I was black listed because I questioned them? Now my cat is sick and they will not help. I do not understand....first time in 62 years I have ever been denied a service. You better not question the receptionist or you too will be black listed!

Phoned to take my dog in for a wormer? They said I need to bring him in for an exam. I could not believe this. Then talked to my 45 year professional trainer. She said that was just a money grab (which I absolutely agree with). She suggested I take a decal in for examination. They said,...I need to bring my dog in for a physical. I could not believe this. ABSOLUTE MONEY GRAB and the reason why so many animals suffer for the greed. Not even willing to give anyone a break. Money money money money. Time to run in the opposite direction. Changing vets.

I have had a wonderful experience here with the entire staff. My little Pomeranian is 6.6 pounds and had to have a high risk surgery. We knew it could go either way. I am happy to say she made it through but only because of this office. We can now look forward to more time with our little girl.

My purebred Lagotto was sick from eating suet that the crows had knocked down. He was seen quickly and given the treatment he needed. An ear infection this summer was treated effectively and quickly. I was into the clinic for routine travel documents and was served very timely and completely by Dr. Jay, everything explained and left happy and satisfied. I am not a relative nor friend of the clinic staff.

Absolutely horrible lack of respect for daring to ask how much certain procedures cost. I asked whether they do titering and was told I would have to discuss that with the vet during a $75.30 check up for my dog. I asked if, during the annual check-up, if there would be an additional cost for blood testing and was told AGAIN, "You will have to discuss this with the vet." Overpriced, have charged me for procedures that were not requested, and a dismal attitude towards me as a concerned pet owner. As a point of interest, I called my old vet on the mainland, who immediately gave me the info, precise charges, and all the info I had asked Chemainus for. His check-up rate is $42. Not impressed and moving elsewhere.

I have a very sick cat who has been vomiting and I can't get any decent Vet to help me. I was brushed off with a cold and uncaring receptionist who informed me they were not taking in any more pets. They could not show some compassion or caring to fit my poor sick cat in. I stopped into the office to vent in regards to how uncaring and unfeeling they were towards a poor sick animal. I was told sorry that I felt that way. Yeah RIGHT I am sure they are very sorry! When I informed it had nothing to do with my feelings but getting help for very sick cat the female vet smirked. Further more, I know of many people who have no use for the attitudes of the receptionists. I am new to Chemainus and I love the small community feel of Chemainus majority of the people who live here are nice but not in the Veterinary field. The employees at Chemainus Animal Hospital are cold and unfeeling with zero compassion for an animal in desperate need of medical help.

I have used this clinic for quite a few year, then when I called to say that my dog could not get into my car anymore, he has very bad arthritis, and that he was out of thyroid pills. The reply was we will NOT refill your prescription, "oh well you better get a vet that will come to your house". How nice!!! when your dog gets old they don't want you as a client anymore.I will never go back, as I know lots of others who won't also

I never made it in to see this vet clinic, as the receptionist was so rude, arrogant and so so clueless. Clueless to the point that I cancelled my appointment after thinking about for a couple hours. I decided to go elsewhere.I had to put a rating in the facilities, punctuality, and monetary value to get this to post, so I put the same rating as staff.

We needed to see a vet twice last month for non-emergency conditions. They accommodated us quickly without appointments for our rescue dog. Very friendly, helpful and professional staff. Value for service was excellent and doctors were responsive and willing to provide great advice in addition to their clinical examinations. Our cocker spaniel, typically susceptible to fear bordering on panic, was calm and relaxed during her visit. Our sincere thanks to the people of this clinic. Doug, Judy & Paige

I have a cat who the Jay know is very sick and needs to have his lungs drained every 2 weeks. I once phoned to bring him in on an emergency basis which the clinic and I had already talked about as my cat was having problems breathing. I was told that they were fully booked and were unable to squeeze him in. I explained I could bring him down at the end of the day if that was okay. I was told then they would be open then for emergency on call that night and if I wanted to bring my cat in then, it would be 350.00, as opposed to 45.00 to have the procedure done. I ended up taking to the Nanaimo Emergency Clinic. Another time I brought my cat in to have his lungs drained, and when Jay came out he said "I saved him from the Grim Reaper". I was shocked thinking this is my caring vet and he knows how much I love my cat. They are always understaffed, giving that excuse whenever you have to wait. Very disappointed by the service.

I have used this vet clinic for the past 8 years for our Golden Retriever and was very happy with it!! Until recently, September 16, 2013 when I called and explained that my dog was non responsive and I needed to get him in quickly. The receptionist (Kelsey) asked me to explain what I meant by non-responsive, which I thought was pretty explanatory, and then told me they were booked solid and could not look at our dog. She told me to go Nanaimo... serious?! My dog wouldn't have even made the ride to Nanaimo. And why a 45 minute ride away?! I was not impressed with her at all. I was not impressed they had no emergency care, nor did they offer to squeeze him in or anything. Just passed the buck off to someone else. Well it turns out I found a BETTER animal clinic which I will use from now on... I will NOT return to Chemainus (whishc saddens me)Animal hospital. Our dog Bill did pass away and the staff at Mt. Prevost Animal Clinic were amazing! Held my hand through the whole proces

Dr. Jay and his staff took excellent care of our dog for most of her 13.5 years on planet earth. On several occasions, they squeezed us in on a busy day to see a vet. Another time, they quickly diagnosed a serious medical problem and provided fast treatment. If we ever get another pet, we'll definitely take it to the Chemainus Animal Hospital.

Dr. Pollock has treated all our dogs (5 so far) and foster dogs(6 in total) as well. Just lately he has repaired a severe injuries from an accident one of our dogs had - did an exceptional job, saved us from reconstructive surgery. We have referred 2 friends who have had unresolved dog issues, one an eye problem, the other undiagnosed symptoms. Both were resolved and continue at this clinic. For one, I know he spent a weekend researching possibilities. He is one of the few vets who listens to us without doing the "I'm the vet and know best attitude." But when the crunch comes as it recently did, we knew our girl was in the best possible hands. She's doing well thanks to Dr. Pollock. His staff is also friendly, knowledgeable, and very good with animals even when animals are less than co-operative. We highly recommend this clinic. They care - this is a vet who volunteers at community functions, rescues downed eagles, and takes in a stray we found when we could not. Exceptional.

I have told a few friends about this vet and they report the same gratitude that experience every time I go there. They greatly improved the comfort of my old Girl's last few years, and my two new rescues get treated just as well. I have actually not spoken with anyone who did not feel the same way.

I would like to than Jay for his very considerate and compassionate treatment of our German Shepherd during the last few years of her life. Jay was helpful in every way, and informed us clearly of what to expect as our little girl got older, and meandered her way into old age. Recently we had to lay her to rest, and once again Jay was very kind and considerate of our wishes and made home visit on a weekend. All of the advice and information we got was excellent, we were treated with kindness and compassion throughout. Thank you!

We, being new owners of a rescued dog needed to see a vet. When we called we were told since we weren`t currently clients of theirs, they didn`t want our business and were told to go elsewhere. I will never use them and have been telling all our friends of our experience.

I have been using the Chemainus Animal Hospital for nearly twenty years. Even now that I live in another town, I will always still always take my pets to this lovely clinic. They have been kind, understanding, supportive, and compassionate on every occassion that I have ever been there. I also believe that they will only charge for the treatments that are actually necessary, and aren't in the business of excess profits over caring for both the animals and their owners. I will always recommend Chemainus Animals Clinic to anyone that I meet.

One of the vets here is very good, but only works one day a week. She is respectful, kind, open to holistic approaches, etc. The other (primary) vet is arrogant, disrespectful, devalues senior pets, dismisses experiential learning and/or holistic approaches, and overcharges.

They have saved my dogs life more than once. The vets take the time to explaine everything to you, There is no rushing your out the door until everyting is explained.
