I have no problem with this clinic. The staff are always friendly, prices are reasonable and they are gentle and caring with our dogs and cats. The only problem I have is in their advertisement where they say they treat Exotics. I have Ferrets which they refused to treat. One of the best Veterinary Doctor had a clinic in Sooke BC, he has now passed on. He treated all types of animals and what he didn't know he would consult with other Vets that did and would make sure your pet got the best treatment. He never turn you away without giving you another place you could take your pet. He would even phone the other Vet for you. He went above and beyond a Great Vet he was. I wish there were more Vets out there like him.

Had a very bad experience with the locum on shift he was very unpleasant. Marten Randle was of no help. After waiting for my appointment was late coming then called and left us in the exam room as the vet went off in the back room to help another client who just arrived. when I mentioned how Unsatisfied we were Marten tried to bully me to not have an option, His own personal stink , how can a professional health care provider be so unaware of his halitosis, was more than any animal or person should ever have to bare, he then pushed me and offered to escort out the door. A very unpleasant. receptionist Karen was helpful.

We are fortunate to have these vets and staff on island and as part of our community. They are kind, caring and knowledgeable. Understanding that many have modest or limited incomes, they provide options without judgment and fairly charge for their services. They have an emergency pager and unless they are off island, they respond. End of life care is extraordinary.

Karen is terrific but the two vets are too preoccupied with other things to give animals thorough care. I know of too many animals who have had to be rushed to Nanaimo after having been misdiagnosed. As well there is no emergency service.

Overall, my experience was not bad at this Vet. The main reason I took my business elsewhere is the lack of afterhour service they 'dont' provide. Twice now I've needed it and they were not available...so, I simply had to make the decision to use a Vet with weekend 'regular' hrs. We now use Chase River and they are open 7 days a week. I also think they could improve on the services they provide - I know it's a small practice but bloodwork had to be sent away. I truly would prefer to keep my business on island but my dog is my family - and I cannot accept mediocre service.

Dr. Thomas is the best vet we've ever had. Caring, very thorough, and explains EVERYTHING, including costs and options. I know that my pets receive the best care possible when I take them to Twin Cedars.

We're very lucky to have such caring vets. My dog was having ongoing stomach issues and they were very methodical with testing and patient with all my questions. They took time to explain and gave us a referral to Vancouver when they felt a specialist needed to be consulted. They continue to be my first choice and will always be. Unfortunately as we are off island Monday to Friday normally we can't always use their expertise. But if I ever have a question I know they'll take the time to explain even knowing we can't always get to them as our primary vet. Thank you for your dedication and I always, always, recommend you both to anyone who is new to the island. And Karen is wonderful at the front desk!

Awesome, as they have always been there when needed rain or shine. Easy to speak with and explain pet issues in a way that are understandable. Very fair rates and when emergencies arise they have surpassed my expectations.

Never had any problems with Twin Cedars. Provided good service, honest opinions and diagnoses, at a reasonable cost. Gabriola is Gabriola though, and trying to get ANY service (veterinary or otherwise) after-hours is an exercise in futility.

I had an emergency with a dog and called after hours, but was refused any help and told to come at 9:00 am the following morning. As I live on Gabriola Island it was impossible to take a ferry to Nanaimo to a 24-hour clinic and return the same evening. The next morning I was there at 9:00, but the receptionist did not arrive to open the surgery until nearly 9:10. I am always left with the feeling that these vets are simply there for their own convenience, and don't provide a very professional service.
