Dr. Makowal and his staff are exceptional. They regularly update us and keep us informed to Bastian's appointments and check ups. The staff is so good with our dog; they are patient, kind and very understanding to my nervous pup. Dr. Makowal himself is very patient with our dog Bastian, who at first was very nervous around him, but because of Dr. Makowal's caring nature he has warmed up to him so much more. We owe a lot to Makowal Animal Hospital, they keep our dog healthy and happy!!

I am very happy with this clinic because of Dr. Makowal. The services are expensive and you cannot cut costs. However, my dog has autoimmune disease in addition to epilepsy and Dr. Makowal has found the cure. He brought back information from on of his conventions about a new drug for her and we gave it a go. My dog is no longer suffering from autoimmune disease. I credit him for finding a solution. The reception staff are not the best. They can forget things frequently, ie. having medication ordered and waiting, but I just make sure I give complete instructions for the service I want and follow up to ensure everything is completed.

I have never had an issue with this clinic. My dog, who is now 4, has been going to them since he was 3 months old and I couldn't be happier. Although I have heard that they are one of the most expensive clinics, for the service I get I don't mind. Mind you, I have called other clinics and they are roughly the same price. I wouldn't have my dog see any one else. They take amazing care of my little guy.

Hit or miss with this clinic. The assistants are very good and friendly and easy to talk to. The doctor I dealt with however, is another story. He was pushy and seemed like he was just trying to get me to spend more money. The other doctor there is very good though. Still undecided if I'd go back with my pup.

He and his friendly staff helped us with our first doberman. They provided us will all the help we needed and gave us great advice and medical care when it came to our dog.

Vets are rude, staff are okay, clinic had a bad smell and vet did not know how to treat my animal properly. Went to another clinic and they looked after my pet and solved the issue for MUCH CHEAPER! Would not recommend or go back!

I am not very impressed with this clinic.I took my puppy for her booster shot and we had to wait 15minutes in the exam room for the vet.I really wanted to avoid this, because her immune system is not strong yet. Before we entered the clinic I stayed in the car with my dog and my husband tolk care of the the formal things.Than they called us and still let us wait so long. The doctor was pushy with other vaccines and chip the dog. Won't come back.

I have been going to see Dr. Makowal since he took over Simcoe Street North Vet Clinic which was over 8 years ago. I live closer to Ajax so I now go there. He is the most kind, caring concerned vet I have ever met and has treated my 2 dogs and my family with nothing but respect and top notch service. I would never go anywhere else!! Great Job!!

The one vet that I have had here is very rude and disrespectful. I brought in my cat and the vet talked to me as if i was a four year old child who did not understand any medical terms. The vet first explained to me what an xray machine was, and then after diagnosing my cat continued to state that he probably needed IV and antibiotics. He then explained to me what IV meant. After refusing the treatments that he suggested due to the great cost I knew my only choice was to put the cat down. On his list of treatments was an antibiotic which I did have enough money to try (this was one on a list of many things which amounted to $1023). I said that if the antibiotics don't work that I know the humane choice would be to put my cat down. He then badgered me for 10 minutes about how he should report me for animal cruelty and that I should put the cat down after I had already told him I know that would be the only choice. He almost brought me to tears he was very rude, and I will never go back.

I have 2 dogs. They are 12 and 14. No immediate health concerns.Moved to Ajax and started with the Makoowal Animal hospital in Ajax.First visit was ok, but it seemed that they were trying to push medication for a routine checkup. This year I split the visits for shots in half (Jul and then Sept).Visit in July they got blood tests (recommend for older dogs to test kidney etc) and were examined (heartworm). The doctor checked thoroughly for fleas and ticks and commented that he was impressed there was no sign of them.I stated they have never been diagnosed with fleas ever. After my visit I noticed the dogs scratching more.On followup visit they were riddled with fleas and ticks.I saw myself. We were given a large amount of various meds, without discussing other options.Im concerned that they may have been contracted there as they are not in contact with other dogs and have never been kenneled, and now, their follow up phone call is to sched dental surgery for the 12 yr old. CONCERNED!
