisfactory.

Dr. McCartney and his fabulous staff have dealt with my dogs various health issues with the utmost of care and kindness. My little rescue had a terrible fear of the vet exams and has turned from kujo to Benjie with Dr Mccartney, thanks to his patience and endless supply of cookies. All the staff are fantastic and test results are always given promptly. I wish We had the medical care my dog gets in this office! They are fair in the billing, never ordering unnecessary tests or meds. I feel so lucky to have this quality care for my best friend. When I am out in the dog parks it seems like everyone has positive things to say about this office.

Dr. Oomah is amazing. He did surgery on our dog's leg after a tragic accident which left us considering ampuation, in the middle of the night. He called us every week and dealt with all the aftercare without breaking the bank. Our dog now runs with us every day!

We brought our male Holland Lop in for a neutering. Dr. Oomah answered all of my many questions, seemed to thuroughly like the bunnies and know a lot about them. After surgery he promptly called me and even shared some of his lunch with my bun! Fabulous set up over there.

Dr. Macartney and his staff have always provided expert and excellent care to our cat. He's very knowledgeable, never had us do any unnecessary procedures and he charges fairly. The clinic is a caring and hardworking facility. When our cat developed an odd cough a few years ago, he was not only able to diagnose her asthma without any tests, he was also able to induce the same cough from her to confirm (because of course, she never had the cough while visiting any vet.) A previous vet had wanted to run expensive tests first. Another time, our cat had a medical emergency at night and we left a message on his Pacific Mobile emergency phone before taking her to an animal hospital. Thankfully, he called us back before we left, diagnosed the problem, reassured us that she would be fine if we just waited until morning and took her into his clinic without an appointment. He saved us hundreds of dollars in hospital fees and our cat recovered quickly. He & his staff have my full trust & respect.
