We boarded our dog for 10 days. On day 8, we received a call that our dog was vomiting since thursday pm-her records show am, and after a series of calls, she died six hours later. We'll never really know what happened to her. She was an older dog who just had an annual check up and was always healthy. There isn't anyplace to obtain info regarding how many animals die in the care of vets while being boarded. The regulation of these doctors is pretty lax in my opinion and all complaints would be reviewed by other vets so where are pet owners to go in this case. They quoted a fee for cremation that was over twice what our other vet charged when we lost a dog to cancer earlier in the year. Just to be clear, the records showed that the vomiting started thursday morning. With an older dog, I can't help but wonder if they treated her then would the outcome have been different.
