Best vet clinic in the tri-city area.I have been taking my cat and dog .I found them after my regular vet refused to accept my dog as a new patient !!They were fantastic helping me with my 17 year cat health problems. They showed compassion and understanding.last week they wowed me again.I have a 4 year dog that needed its grooming. I showed up the clinic asking for help locating a new groomer. My dog had been refused at Petsmart because he was now considered too matted for their untrained groomers.Leaving me in tears and frustrated .I walked into the clinic and they called a groomer that helped me that same day.The new groomer was fantastic! The service that I received from Port Coquitlam Animal Hospital was exceptional. It showed me how much they care about the animals that help! I highly recommend them . They are there to help you.

I have been going to Port Coquitlam animal hospital for nine years with my dogs. At each and every visit i am in awe at their "more than I could ever ask for care". In particular one of my dogs is highly anxious. They are always patient, kind, understanding, and fantastic towards him. When this dog had a serious issue they answered all my questions, never rushed me, and were prompt to phone with testing results. I simply cannot thank Dr. Goodwin and each and every staff member enough for their fantastic care!!

I have to respond to the person last commented. I was at the clinic the day that this woman came in and she was treated the way she should of been treated. She was explained to that the doctor had to leave early that night and a message was left on her cell phone for her to please call to reschedule. She was extremely rude to the staff! She was applogized to several times for the troubles. She was also late for her so called appointment. This ia a great hospital and very friendly staff. Do not believe what everyone says. Sounds like this lady is just trouble.

I have been bringing my dogs to this clinic for 7 years. I jave probably spent well over $5000 in that time. On my last vet visit, I had an appointment for a Rabies vaccination for one of my dogs, I arrive at the clinic and the receptionist (the rude older brunette) says my appointment was cancelled. I drove 45 mins to get there and my dog needed his shot because it had expired 5 days prior. This woman is inbelievably rude, she always has been but I ignored it in the past because the vets are excellent. This was the last straw for me, I told her how I felt she was rude and that I have been a long time client who always pays every bill on time, no complaints and they were treating me like an inconvience. She argued with me, never even offered an appology for the cancellation. I told them I would be going to another vet in the future, still no appology from her. I left, found a terrific vet in Langley the next day. So glad I left, they overcharge as well.

Dr Goodwin is our Vet and we have been going since 2000. He is compassionate, does not do unnecessary testing or surgeries ... as these are disruptive to our pets :). Love our Dr G. He cried with us when we suddenly had to put our chocolate lab down 2 years ago ... he feels for our pets. Best clinic in the world if I had my say.

I took my dog in because she was throwing up continuously. I was told it was the food I had her on (which was a special brand already) & I had to buy this other food that I could only get through them. I also had to give her antibiotics. It was very expensive food & I was told by the staff I had to buy it through them as it was 'vet recommended' I did some research on the internet my own & turns out Milkbone dog treats I was giving her are hard on boxer tummies. I stopped giving them to her and the vomiting stopped.I went back to her regular food at less than half the price & my puppy was fine. That visit cost me nearly $400. The next time I took her in (why oh why) she had a growth inbetween her toes. they took a needle sample, I was called the next day told that she probably has cancer & they had to operate asap. $1100 later my pup had ingrown hair follicles, that would have cleared up with antibiotics. I will NEVER take her back again. Could add so much more but no more space.

I can't sing enough praises of Dr. Goodwin. He has treated 6 mastiffs that have come through me via my own and rescues. He is caring , competent and extremely knowledgeable about my large breed dogs. I also appreciaate his honesty and dedication. Recommend him highly. Dr. Wallis has also been very supportive in difficult times.

I used to bring my bird in here for claw clippings before her death. They do not know how to handle birds at all. They put big gloves on to grab a budgie. They missed catching her from her cage and got lose flying around the back room. They scared the crap out of her and grabbed her in mud flight. They are also responsible fir her death. I brought her in fir a check up because she laid a egg. The vet checked her tummy and said she was fine. ($80 later) Took her home, then, twos days later there was blood in her cage and I could see she was in pain. I took her back to the vet. The same vet looked at her in the cage and said he knows nothing about birds and that I needed to take her to Eagle Ridge Animal Hospital. Still charged $60 for looking at her. Took her to the other vet. Turns out she was egg bound among other problems that all could have been prevented had Poco vet told me they don't know anything about birds. Sadly she was put down that day and the other vet saw her no charge.

For many years I had brought my dog to this hospital. Simply because it was just close to my home. My dog had been diagnosed with "environmental allergies" by several of the doctors there (always a different doctor when you go there. that's another issue in itself). I could not wrap my head around the fact that my dog has ONLY suffered from a horrible ear infection and not anything else ie. Itchy paws/skin etc. They just kept prescribing a little pink pill called Vanectyl P. Now that I know more about this drug, I have found out that it is a steroid (Prednisone) and they kept administering it (without encouraging culturing) to the point where he had to triple his original dose because he was in SUCH discomfort. After switching vets, doing a culture, and feeding him a raw diet thanks to a holistic clinic in port moody, he hasn't had to take a single pill since. Might I add that that pill can ultimately leed to Cushings disease and liver failure. I WILL NEVER RECOMEND THIS CLINIC.

I find this animal hospital a money pit. Example - my cat got sick with gunky eye and needs medication. I came in, told them exactly what worked last time, nope, the give me something else charging for the whole visit. I explain I have a second cat which highly likely picks up the same thing - nope, you have to bring her in (and we will charge you for another visit). Guess what, 2 weeks later no changes and I come and see another doctor, and tell him to give me what I originally asked for - he does (and it works) but he charges me for another visit! full visit, no check up, no reduced fee and listen to this - tells me again to bring in second cat for a full price. You must be a millionnaire to use their services - the visit is more than other vets in the area and be aware they charge you over and over again for ging you wrong medications...

Front office staff are rude and uncaring...I will be looking to change vets, only because of the office staff.

Don't let the scary older brunette lady at the front desk scare you. The younger girls at the front desk are awesome as are all of the vets. They all genuinely care and provide great service.

My dog had excellent care from Dr's Ferguson and Goodwin who are both great. They don't do more than you need and are very compassionate. Dr. Ferguson was wonderful when we had to put our beloved lab down last year. She is very caring and it made the situation easier to cope with. Highly recommend this clinic. This will be my vet clinic for my next dog. Thank-you!

All the vets at this hospital are very good but I have chosen Dr. Ferguson to be my animals regular vet. She seems to know her stuff, is very caring, and a pleasent person to deal with. Even though I think the prices are too high I have no intention of looking for another vet. The staff are also great. Because of the way they greet the animals my dog loves going to the vet.

Very nice doctors but I agree with the previous comments -- the desk staff aren't friendly. i got a cold response and one person was particularly rude. The doctors are fantastic however.

I love this clinic and have been going for years...when Dr. Higgins retired I was very concerned that things would change but not at all..all the vets are caring and the staff get to know you personally...Dr. Boyle runs the vet tech training at Douglas College...Dr. Ferguson and Dr. Goodwin and Dr. Horne are all great..Building could use some changes but oh well..Prices seem high for a regular visit..

Dr. Goodwin is very good to my dog and very patient. He has taken a liking to my dog to the point that he does any surgeries that my dog has needed himshelf. Most of the staff that work there are very nice. I don't get the impression that he trys to do unnecessary tests. I think he trys to give me a break on some of the costs. I would recommend him any time. However, the costs of the visits are a little more than other clinics and they have gone up again. I have chosen to try other vet clinics because of this reason.

This is my third veterinarian in three years. The first vet was in Port Coquitlam, at Coast Meridian. High prices, sales pitches, the service is OK, not extremely friendly. The second one was in New Westminster, on 6th. The service is decent, but not compassionate, and the prices are high. They don't bother to provide you with more information or care than they think it's necessary. They removed a fat lump from my dog for about $900. We were not told about the biopsy they should have taken before submitting our dog to surgery. The last one, because this is a keeper, impressed us with the friendly and compassionate care. My dog had a big infection after being bit by an Alaskan/Husky type of dog. Again, some people are not supposed to own any pet at all, period. My dog had his second major surgery, this time at POCO Animal Hospital, in less than three weeks. He will be fine. They even trim his nails for us. Very professional, very caring people. Price was right, under $400. Thank you!

Have been going to this clinic for almost 30 years. Wonderful caregivers, willing to try different options. Make your and your four legged friend feel like you are important. Never push you out the door in a rush. Original owners and vets have retired or moved on but quality new vets have replaced those outgoing. Also rescue friendly.
