Had a great experience here with my senior pug. The visiting vet (also excellent) suggested an Xray which showed a large cancerous growth on her spleen. Given her previous seizures after surgery I was told she would not be a surgical candidate again. Dr, Barnes located an anesthetic she could tolerate and she's still alive and well. Find Dr.Barnes to be very knowledgeable and helpful.

Many had told me how good Dr. Barnes was but I waited 45 minutes and then had my dog checked out by someone else. She appeared to be very capable however the invoice stated that "Dr. Barnes" was the provider.

Dr. Barnes is great with the animals and I value his advice. He is knowledgeable about treatment options and respects my preferences when choosing treatment options. Please note, that Dr Kamil Svencara, mentionned in a previous review, works in a completely different Clinic that happens to have the same name. It is two ferry rides away in a completely different city.

Very professional staff and Dr. Could be more reasonable in cost. Facility (especially now after the renovation) is top-notch. A far more pleasant experience after dealing with the competition!

Friendly, helpful staff who go the extra mile and a vet who not only loves his job and his patients, but knows what he's doing. Absolutely disagree with one previous poster's assessment that unnecessary or inappropriate treatment is being recommended in order to make money. I have the opposite experience; on more than one occasion I was offered less pricey options that didn't compromise my dog's care, and in every instance all pros and cons were carefully explained to me. I find Dr. Barnes to be absolutely trustworthy, knowledgeable, diligent, and always willing to go the extra mile--such as staying after hours for an emergency (without charging emergency rates!). Perhaps the most telling review of all: my dog LOVES going to the vet! :)

Dr. Barnes is knowledgeable, personable, and up to speed on everything new. HOWEVER, I feel there is a lack of integrity (if not ethics) when he took advantage of my 70 year old Mom and her 15 year old labrador with some health issues. My Dad had just died and Dr. Barnes took the opportunity to tell my Mom that blood work, expensive tests that had to be shipped away, medication, and MORE medication might be helpful to find out what is wrong with her dog. Of course she is vulnerable at this point and wants to do anything to keep this poor dog alive at any expense. I feel sick when I think of the money she spent... on a younger dog - of course! - but this dog was 15 years old and was just demonstrating old age symptoms and behaviours. He made her hope for a "cure" that would keep her dog around for a few more years. Sad.
