10/22/14   1     1     1     1   I brought my dog here for swelling on her nose and was told by Dr. Sisto that she had a bacterial infection. After the antibiotics did not work I took my dog back and was told I would have to pay another two hundred dollars for the vet to see her again. The Dr. Was clueless and I'm sorry I ever wasted my time and money going here. RID: 54239
Click to report rating    7/18/13   1     1     1     1   This may be a good place if you already have a vet there that you know and trust, but my experience here was horrific. The review has a limit for words so I will just say, whatever you do, NEVER leave your pet here overnight. I know there are competent vets there but they must all leave at 5pm. You are better off keeping your pet at home or letting it stay at your vet's office alone. I truly believe that the top priority of VCA is to milk you for every red cent they can, regardless of the outcome of your pet. I will make a point of only going to a non-VCA facility in the future and reading all reviews before I ever take my pet anywhere again. I should say, my new pet as my former pet died the day after I brought her home from Arboretum Veiw. RID: 45670
12/10/12   1     1     1     1   This place should be investigated asap and shut down . BEWARE .. They are absolutely over priced and not compassionate , and they are scammers taking advantage of anyone that walks through the door . they are probably forcing people to put down there animals because of prices and that should be JAIL time for all of them . brought my cat in for a blocked kitty they call it , they wanted to charge me $3800 - 4500 , and there were 3 estimated charged called misc for $400 $ 300 $ 200 ,,, thats were the scam is .My cat had to wait over 45 mins to just get estimate while this was an emergency . I had the same service done for $ 1400 down the street at Downers grove animal hosp . They were like heaven over there , and this VCA was hell RID: 38973
Click to report rating    12/31/11   1     1     1     1   SAVE your pets from a horrible experience! Cheryl Adams is very cold, uncaring, and incompetent. There were many mistakes made in the testing of our dog. She also is very UNSTABLE - she wrote an angry rant in the client records---about her client! Teresa Salee does not have the basic skill of taking blood - she hurt our dog (she yelped in pain) as she persevered in FAILING to find the vein. She then proceeded to blame us for her mistake - she said us being nervous caused her ineptitude! Please use another facility. We will use Care Animal Emergency in Plainfield in the future.  1/20/11   2     4     3     2   My poor rating of the staff is from my experience with Dr. SaLee, supposedly a doctor of Integrative Medicine, meaning she should know how to practice both western and eastern medicine. I took my cat with Inflammatory Bowel Disease to her. SaLee put her on probiotics and digestive enzymes, which helped resolve her symptoms of chronic diarrhea. My cat also had a heart condition and Dr. SaLee was giving her some herbal supplements to balance out her system. Then she wanted to put her on Hawthorn, an herb that our cardiologist said under no circumstances, should my cat take, as it could cause great harm. Then came the time I took my cat in since her appetite was poor and she'd lost weight. Dr. SaLee assumed it was due to the heart problem. She said she wasn't comfortable doing a chest x-ray to see if there was fluid in her lungs. Saw our cardiologist who x-rayed and found the lungs were clear and my cat had intestinal lymphoma. SaLee clearly lacks veterinary medicine skills. RID: 22228

10/28/10   1     4     1     1   Dr. Lasiter said a visibly swollen paw was healed at follow up visit. They charged excessively, trying to pad the bill in every way possible. Had to wait more than 45 minutes to be seen. My experience: Dr. Lasiter wanted us to have expensive bone alignment surgery. This to fix a swollen paw? I declined surgery got antibiotic. They SAY they are ok with online pharmacy for meds but it took 2.5 days to ok the script. 3 weeks of meds and paw was still raw. To my surprise, Lasiter said it was healed. He’s the dr, right? A week later, the paw was still inflamed so I went to a different vet. When she saw my dog’s paw, she asked if it looked like that when Lasiter last saw it, I said yes. She gave another round of different antibiotics. Also asked if Lasiter wanted to do the bone alignment. I said yes, but we were not in a financial position to have it done, plus dog is over 10. She agreed such surgery is more appropriate for a younger dog. Paw is much better now. RID: 20532

Click to report rating    3/15/10   1     1     1     1   My dog tore her acl and had a tplo procedure about a year ago. When I picked her up she had a golf size sore on her butt. they said they didn't know why she got it. Then when they were discharging her, the girl didn't explain how to take care of her or show me any of the exercises i needed to do with her. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My dog has recently tore her other acl, and you coudldn't pay me enought o go back there. RID: 17064

Click to report rating    5/23/09   5     5     5     4   Over the years, we've had some very bad vets and some very good ones. As far as Arboretum View goes, they are among the best. Yeah, they're corporate, yeah they have a lot of patients. But high technical care quality is important. Never had a misdiagnosis of anything. To me, that beats the folksy old vet that gets stuff wrong half the time. RID: 12882
Click to report rating    2/24/09   5     5     5     5   I had been bringing my dog here for his vaccines and check ups for years, but changed vets when I moved to Chicago due to the distance. When I took my dog to a new vet to get his teeth cleaned and a fatty tumor removed, something went wrong and he died during surgery. That was 4 months ago. My husband and I just adopted a new dog, and will bringing her to arboretum view animal hospital for ANYTHING she needs, despite the distance. RID: 11814
Click to report rating    11/5/08   5     5     5     4   I've had my share of pets, and have been to many different clinics. I had heard great things about Arboretum View, so when my kitty was acting strange late at night I brought her in through their ER. I was terrified to find out she was a diabetic! But the staff was very friendly (person at front desk was a little "ditsy"), but the nurses and doctors were amazing! The doctor explained everything in a way that I could understand. I was SHOCKED to see my estimate - I'd never had anything major with my pets, and for her to stay there it was over a thousand dollars! I had to leave a huge chunk of money for a deposit - which was a little scary. However, they were able to fix her...so it was well worth it. I'd rather pay more if it meant that my pet was getting the best. Highly recommend them! RID: 10513
Click to report rating    10/27/08   1     1     1     1   Drove 600 miles to my parents vet in Iowa, thats all I have to say and my dog is alive today not because to these people. They only care about money not your pet. RID: 10377
Click to report rating    8/18/08   5     5     4     5   Dr. Gray was awesome! He helped save the life of my ferret Amelia. Amelia was diagnosed with a tumor that was embedded in her liver. She was pretty much deemed a "goner". I wanted a second opinion, and Dr. Gray was the only person who was willing to explore the situation further. Through his efforts, we determined that she could possibly be saved. He referred me to Dr. Whittington at the Champaigne/Urbana U of I campus. Turns out the tumor was connected to her diaphragm and she was saved. I can't thank Dr. Gray enough. He and the rest of Arboretum View really care about what they're doing and the animals that they take care of. I recommend this place to anyone. If there's an option, the staff here are willing to explore it. RID: 9686
Click to report rating    7/25/08   1     2     1     1   Horrible.....Way over priced. Paid over 700.00 to have ten stitches put on my Kitty that injured herself. They said they performed all these tests on her which I do not believe.$400.00 up front for starters and probably would have held my kitty for ranson if I did not pay the balance. AND if I brought her back to have the stitches removed they were going to charge me for that plus an office visit. Stay away from this place. I wish that there was some complaint department that we can write too about this place that ripped off all these people. The ones that are not complaining did not have anything major wrong with their pets.( Thank God) They would be singing another tune.I took my kitty to another vet to have stitches removed. He removed the stitches, gave me some antibiotics for her to take another fews days. $30.00....This will now be my vet for my kitty. RID: 9443
Click to report rating    4/9/08   1     2     1     1   Don't waste your time or money. Our puppy broke her leg and we were referred to Arboretum View by our vet. Our first appointment time was changed on us due to the unorganized staff. Our second appointment was changed because the first doctor we saw left the practice. I received a call two days before our 3rd appointment (with a new doc) and the staff person told me she didn't know why someone made our appointment at that time since the doc doesn't see patients that day. She then basically couldn't give me a set appointment time to reschedule; she could only give me times when we could sit and "wait" to be seen or we could drop off our puppy. But she didn't know if they would charge us to drop off the puppy. I've since left two messages for the hospital manager and have yet to hear from her. I would never trust them with my puppy. They might misplace her just like they did repeatedly with my appointments. Customer service means nothing to this practice. RID: 7994

Click to report rating    3/14/08   1     2     1     1   11/07 my dog was diagnosed with Pyometra, and needed an immediate operation. I've had nothing but problems since the surgery, the wound it had an awful odor, the wound would bust open constantly, and puss would drain each time it opened. After the surgery was over they took our $2,326.35 and washed their hands of us (which I found out later was a rediculously high). Today Emmy had lump the size of an egg sticking out along the stitch line filled with puss and it busted open. At the vets office he said point blank "take her back to where she had the surgery they should absolutely take care of it, it's an infection from the surgery." I called Arboretum View and they told me to bring her in but they would charge for the visit, and they would give me an estimate of all fees once they check her out and we could go from there. I am so disgusted with these people that they won't even take a look at her without charging me, my dog could die from their negligence and they wouldn't even care. RID: 7719
Click to report rating    1/13/08   5     5     5     3   After 4 years of another vet trying to figure out why my darling Welsh Terrier was "wetting her bed" every night. It took Dr. Pasdo about 2 minutes to correct the issue with medication. That was several years ago and Baylee is still doing fine. This is the very best animal hospital in Chicagoland. RID: 6936
Click to report rating    1/2/08   5     5     5     5   State of the art facility. Wonderful Dr.s and staff. I have never been in an animal hospital that is so well maintained like this one! RID: 6835
Click to report rating    5/4/07   4     3     3     1   I GOT RIPPED OFF ON A COMMON SURGURY TO REMOVE KIDNEY STONES FROM THE BLADDER. AFTER THE FACT I CALLED OTHER VETS THAT DO THIS SURGURY AND WAS QUOTED 600-800 DOLLARS. ARBORETUM IS A EMERGENCY AND EXPECTED TO PAY A SLIGHTLY HIGHER PRICE BUT NO 3000.00 DOLLARS. THEY ARE DEFINITYLY TAKEN ADVANATAGE OF PEOPLE!!!! RID: 3760
Click to report rating    2/4/07   5     5     5     5   My regular vet sent my dog home. They saved her life, but too late for 9 of the 11 puppies she was carrying. RID: 2569
Click to report rating    1/24/07   1     4     2     1   Absolutely horrible. Completely misdiagnosed problem and charged over $1,000.00. Animal had to be taken to another facility where correct diagnosis was made at total fees were less than $500.00 for all blood work, radiology and stay. Would never go back! RID: 2182
Click to report rating    12/20/06   1     5     5     1   Horrible. These people diagnosed a kitten with hypoglycemia and anemia without doing bloodwork or diagnostics. They issued choices as 1) paying thousands of dollars for procedures or 2) putting the kitten down. Symptoms were diarrhea and vomiting. I made the mistake of assuming that people involved with animal healthcare would put the animal's best interests first. RID: 1370
Click to report rating    12/16/06   5     5     5     5   A fabulous vet practice! Not our regular, but while searching for a surgeon to correct my then 6 month old Pom's luxating patellas, I came across Arboretum View. They got me in the next day, and he had surgery a week later. Sent us home with 14 pages of instructions- they were that thorough! Great doctors, great staff! RID: 1304
Click to report rating    11/24/06   5     5     5     5   I've had to take two animals in (a rabbit and a parrot) and I was very pleased with the care. They had experienced vets practicing there, so I could be sure that my pets were recieving top care, and the staff was very helpful and comforting during an emergency which made me feel less frantic, which also helped my pet calm down. The ER costs were a bit pricy (though that's true of most ER vets), but considering that they provide the best care I could possibly ask for, I found it worth it. RID: 898
Click to report rating    11/24/06   5     5     5     5   I took my dog here for chemo last year. My regular vet of 20yrs recommended them. The Dr.s ans staff are very patient and thourgh This vet clinic is more expensive then the others but the have highly trained specialized vets on staff. I am very confident of the care my dog received. I also had to rush her here in the middle of the night last Spring to say our last good bys. I was hysterical and the Dr.s and staff were very supportive, patient and understanding. The Dr who performed the euthenisa actually was crying with me. RID: 880
Click to report rating    11/2/06   5     5     5     5   This is a WONDERFUL primary care and referral hospital with state-of-the-art facilities and board certified specialists available. Please visit their website. They are a bit more expensive than most primary care veterinarians, but your animal could never be in better hands! :) RID: 448
